How did they not fit? Tire rub at 20mm? (Edit: NM, just saw your post in the other thread)

NT05 sound sweet! <jealous>

RCZ 01-04-2010 07:07 PM

They studs were too thin for the hub.

ZForce 01-09-2010 01:43 AM

edit: NM: I also saw the other thread about getting the wrong spacers for the rear. The correct ones from H&R should be in soon. Can't wait to see your pics of spacers and those phat Nitto's.

Update:

Swaybars have been installed. Havent really tested it out too much, but holy...corners completely flat and the whole car feels solid. I would recommend my setup to anyone who wants to get some serious performance from their Z, but doesnt want to go full race. Once I get some more time with the car, I will write something more extensive.

While installing the swaybar I noticed oil dripping from the plastic cover....turns out the sandwich adapter is completely loose and could be turned by hand. Naturally there was oil sipping through the seam and I dont know just how much is gone. I had my last oil change done at the dealership....I know they have no idea what they are doing, but come on, its a damn oil change! DO SOMETHING RIGHT you idiots. How hard is it to change oil? It's what you do every day of your life! /vent. Needless to say angry phone call coming their way.

Rear Spacer getting installed Monday...if all goes well, pictures coming.

Also...the deal I was making with that carbon fiber mfg didnt end up materializing because it wasnt really what I was looking for. I got in contact with a new company though and they are talking full carbon kit. Fingers crossed. Meeting with them this week as well. So maybe I will have some carbon parts for you guys after all.

travisjb 01-10-2010 12:58 AM

Re oil change... so sad and so predictable, I'm glad you were able to catch it... my standard practice at this point is either do it myself (just bought a lift and 6 gallons of motul!), have my race prep shop do it, or literally watch the greasemonkey guys as they turn every wrench... unfortunately just can't trust the grease and go guys, dealers included! give em hell

ZForce 01-10-2010 11:56 AM

Good catch on the oil (no pun intended). Yeh you gotta watch em, I also have the dealer change mine and I stand over them like a hawk because I am gettinng an oil sample to send off for a Used Oil Analysis.

Could you provide a link or the post # on your sway bar setup? I cannot remember which thread, seems there are alot on sways, but this one was on which sways to go with. I think I read that for my set up with Eibach springs and OEM struts that Stillen would work good and Hotchkis is for a stiffer suspension set up. Correct me if I am wrong, still learning this suspension stuff.

Cheers
Curtis

* I dont know that there is a specific post, but I can tell you I got hotchkis swaybars. Reason being that they are a bit more aggressive than the Stillen ones and they would work better for my coilover setup. I think the Stillen will work GREAT with your Eibach spring, perhaps better than most the others, and they are by far the more attractively priced set of the ones that are available. Give Josh or Kyle a ring, I'm sure they will hook you up Curtis. If you have any more questions, shoot. We are all here to help.

They sell Motul here at AutoZone, so I think I'm just going to pick up some of that and give it a go. I have never tried Motul oil, but I've heard it burns quickly. Is this true? I do my changes every 3k miles or so, so I'm not all that worried even if that is the case.

On another note, finally everything is installed and the car is a dream to drive. Body roll is almost nonexistent with the bars. I will snap some pictures later for those of you who wanted to see what 15mm front spacers and 20mm rear spacers look like on the sport wheels.

Also, looks like those carbon fiber bits (read: full carbon body kit) are a go. I don't know if any of you have heard of iCarbon, but they make some very nice quality stuff for the BMW 135i. Here are some pics I found on vividracing's site.

Who else is in for an add-on lip spoiler kit?? Carbon Diffuser? Its all coming soon.

ctzn 01-13-2010 10:32 AM

^ Count me in for all of it.

Look forward to seeing your set up, I have Stillen sways with Eibach springs on my car so I will give my impressions compared to yours shortly when I get some miles in.

travisjb 01-13-2010 01:12 PM

carbon looks great... re motul, wouldn't surprise me, I don't have enough experience with it yet to really say... but many racers change all their fluids before every event... I'm hoping to stretch it out more than that of course... we'll see

Hey thanks for the advise, Josh @ Stillen is my go to guy. Stillen sways is on my list now. Enjoy your journal, very informative and well written.

I am in for pics of your wheel spacers. Carbon Fibre looks great!

Re: oil, I have heard and read some good results from some used oil analysis on Mobil 1 for track use on the Z33. Not much posted up on the Z34. Very good reading on Resolute' (Will) used oil analysis (UOA) thread on my350z. (Resolute) has a write up on Nissan's esther oil, although it may have gotten buried in all the posts on his thread. There is some data on Motul posted, if interested. I had good results from my type of driving (daily driving) with Pennzoil Platinum. Choosing the best oil really depends on your driving habits, and a used oil analysis will show what is going on with the internals.

Thanks, OK guys for sure I will have the spacer shots up by today. I have been lazy...

I had a meeting with the iCarbon guys yesterday. Let's just say I am very excited and you all should be too. We have a bunch of parts lined up, so if you were thinking about buying some exterior stuff...might want to hold up the parade for a few weeks.

theDreamer 01-15-2010 09:32 AM

RCZ, what are the parts they are thinking of creating?
~Stock
~Lips/add-ons to stock
~New complete replacements

I know it is early but just getting some ideas of what to look forward to. :D

There are a bunch of ideas on the table that are getting designed right now. I just received a quick render of the rear diffuser and the thing is sick! First shot at it, they already made something I would put on my car. No, I will not post the picture, you guys will have to wait a bit.

There will be some add-ons and complete replacements, no real point in remaking stock stuff.

On another note, as promised here are a few quick shots of the spacers.

H&R 15mm Front + H&R 20mm Rear. Remember I have TONS of negative camber on the front, which is why it looks in a little still. On a less aggressive alignment, the wheel would be flush like the rear one is.

Well that settles that, 15 in the front & 20 in the rears, thank you RCZ.
