Damn that Honda must be fast if the viper only beat him by a second or two

honda driven by regional director of nasa-az.. his name is Tage... he is extremely fast, so is the car... he has the track record at firebird

Is the Honda a civic or a s2000

M.Bonanni 10-08-2009 01:54 PM

Tage's car is a civic. He used to do time attack back in the 2007 season and back then he and Rado would be very close in times. Very quick little civic even with limited power and an excellent driver to boot.

Update, ordered the following:

- 4x8 ft polycarbonate ar2 at 3/16" thickness... will be cut at 50"... to be used for rear and side windows

- 4.5x8 ft black "boatboard" or HDPE at 3/8" thickness... to be used for front splitter

We are going to attempt to mount the splitter in a way that I can put it on at the track. Not an easy task.

Hey Travis, how did those 18's fit?

travisjb 10-12-2009 10:26 PM

hopefully we'll know by weekend... wheels/tires in my garage, but car still in fab with junior/fathead

travisjb 10-17-2009 11:56 AM

UPDATES:
  • The car is basically done with fabrication...
  • Cage is complete, and man, I think you guys are going to be blown away... the bars follow the contours of the car so well and the design is very efficient... it's a tight fit for the driver with bars overhead, but all in all it is beautiful work
  • the doors are gutted to the point that they are basically just a 'skin'... we got every bit of weight off there... the door bars follow the countor of the doors down to perhaps 1/8th in !
  • dash is back in and fits seamlessly with cage
  • we ended up doing some custom fab work for the seat... the bride rails had it sitting up too high... unfortunately, we destroyed the bride rails in the process, so wasted some bucks... I'm not entirely satisfied with the driving position, we're doing our best to move it to the right and get it looking straight ahead... right now it is just ever so slightly pointed left - maybe 3-4 degrees counter clockwise rotation - but enough I can notice
  • momo wheel and quick release showed up and look good
  • lexan showed up... we will replace the rear window over next few weeks, and junior is also fab'ing up some corner windows
  • black 'boat board' showed up... we will build a custom front splitter with it next few weeks
  • scoops are coming along well... next order of business is to figure out how to route air from the scoops to both the rear diff cooler and rear brakes...
  • car is going to Redline on Monday for a few projects, including removal of AC, then will be headed for paint
  • for paint, the roof, window trim, front 'fang' area, rear 'diffuser' area are all getting painted black... probably a 'satin' luster... interior will be flat/matte black
  • 18x10 and 18x11 forgestars are now shoe'd in Hoosiers and will be put on for my november nasa event

No pics until car goes through paint! that will be ~3 weeks

Anyone care to guess the new weight ? assuming 3/4 fuel and 200 lbs driver... before fab we were at 3,301 lbs

MightyBobo 10-17-2009 01:20 PM

I'll guess at most 3000 lbs...by before fab, you mean before you pulled ANYTHING out?
