Default Terbo's 370 Dyno day/Berk exhaust install!

After months of anticipation, my Berk cat back exhaust and hi flow cats finally came in the mail a week or so back. This last Friday I scheduled to have everything installed and dyno'd before and after the install at my local tuner shop, Robert's Imports (big shout-out to them!) I woke up bright and early Friday, my dad swung by and we loaded up the new exhaust in it's ginormous box and headed out to the shop. We get there, unload everything and within 10 minutes my car is strapped to their DynoDynamics dyno. We did three runs to establish a nice baseline.

Each run overlaid the previous almost exactly, and the average peak power was 258 whp. Next my car was taken off the dyno and put up on the rack in order to get a set of new pipes.

Getting on the rack.

Under the beast. Stock exhaust.

All stock.

While Bill, the shop manager, was working on removing all the stock components, I tore open the new goodies.

New high-flow cats.

Berk Cat Back Exhaust all laid out and still wrapped.

It's Christmas!

Old and busted.

After a good 1/2 hour of wailing away on the stupid cats, Bill finally got them out. For some reason Nissan's engineers are morons and didn't design this with maintenance in mind so it makes removing the stock cats very very difficult. I.E. rounding off a bolt or two.

Bill happy the stock cats are finally off.

New Berk Hi-Flow cats on!

X Pipe installed.

Berk CBE installed!

New hotness!

While it was still in the air, I checked all the stuff I've read of people giving them grief. I measured the gap between the tips and the bumper and checked the hangers. Everything checked out perfectly. The gap between the tips and bumpers was exactly the same, not even a 32nd difference. Beautiful fit and finish!

Pure sexiness.

Now that the exhaust was installed, it was time to strap it back on the dyno and see what it would do.

This first run was a bit surprising, only putting down 266whp for a gain of +8whp peak. Bill thought this odd and noticed that the coolant temps were not up to proper operating temps yet, so we let it run on the dyno for a few minutes while it warmed up. Once it was nice and warm, Bill let her rip once more.

This run was just as Bill suspected, the power increased to 270whp. The next two runs were done back to back.

These two runs produced exactly the same graphs. Peak power went up to 273whp (okay okay, 272.8, but it's close enough we're going to call it 273.) +14whp on a dynodynamics, not bad methinks. In case you were wondering, the DynoDynamics dynos do read lower than Mustang dynos and Dynojets. Typically the Mustang reads 14% higher while the Dynojet will read 18% higher.

+14whp!

So that's my dyno day. Bill said that after a few drives that the ECU would relearn my driving and the car may pick up a few more whp even. I have taken video of driving the car with stock exhaust and with the new Berk CBE and cats, I just have yet to get around to uploading it. I'll be sure to update this thread when I do As for the sound? It's orgasmic. So very sexy. I can actually feel and hear the car now, unlike when it was stock. When cruising it can be quiet and unsuspecting, but when you lay the hammer down it just roars. I love it!
