Looking good SPOHN ! engine bay goodies in red give it a good touch. Mesh grill has given me some ideas. Surprised none of the aftermarket mfg's have not jumped on the mesh grill, it was popular on the Z33. If they do you should ask for some royalties. Is it easy to access the oil block off plate to adjust it for the correct air flow given the environment and driving conditions (hot/cold days, track /dd)?

My grill is not removable from the front. I believe Mike (a member here) mounted his mesh setup where you can access the cooler from the outside. But can't say for sure. I can access my cooler plate from underneath. Check out my link to see how.

Agreed, underneath is where I am going to have to access it. Did you get a chance to reload the pics to the BO Plate thread?

Yes I did. The link is on my previous post above.

You tackled the grill! Looks great, I like the added mesh. Powdercoating looks great too! Props!

Thanks SPOHN, great DIY!

Went by all three of my local hardware stores earlier today and couldn't find any suitable grill material. At best they had stuff like 18 ga steel, expanded/flattened w/ 1/2" diamonds, and precut to sizes too small :(
Been digging around the net this evening looking for a suitable material, liking this one so far: Item Detail Page |
You know what I used once before? The bottom mesh section that was intended for a screen door! It worked perfectly and looked great!

I'm not sure of the gauging of my mesh. It is thin and the diamonds are small. Which is could because it will only allow in smaller debri than the OEM.
The sheet I pick up was from Home Depot in the cement area. The use this mesh for doing stucco. The sheet was about 32"x6' |

Awesome. When I went and look the people working there didn't even know what it was.

I used gutter guard. Also bought a large 24x36 inch, I think, sheet of nicer mesh from pep boys, but haven't done anything with it yet.

an industrial supply website like mcmastercarr.com has a lot of options for mesh and hardware and such...thats where I usually get my stuff like that from.
