Skeeterbop

Figured I would start a little picture journal. I'll start posting up pics after i get back from the airshow today. Going to add a To-Do list on this post and as i accomplish things strike them out. So in no particular order:
1. AAM SHort tail exhaust (thanks for the tip Dallaz!)
2. Stillen G3 Intake
3. Swift springs
4. 4.10 fd gears (i See this being the last item)
5. uprev tune
6. Underdrive pullies
7. Headers
8. Hi-flow cats (want to maintain emissions "legal" status) -edit- might end up with test pipes
9. Wheels (competing with the gears)
10. Custom exhaust, Straight pipe w/ X over, and a side exit on each side just ahead of the rear wheels. The final result I have pictured looks pretty BA, not all hacked up, this would also require a new rear diffuser to be made specifically for this application to look right.

Would love to get some Wilwood 2 piece rotors and calipers to go with them sometime as well.

They changed it to Gun Metallic in 2011.

Yep, got three more years to go before I get out.

Cats have to last 80k miles by some federal regulation. They can be replaced sooner if they get "damaged". When you replace cats it is up to the owner and installer to make sure the cats meet federal requirements. But unless you live in Cali, most emissions stations just check for cats, they could care less if they meet federal standards, and would probably only say something if your car failed emissions.

Skeeterbop 11-04-2011 07:44 PM

Question, has anyone seen a GM or PG or w/e color the 40th is; with either a painted black roof or gloss vinyl wrap on the roof. It looks really nice on PW and MB, it has me wondering how it would look on my car.

Around here as long as there are cats, that's all they need. No sniffer tests or anything. In fact, most of the time they don't even check and you can go no cats. :icon23:

Well, I got my car all nice and clean so I could run by the dealership and check out my paint to see what they would do for me. I get to the dealership and the Service department was closed (I was there between 1-2pm). I talked to a salesman and he told me that I would have to come back on Monday. I left wondering to myself why the Service department would be closed on a day when the rest of the Dealership was open. Seems to me you would definitely want it to be open on a Saturday when the rest of the dealership is open as well. Then tonight I got curious about how this process would work so I sent an email to Nissan and will just have to wait for a response back about that.

LakeShow 11-13-2011 12:48 AM

^^Skeeterbop can you get up a pic of your issue with your paint. I am also in the same boat and going to dealership next week.

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 04:42 PM

I'll have a few pics up of the affected area a little later. Saturday I'll have my first "mod" done! Going to get the windows tinted, 35% on the sides and 5% on the hatch.

Lemers 11-14-2011 05:11 PM

Need tint in the Sun City

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 09:24 PM

Here is a pic of what the paint looks like, this is after they washed and polished the paint:

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 09:24 PM

It goes all the way across that part of the hatch.

MJB 11-14-2011 09:37 PM

Skeeterbop, did I see you driving your Z today going down Montana Ave around noonish? I was in the PW Nismo. Glad to hear the stealership is going to take care of you.

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 10:54 PM

Most likely, I was headed over to Casa Nissan about that time.

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 11:25 PM

You know if Nissan Motorsports made this available for the 370, I would definitely have it on my must have list:
PN: 25900-33VDC
Description: The Whiteline 350Z Black Box is a piggy-back control unit that allows full control of how the VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) system intervenes. The system has 5 presets or the user can customize one or all of them to his own settings. The user can add or subtract control of the front or rear wheels independently as well as how much VDC is active (from OEM to zero). Instructions and all wiring included. Perfect for the track day enthusiast. For 2003-2006 350Z equipped with VDC only.

I didn't notice you this afternoon, but by any chance, are you ever on Biggs Airfield? I've seen a White NISMO a couple times on Biggs and once on 375.

Skeeterbop 11-15-2011 06:00 PM

So playing around with Lightroom and changed the wheel color. Was shooting for a bronze look. What do you guys think?

KwantmFizzics 11-15-2011 06:16 PM

Fresh.

Check the El Paso thread.

SPOHN 11-15-2011 07:40 PM

What headers do you have?

Skeeterbop 11-15-2011 08:04 PM

Who me? I'm all stock atm, I updated my first post with my planned list of mods that will happen after my next deployment when my car is paid off.

Skeeterbop 11-15-2011 08:06 PM

The only headers I know of are the FI Long tubes, I guess with a custom exhaust i could go that route and still have cats on it.

Skeeterbop 11-17-2011 10:43 PM

So I'm contemplating getting the exhaust and springs once I make sure the bills are paid. I'm almost certain I will get the exhaust, but I'm not quite sure where to find Swift springs, so I don't know how much they will be. If I can keep it under 800 total before shipping I may just do it.
--edit--
Found them on kamispeed.com, must say they are a bit cheaper than I was expecting (read a lot!).

Skeeterbop 11-17-2011 10:52 PM

One question, if i get the springs will i have to get the camber links right away or should they be able to get the alignment into spec

KwantmFizzics 11-18-2011 07:27 PM

I'm stuck between Swift springs or the H&R.

You'll probably be running more camber in the rear than recommended for the street with the toe in spec. The fronts should be fine though. Well that's my take on it.. YMMV :tiphat:
