What chassis braces are you looking at? Those Nismo ones?

Where are you getting the SS brake lines? I hadn't seen any in 370Z-specific lengths on anyone's site yet.

Haha you guys are Jerks, I should've sat quietly! I should have DDM pay me for that just now.

If I'm not mistaken, CZP has SS brake lines out for us already.

You guys want to get a group discount going on some real brake pads? I can talk to Carbotech for us. They are starting production on the pads this week.

Cobalt is another option :)

Yeah, I'd be up for SS lines and pads. I was waiting on EBC Yellowstuff myself, but I'm open to other options.

I'll see if they give us a nice deal on a set of XP10's or 12's

Quote:

Carbotech™ XP10™ (1110™)

When Carbotech unleashed the XP10™ to the general public, and it was an instant success, gathering multiple regional, divisional, and national championships. The XP10™ is a very high initial bite friction material, with a coefficient of friction and rotor friendliness unmatched in the industry. Fade resistance is in excess of 1650°F. Due to the high level of friction and bite, this material is recommended for cars weighing around 2,000lbs or more, not including formula cars and cars with brake bias bars weighing less than 2,000lbs. This is the preferred compound for the front of Spec Miata racers, SSC,SSB, T3, SRF, ITS, ITE, H1,H2, H3, H4, 944 Cup, ST, GS, Factory Five Cobra’s and many more Grand-Am/ALMS/SCCA/NASA classes. XP10™ is also ideal for advanced/instructor level HPDE drivers. XP10™ still maintains the highly praised release and excellent modulation, rotor friendliness, and 100% non-corrosive dust that have made all Carbotech compounds so successful. XP10™ is not recommended as a daily-driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise.

Carbotech™ XP12™ (1112™)

The latest iteration of the highly successful XP™ series of compounds with an extremely high initial bite, torque and fade resistance than compound XP10™. XP12™ is a world leading friction compound that is unmatched as a Ceramic racing compound, with a temperature range of 250°F to 2000°F+. The XP12™ still has that excellent Carbotech release and modulation that has made all other Carbotech compounds so successful. The XP12™ is the most rotor aggressive compound Carbotech offers, but compared to the competition the XP12™ is still very rotor friendly and contains 100% non-corrosive dust. XP12™ is recommended only for expert/very advanced drivers. XP12™ is found to be most affective on race cars weighing 2,400lbs or more using R-Compound tires; or street cars weighing 3,200lbs or more for track use only. Ideal for LMP1, LMP2, DP, T1, T2, T3, H1, H2, GT1, GT2, GT3, TC, GT, ST, GS, MX-5 Cup, etc… XP12™ is NOT recommended for use as a daily driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise.

Or the Cobalt XR1/XR3 Combo which are amazing too, but waaay more corrosive on the wheels.

The EBC is a great street pad where as the Carbotech is a track only pad. Probably wouldn't want to use it on the street full time as it takes some temperature to work effectively.

RCZ 05-06-2009 09:34 PM

Everyone I know who has them + all the online reviews say they have better cold bite than most stock street pads.

I plan on only using them on the track :)

ChrisSlicks 05-06-2009 10:10 PM

You may be right about the stock pads, their cold bight is pretty lame. At the track the Carbotech's rock! Haven't tried them in the 370 yet but in every other car they've performed very well.

Yes.
It would be nice if the car could pull hard throughout the rpm range.

Meh, it's a high-revving V6, not a torque-y low-rpm V8 like my last car. I kinda like the change in character. Above 4K is where this engine really starts stretching its legs.

I'm a little confused. If they have good cold bite, better than stock street pads even, then why are you only planning to use them on the track? I'm only looking to upgrade my street pads, so maybe I'll go in for SS lines with you guys only, and get the EBC Yellows as I had originally planned.

westpak 05-07-2009 07:50 AM

yellows are track pads also, the reds are a great street/autox pad

Its a preference thing. As any good track pad is, they are noisy and dust a whole lot. If anyone ever tells you their pad is amazing at the track, quiet and low dusting, they are lying to you. So I am planning on taking them out after every trackday. That way I dont wear down my trackpads on the street...

I agree, there is no such thing as a great street/track pad

if it is good for the street it will be toast on the track, and if good for the track it will suck on the street mainly due to the noise and also dust

semtex 05-07-2009 08:33 AM

Well, I ran EBC Yellow on my 350Z with a StopTech BBK as my everyday street pads. They worked great. I never tracked them though. But according to you they're track pads, right? And you're right -- I checked with EBC and they are indeed track pads. So maybe EBC Yellows are the exception to the rule that there's no such thing as a pad that's good for both street and track (?).

interesting, I ran the Reds and were great, only squealed once in a blue moon and stopped great, but I know people that tracked them and they were notup to the extreme temps.

that is cool the yellows were good for you on the street, for the track I have seen some seasoned guys give up on the yellows though and switched to Carbotechs
