I agree with the VK56 mod, though I am sure you do not have to SC it yet.

Hey Travis have you seen Love the Beast? or Senna? Both great movie/documentaries about racing/motorsports (you can find them both on netflix), you'd definitely connect with Love the Beast. Highly recommended.

Keep up the push with the car man, got a lot of fans here you cant disappoint after all ;)

:tiphat:

Edit: I made it about halfway though Love the Beast before I had pause it and go drive my car lol, finished it up later.

Your situation does give you a great excuse to drop in w/e you can find that will fit.

Love the Beat - haven't seen it but will check it out when I can, thx for tip!

I think most of you know that an engine swap involves a lot of work besides just dropping in the motor! (:

Very true, very true. Just food for thought and all.

Unless of course, it's a small block Chevy going into a Miata, or RB25 into a 240. Lol

I have something similar for gokarting and it paid for itself with in a year of racing only mine was $1000. 20 bucks to mount and dismount tires adds up quickly. How much does a full size tire machine go for?

Exactly the math I was thinking!

The pair of these are are about $2,200 delivered on ebay... new with warranty... would be a bit of 2 years to payback for me, I think... and should hold some value if I ever sell down the road

Oh well that's not bad at all, plus it's way more convient to do it at home then take it to a shop. I say go for it  Forewarn though people we be nicer to you and ask to borrow it lol.

Hmm, I get my race tires mounted for $10 each, would need to mount 50 full sets of tires to get payback. The convenience factor would be huge though.

I've been thinking the same thing. Discount has upped their charge to 140 for a swap out now. I was actually thinking of just getting a mounter and taking them to be balanced afterwards, at least initially. I could also use it in my business here too, since people always want to bring me their wheels with the tires on for coating.

shaun66 03-04-2012 09:17 PM

Forgot to mention I also split the tire machine cost with a buddy I race with. So if your looking for a faster return on your investment and don't mind sharing. Thats another option :tiphat:

I have the opportunity to swap out my company car... the 135 convertible is honestly a bit boring... suspension is squishy, which defeats the purpose of the car IMO.

Has to be new. Prob no convertible this time. What's your top pick? Already in the stable are '08 ISF, '12 Tundra and of course the Z... so this will be really a fun weekend car for me when not at the track. Would be great to have room for junior and the missus, e.g., 911 or GTR.
