I'll take it to the dealer and see if clearing the PCM will work. |

I got a call from a dealer today that bought a salvage title 370z... he was hoping to get it back in good condition but he found out that the main wiring harness was severed in half, the ecu is blown and a few other electrical issues... if anyone is interested in buying it as a donor car, let me know and I'll put you in touch... would make a great starting point for someone that wanted to build a race car with an aftermarket ecu

okay, recommend that you also:
1. take 1-2 hours and inspect the wiring harness for any severed wires... there are MANY very fine wires in there that can easily be severed if someone is not careful... there is a possibility that someone may have attempted to repair the harness too... a good dealer tech should be able to trace this down - the procedures are all in the service manual re how to distinguish between severed wires and other issues. Big FYI - all of the connections on the harness are unique, so it is extremely unlikely that something got plugged in in the wrong place... did he create new ground connections? possible he forgot to ground some part of the harness? 2. stop by wal*mart or wherever and pick up a code reader / eraser... prob $30 and will allow you to delete any codes yourself |

Thanks Travis..
The dealer discovered that the AC control knobs and control box need to be hooked back up to complete that connection even though the AC unit is out of the car. We're going to do that and hide them behind the center panel. Also, the reason the VCS is staying off is because the steering wheel sensor in the stock steering wheel was disconnected after we put the Sparco quick release steering wheel on. If I remember correctly, you put in a custom harness right? Did you ever hook up with Rich on the gas tank fix? -Stan |

I don't use the AC control knobs and all is fine... only issue there is the ECU wouldn't respond to UpRev tuning software, but we temp plugged in the unit and got that to work
Steering wheel position sensor is removed from my car, to no impact Tried to connect with Rich but haven't heard back... he's probably busy Thanks, Travis |

I've got a potential project idea... As you all know, I no longer have AC and I have some dead weight in the form of an AC condenser that is integral to the stock radiator. I can either go with an aftermarket radiator and dump the stock unit or I can find a way to re-use the condenser for some other purpose. What do you guys think about using it to cool oil - either engine oil or trans gear oil?
A couple articles on this: Convert AC condenser into oil/PS cooler? [Archive] - FSB Forums Useing A/C condenser as a trans oil cooler? - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards |

Important update on fuel starvation:
I will be working with Richard Biscevic of Nohotwire racing on the installation of a kit to manage the fuel starvation problem we are all having. My fuel tank is being dropped out of my car today and will be shipped to Richard's shop in San Carlos, California. He will install a set of in tank pumps and swirl pot and ship back to me in time for my mid-August event. SRD Racing in Tempe, AZ is doing the R&R and will become a dealer for this kit once we prove it works on my car. By way of background, Richard is working directly with Nissan Motorsports on this project and once it is proven on my car it will be commercialized and made available for everyone else. Richard successfully installed a similar kit on his 350z racecar (Car and Driver Nissan 350Z Race Car | For sale!), and the approach will be similar to the method used on that car. In his 350z, they were able to race all the way down to the last 0.5 gallon of fuel. We're hoping for a similar result. I will post pictures and updates here as the project moves forward. |
