O&G's Journal
I should have done this a long time ago but I've never been an "active" forum member before. I always used it as a resource. I sold my twin turbo 350 in October of 2010. I have a 2010 Tundra and it wasn't as fun to drive as a turbocharged sports car. That being said, I began my look and it ended in November when I found a 40th Anv. 370z, build number 184 in Dallas. It only had 600 miles on it, I grabbed a friend and we were off before someone else could get it. I would say no less than 2 weeks after I owned the car I already had the Stillen CAI, JWT flywheel, Act clutch, B&M short shifter, test pipes, HKS exhaust and HKS coilovers installed and tuned.....all before HKS jacked their prices up. (I had a lot of money left over from the 350 sale.) I can't stand stock, that's just me.
I'm also very lucky to have many friends and family in the aftermarket auto/motor bike industry. As you all know I'm very close with the people @ JTran Studios and without them my 350 and my 370 would have never existed. When I was building my 350 back in the day I ran into a lot of issues with shady shops and just overall bad luck. Johnny at JTran took my car and fixed everything for free basically. He showed me there are good people in the aftermarket scene. I've been a close friend and loyal supporter of their shop ever since. Johnny is known as the best UpRev tuner in Houston, I honestly don't know why people w/ VQ's, who live in this city or area go anywhere else. All that crap out of the way I'm going to post a bunch of pictures of the car on it's rise up to where it is now, Some pics are shitty cell phone ones....sry. DyNo
This graph goes as follows:
RUN 1 = Baseline w/ intake; 260.154whp and 207.587wtq RUN 2 = intake, exhaust, UpRev tune; 286.211whp and 218.860wtq RUN 3 = JTran single turbo 6-7 psi (hit 7psi dwindled to 6psi prior to boost controller install); 385.575whp and 339.400wtq This dyno will read lower than any I've ever seen, a true "heartbreak" AWD Mustang Dyno. Regardless I've made well over 100+whp and wtq! Pumped up! http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...rbovsStock.jpg |
DyNo
This graph represents JTran single turbo 6-7 psi vs GTM stg 2 @ 6psi, both cars still needing fine tuning, etc... Twin turbo will always come on faster but watch out, single turbo not far behind.
RUN 1 = GTM; 380.811whp and 315.702wtq RUN 2 and 3 = JTran; 385.575whp and 339.400wtq http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...TurbovsGTM.jpg Graph was my Dyno pull @ 6-7psi vs 10 psi Meth run. You can see where the clutch began to slip on the graph :( http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DSCN0132.jpg |
Shitty cell phone vids
Hopefully I'll have better soon!
1st video was an Arby's run, when I throttle hard had to put two hands on the wheel....lol, traction! Didn't really punch it, just more a drivability video! I also did a walk around the car while it was running @ the end of the video. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...7-15-14-46.jpg 2nd video was right after we finished fabrication and initial tuning. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...2-13-14-27.jpg Day Run: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...zer/th_Z-1.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...rtfilm0-60.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...ullfrogRun.jpg This clip is a take off, @ the 8-9 second mark I make small fire out my rear end! :) http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...th_Jordan2.jpg This clip is coming back http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g.../th_Jordan.jpg This is inside the car, prob reved it up to 6k, nothing too crazy. I have pretty stiff suspension and camera isn't that great but you get an idea. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...rdaninside.jpg |
Looks nice! And to think you did all this in 15 minutes!

Thanks for the input! Always pays to get others opinions!

Anyone know if the GTM S/C intake pipes from the intercooler to the engine are 3 inch diameter? Looking for an easy fix to replace the Stillen CAI I adapted to work for now. MAF voltage is fine because I have the UpRev MAFs but I'd like some more air volume!

nice fabrication work!!

:hello: sub'd Love ur car!

Thanks homies, boost sensor finely made it in. I'm going to do some fine tuning this week, push it to 10psi and see what she can do. I'll try to make it over to the Dyno Jet @ Chris's Car Doc's but it will probably be on JTrans AWD Mustang Dyno. I'll post some vids and dyno sheets later this week.

Nice man,
What is your setup wheels? 20x10 +? 20x11 +? really nice setup |

What are your impressions of the drop transmission mount?
|
1 Attachment(s)
I like it! Less movement w/ the gearbox, shifts feel better. I havn't had any issues like the forum member had w/ the engine mounts. Also added an extension to my shifter shaft so I can get my hands back on the wheel ASAP, traction is a bitch! Never miss a shift either :)

Wire/Vacum lines tuck
Started tucking the headlight wire looms, starter cable, throttle body cables and grounding wires on and around the engine and bay area. I got the passenger side done by running most the wires through the fender w/ out having to lengthen or modify them. Next I'll tackle the driver side and get that ugly fuse box re-wired up into the brake booster compartment. Waiting on a few parts to finish my vacuum lines, Ron found an awesome CNC vacuum manifold kit and linked it on Phunks TT thread. Great find!!! I'll be moving all vacuum lines and manifold pressure sensor behind the fire wall where the wiper blade motor is located via the stock grommets from the headlight wire looms. Waiting on hood lifts, dress up bolts, rear fog light mod and my AEM meth kit, everything should be done before dyno day on the 28th. I attached a few pics of the before and after passenger side and some of the brackets and plumbing removed.

Update 01-10-12
We did the oil pressure sensor today and the water/meth install. The install wasn't bad at all, I attached a few pics of the set-up. Going in Friday for a retune and new numbers @ 10 psi.
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...0zer/001-1.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...0zer/004-1.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...0zer/007-1.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DSCN0101.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DSCN0105.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DSCN0108.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DSCN0109.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DSCN0110.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DSCN0114.jpg |
Hood Dampners!!!

I'm liking the progress! I'm jealous how much more exhaust clearance you have than I had
http://i51.tinypic.com/ngxb44.jpg |
Thats the pic that sold me, mine sits low as well, looks pretty much like yours....lol! Johnny designed the exhaust with minimal bends, no restrictions at all! Going in tomorrow for retune!!

Meth!
Took the car in for a retune today, ran into a few issues with loosing traction on the Dyno. Johnny thinks the alignment is off or the CSC is giving out finaly. I'm running an ACT single disc clutch and I think were reaching the limits of it's clamping load as well. We will see after the tear down! I'm attaching a few videos and pics from today. The car made 394 whp and 389 wtq @ 10 psi w/ meth. Just by looking at the graphs you can see where shes breaking loose, we were not able to reach max whp. I'm going in for an allignment, then we are checking the clutch and installing the GTM CSC and we will try again. If you do the math for Dynojet Dyno you will come up with these numbers(394whp x 1.18 = 464.92whp & 389wtq x 1.18 = 459.02 wtq, remember this is a Mustang AWD Dyno and it reads very low, see my base numbers on page one(260whp 210wtq give or take). I'm very impressed w/ the wtq on this car, now we just need to fine tune the whp. All in all, I'm very satisfied w/ everything, exspecially since I've only invested about $6,200.00 in this FI project. Cars a beast, more updates to come!:driving:

Awesome dude!

Thanks man.... Gunna post more results this weekend.

Less than half of what I invested and it runs right... you sure did show me up! The ACT 6 puck is good for 550 tq, so I don't think that is your problem. At least I hope not! Mine never slipped when I made 506whp/44xwtq up at Z1.
