Thanks, the car is actually in the shop getting the brakes overhauled, will post more on that once I get the car back.

Your car is always in the shop. This means nothing.

VDC_OFF 01-21-2013 03:40 PM

You gonna sell your stock rotors? I have one of Bryans old ones but it vibrates when braking.

I will see if Jason still has them laying around.

Matt: put more miles on loaner cars than he has on his 370z.

Been busy lately, but some minor updates to the car.
~Z1 Hood Struts
~Stoptech Pads
~Z1 Premium SS Lines
~Z1 15MM Spacers (Stud replacement)
~Motul RBF 600 Fluid
~Stillen J-hook Rotors

Z1 hood struts went on quickly & easily, was able to do it without raising the car even though I am lowered. The use of the fiancee's small hands helped and turning the wheel. Over the holidays I did a brake overhaul, and wow has this changed the braking. I have yet to have the opportunity to truly test this since the install, but hopefully soon with some cruises coming up here. Ignore the dirty wheels, the car had sat for a week when I took the picture.

Small update, the misses got me Polk DB6501 Component System for my birthday and installed. Even with running off the HU this is a solid upgrade over the factory system and glad I can listen to music with out pops & crackles.

theDreamer 07-01-2013 02:19 PM

Have some maintenance items to work on the next coming weeks, along with trying to redo some of my audio items. With the change to the speakers it is pushing me to make the audio area exactly the way I want.

I plan to reroute my iPod cable from the passenger cubby area to the center where the 3 fake buttons are. I found a setup done by .c2 on the forum and plan to replicate his idea. Link to the picture: Image

-Idle issue (MAF cleaning, boost leak check)
-Supercharger filter change
-Supercharger fluid change
-Custom iPod dock
-Re-route iPod cable
-HU dash kit replacement & adjustments

theDreamer 08-19-2013 10:37 AM

Some more minor updates.
-Rerouted my iPod cable finally so I can keep my passenger cubby door closed, ran it to one of the blank center buttons for the time. Working on removing all the buttons (mine do nothing now) and making a custom iPhone dock so I can easily throw my phone in and connect.
-Installing front & rear Z emblems
-Installing test pipes
-A dyno tune is scheduled for September 13 with Kozmic Motorsports, hoping this fixes all the "little" issues such as the idle problem

Also picked up a Seibon TS hood and have started doing some data logging with my OEM hood and will repeat with the Seibon TS hood for comparison. Can follow that in this thread: http://www.the370z.com/forced-induct...s-testing.html

theDreamer 09-20-2013 11:05 AM

Things completed recently:
-TP installed
-90% re-tune
-Fixed almost all drive ability issues

TP are on and back to my old full flowing exhaust sound, still a little drone around 2000-2500 but that is the price of performance. On my re-tune, the car is miles above what it was and Eric at Kozmic is doing a wonderful job. Ran into a couple minor issues when he was tuning WOT, but everything else was finished.

-Fixed idle issue, this was due to the MAF & fuel tables needing to be set properly, was not done.
-Fixed SRM bouncing when down shifting, SRM would ping 3,500 RPM and then drop down to 3,100 and bounce between the two.
-Adjusted fan speeds, could have been more aggressive but will see how it works for now.

Finally got around to adding my hood which has been sitting around. Dropped it off, painted, and installed and it turned out great. Only issue is there is a leak on the passenger side that I need to have them fix since the hood installed, it is coming from behind the passenger glove box up high. Thinking maybe a grommet or rubber seal was left off by accident.

Love that hood!

theDreamer 01-14-2014 06:45 AM

So early non data logging testing, use to run 205-210 degree for water temps even when it was 40 degrees outside. Past week the only time I get up that high is in heavy traffic or at a long street light but once I get moving it instantly drops 5-10 degrees quickly. Been running 195 if the car is moving which is great.

Got asked about where the approximate vents are over the engine bay, and I don't have a very high end camera so tough to get pictures. So I stole an image from GTM and put some red boxes where the vents are.

Can see the first one on each side is probably the "best" vent and then each one going back will do less and less. Funny story from this weekend, had to run by HEB and while in the store for a few minutes, came out to find a bird in the first vent getting warm. Flew off before I got a picture.

I want to say the AMS hood I have is similarly located, perhaps a bit more down. Good info.

From what I have seen online, not seen one in person, I would agree. I thinkthe AMS hood has slight larger openings than the Seibon TS hood so that might help a bit also.

After 6 months of being busy and partially lazy, and the help of a friend I got the Z emblems on the car to replace the Nissan hamburgers. Backplate was painted PG to match my car, Nissan sure loves to put glue/tape/whatever to hold these things down.

Well one year later update, but after over 85,000 miles (70k+ with boost) my CSC has failed and my clutch was started to slip very badly.
Called up Joe@ZSpeed and spoke with him today and got my new parts ordered. Ended up with the Stage 3 Daily package he sells.

Were you running a stock clutch?

Yep, stock clutch, flywheel, csc, all factory original.

PharmDZ 12-17-2014 11:05 AM

You'l love it I'm sure. I just had mine fail at 43k miles and replaced it with the HD CSC and South Bend Stage 2 daily. Pedal is noticably heavier but not over the top. Engagement is SO much smoother than stock though. Makes me feel better that it handles more power as well since I autocross frequently.

That is what I am hoping for, plus thinking of getting the RJM pedal next year to help even more.

Final update for the year.

The race begins August 6, 2015!!

Well it has been an interesting start to a new year. The good news is a few upgrades will soon be on the way, the downside is why the upgrades are happening.

A couple days ago, driving down the freeway my supercharger decided it wanted to make a nice loud squeal noise and start to emit white smoke. Quickly pulled off and killed the car, towed it back to the shop and we started to inspect it and SC fluid was all over the place and the rotrex unit was black (photo below). We imagine there must have been a leak in a line carrying all the SC fluid, dumped the fluid, and the rest is history.

So trying to turn a negative into a positive the car is going to be making the switch to e85 along with a new rotrex supercharger!

Sorry to hear about your miss fortune, but excited to hear about the upgrade!:ugh2:

Nut_N_Much 02-22-2015 10:17 AM

Congratulations, can't wait to see the results. I blew my seals out, and like you gave me a chance to get a nice tight motor and new SC system.

Hope it all works out. :tiphat:
