Last day with my 370z
ah, I had so much fun with this car.
This car converted me into a much matured driver on street. Most exciting moment during 1 year 9 months and 27 days of owning this car would have to be the day I went to sea to sky highway for the first time with my friend in his 911 turbo. That night, I just wanted to be able to see his tail light. So I gave it more throttle without caring about my life or the car. I understeered. Almost died. Long time ago... I, then, started seeing my weakness in driving and figured it was too dangerous to improve myself on road course, so I started going to track events. It was a blast! Track was much easier course to drive compared to nerve wrecking sea to sky highway. I was able to learn the limit of the car, I learned how to control the car in between understeer and oversteer. I put mere $10,000 into modifying the car, JUST IN PARTS! Car handled great around corners, accelerated pretty quick and gripped like crazy with godly Korean rubbers. But, when I went back to Korea during the month of August, 2011, I realized something. My father's new E92 M3 was very nice car to begin with, very neutral in terms of cornering, luxury and comfortable. In terms of handling, my 370z would out perform that stock M car. In terms of acceleration, my 370z would probably keep up for a while. However, there was something different. I tried to justify my decision for the longest period of time since I first announced to my friends I will be letting the 370z go. Today was the last day with the car and I finally got the answer. I wanted a grown-up's car. I forgot how old I was until I got ID checked recently. I was almost 23 already. That is all. I loved my Z. I could drive this thing to its limit all day long on the track. Everyone seemed to like how I modified the car. It even got an award at a small meet. I had no problem with the car. It is a great car for what you pay. I never gave it a stupid name, because it is a machinery that gets colder and colder since you stop the engine. but I loved it to death. I even babied it on the last day like every other days. I am letting it go for now, because I can't afford having 370z for track, 1M for weekend collector car and another car for commuting purpose. I will probably buy a 370z when I am in my midlife crisis, then I will mod the crap out of it and track with younger generation. Adios Z34! |

Not hating on the switch at all, the 1M looks like an awesome car, but saying that at 23 you want an "grown up's" car instead of the Z? Maybe if you had said you want a car that conveys more of a sense of status, in some circles anyways.. I see kids (read: 18-21) driving M3's, SL500's, CTS's, etc all the time and it does nothing to make them seem 'more adult'. And I've seen plenty of people with 370's mid 20's, mid 30's, etc (probably the norm actually with the 370) that are clearly mature adults... regardless of what they drive. Now I can see how a typical "riced-out" civic may send a message of immaturity to people but I don't see the 370Z as a car like that at all. Like I said, not hating at all, just think you may wanna clarify what you meant with the "grown-up" car statement. Cheers and GL with the new car. |

I guess I should have said "subtle". I just wanted a car that I can drive without any attention going to school or work or even weekend cruises. so correction. "grown ups" -> "subtle" ps. thanks for your kind words. I truly liked 370z. I passed lots of porsches and other racing breeds on track. I just can't afford to keep it. It's a great car! |
