Clutch, flywheel, roller bearning bushing and clutch line installed...more on this tomorrow. SPC controls arms measured perfectly. I was able to adjust caster and camber. The adjustment however is not easy.

I'm going to provide a quick update for you all, with more details to come this weekend... just picked up the car and drove home from redline... my impressions are based on 30 min drive home and no time yet to drive aggressively, skid pad test or anything
- jwt clutch... this feels better than stock! not harsh AT ALL... I have no idea how it will hold up over the long term, but I would vote that these cars come out of the factory with a jwt clutch... the overall pedal throw is much shorter now, and the engagement points are exactly where I like them... bonus: you know how on the stuck clutch when you press it in from first to second and you get a springy noise ? well, that's gone now! (EDIT/UPDATE... MOSTLY GONE! NOT COMPLETELY GONE) - flywheel... as you might imagine, the car revs much faster now, both accel and decel... most noticeable when you really stab the accelerator, or when drop from very high rpms... in fact, while getting used to the car driving home, I missed an upshift while on it hard and in between gears I was blown away by how quickly it shot up to redline... as predicted, SRM works FLAWLESSLY with the new clutch! big bonus for the street, while coasting in gear, you can now let off the accelerator rapidly and the car will smoothly begin to decelerate - none of the jerkiness with the stock setup ! it is actually very fluid and nice ! the only downside i've noticed is that as expected with this light weight flywheel, the car at idle exhibits a few rattling noises... nothing horrible, but you can hear it inside and outside the car... yes, I will capture video/audio - b&m shifter... this is a great add ! couldn't be happier ! i feel as though i have a better sense for which gear i'm in, because the shifter results in much less compliance and so when you reach down you know exactly where the lever should be for that gear and there it is... with the stock setup, i would sometimes hesitate or 2nd guess which gear i was in because of the slop/compliance... I love the short throws too ! reminds me of a formula ford i recently drove... great add for any application street/track/drag - carbonetic rear dif... going to take some real driving for me to evaluate this ! sorry, not ready to issue a verdict here yet... i can tell you that redline tested it out and said it was very aggressive and the car will now step out instantaneously but predictably with enough throttle... give me some more time and i'll share more thoughts on it... real test will be going into and out of corners at the limit on next track day... not surprisingly, the rear does exhibit some noises now that it didn't before Next up will be a customer oil cooler modification and custom rear diff cooler setup... Redline is working both of those for me, and I think you guys will be interested... Also getting the spa oil pressure / water temp gauge in next week... more to come! SUPER BIG THANKS TO REDLINE MOTORSPORTS FOR HELPING ME BLAZE THIS TRAIL ! NICE WORK ROBERT AND TEAM !! Last edited by travisjb; 06-21-2009 at 01:52 PM. |

Very nice! I loved the JWT clutch in my 350Z. It will last a long time too. I put 550wtq through that JWT clutch and 2 years of track duty and it was still holding strong. Only reason I switched it out was because we were adding another 200 ft. lbs. and needed a tripple carbon for that kind of power.

Next track day is 6/13, on a tight twisty 1.2 mile track... should be REAL FUN !
Continuing with my update... - bc racing er series... very tight car now ! I really cannot comment in detail yet because I haven't put the car through any serious lateral g's, but I can say that the car is still very streetable... to be clear, it is no longer a car that your non-enthusiast spouse (trying not to say wife !) is going to want to drive regularly or go on long trips in, but it is by no means a back breaker... no creaks or clanks, so it all seems to be holding together well... Redline did a great job (in a hurry!) setting up the car for me... I couldn't be more pleased with the stance... I'll get pictures up asap... the front is about the same height as DDM's, with the back just a hair higher - underdrive pulley!!! not sure what to say about this... it's in ! traqmate and chasecam are setup and installed now! i'm going to go for a spin and see if i can capture some night driving! standby by the way, thanks again to Robert at Redline Motorsports of Tempe, Arizona !.. and Sharif at Forged Performance for expediting the carbonetic LSD, and his words of wisdom ! and Mike at DDM for all the other parts and guidance ! best vendors on the board, guys ! |

A few pics of the new stance! look fwd to getting my forgestars!
And here's a (crappy) vid... my first attempt with the chasecam... need to add quality external mic, reposition camera, add rpm sensor, etc, so this is a little rough... also i processed this at very low res... but should give you a sense for how it is responding to throttle input btw, this vid took 10 mins to prep! traqmate / chasecam setup is really great |

My sense is that maxq, being pc-windows based, will get better over time... and it has the benefit of allowing you to run other windows-based apps on the netbook... but the overall output of the chasecam/traqmate looks better to me, it is simpler to setup and operate, no BSODs!, they are known for great support/warranty, and widely recommended.
if you're familiar with the maxq, would welcome your counterpoints so folks can hear both viewpoints... it prob has other merits that i'm not considering |

Awesome, just awesome! It looks like you hit just over 1 g on that turn at the end of the road, not sure if it was just a spike or a true reading due to the new suspension
Did you have to install any sensors for ChaseCam? Brilliant man! |

I don't own a MaxQ but I've borrowed a setup from a friend a couple of times. I've used both the PDA setup with external video, and the netbook setup.
The PDA setup is a little more solid, and you can view/compare telemetry immediately after a session/run but not the video because it is external. The downside is you have a tiny little screen to look at. Later after you import the video and data into your PC you need to manually synchronize them. The netbook system is very cool, the software records the video (up to 2 cams) at the same time as the telemetry and you can view everything together after a session/run. The problem is that the software and the netbooks are still a little buggy. The netbooks seem to crash on a regular basis and have to be rebuilt, reinstalled. I think you're right and that ChaseCam is the way to go for now. |

That was prob just a spike, I wasn't really pushing it.. and the car broke traction down at the end, I was letting it out a little to get a feel for the diff... but I will try to do a skid pad today and see how many g's i'm pulling!
