Cubby hole mod
Here is some quick rough pics of a little prodject I'm working on. I'm currently shaping this piece of metal to install in replace of the cubby door. I still have some smoothing out to be done. I will be installing a oil pressure gauge here. Wish I could do two gauges but there's really no other worthy gauge on a NA car.
So it will look pretty simple but better than the plain cubby door that I never use really. I haven't offically decided on what finish I'm going to have on the plate. Wrapped in CF or what not. If anyone is familiar with the removing the cubby I'm going to be mounting the plate in between the outer trim and the inner cubby hole trim. They are two seperate pieces that butt up to each other. I feel I will get the cleanes look this way. I want some of that race inspired look. Anyways here's some quick pics. http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/Hotel044.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/.../Iphone043.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/.../Iphone044.jpg |
More Pics Of My Cubby Hole Mod (For Gauges)
I finally got a solid game plan of how I'll be installing my plate to install my gauges. You will see from the pics that I've monted the plate between the outer trim and the inner trim (cubby hole itself). When you seperate the two and insert the plate just bolt it back down which basically pinches the plate in place. It wont come out for I tried so slide it around to make it fit perfect and it wouldnt budge. Had to loosen it up to slide around.
I plan to use two gauges now (oil pressure and water temp) for I couldn't get past just having one gauge there. Plus a water temp is a lot more accurate than stock. I'm also going to try and place the gauges a bit lower on the plate so in the future I'll be able to add a scan tool gauge or toggle switches if needed. Now I'm waitng on my gauges so I'll know how big to cut the holes in the plate then I'm going to spray it flat black. Stay tuned. http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/parts008.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/parts006.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/parts003.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/parts002.jpg Just for jokes http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/parts007.jpg |

Clutch Helper Spring Installed
I installed this today. Pretty easy job. Love the feel now. About like my DD truck. So it wasn't all of that much of a learning expeience.

Here's my gauges I'll be installing. Oil pressure and water temp. Don't mind the water temp on the left. The gauges are universal and I still have to change the backing to the proper one. I bought the Greddy sandwich plate to stack onto my oil cooler plate. My plate I made for my gauges is going to be powder coated. So that will be nice. Hopefully I'll have this next weekend by Monday.

how does the clutch helper spring feel?
|
It feels great. You get just about an even feel of pressure all the way through now upon applying pressure to the floor. Releasing is even better for you can actully feel the engagement of the clutch.

Coming together. Going to Mike's this weekend to have powder coated. He mentioned doing a wrinkled black. That just sounds perfect for me.

Just got back from Mike's this morning from getting my gauge plate powder coated. Look carefully at the wrinkle black he done it in. I love it. Will be starting on the gauge install Monday so stay tuned for final product.
Also I want to give big props to Mike for doing this for me and suggesting the wrinkle black.:tup: I more than highly recommend him for all your powder coating needs.
