Christian370Z's Progression Thread

You would like this Blox 490 weighted shift knob. It's too heavy and dense for notchiness or vibration.

I haven't updated this in a while, wow! Just wanted to say that I will be installing my PWJDM shift knob tonight and just ordered a set of Bridgestone RE-11s (265f 285r) so those will be installed next Wednesday. I can't wait!

What kind of mileage do you have on yours? I don't drive much, less than 5,000 miles a year so I'm not as worried about tread wear.

Welcome to the RE11's club. Mine have been on for about 8k miles, very sticky, very predictable, along with swifts and stillen sways... a perfect combo. Installing PWJDM shift knob today after a long wait under the x-mas tree. After a lot of research on the tire width for sport wheels I went with 265/285. Your ride is starting to look like mine or mine like yours.

I currently have about 7k on mine. That's with three track days. Which track days don't really take all that much life away. But I still have a good bit of life on them. More so the fronts than rear. I have had about two alignments done since they've been installed and good thing cause both alignments the toe was out. But no abnormal wear.

Default Finally! PWJDM Shift Knob Installed

It took me a long time since my car was gone for a couple weeks and I didn't have time to tear into the stock knob, but I finally installed my PWJDM shift knob with a titanium base and it is PERFECT.

It did require me to create a way to raise the shift boot by cutting a small plastic bottle cap and placing that onto the shifter before placing the boot over it. This leaves the boot sitting perfectly with the base of the PWJDM shift knob. Also, my stock knob was a b*tch to get off, it is all torn up.

As far as shifting feel, my thoughts mirror others: shifting is significantly easier and smoother, with the shift knob feeling just right size wise for my hand. It also looks so classy, I am honestly blown away what PWJDM produced for such a reasonable price.

Now, the next thing is to have my RE-11s installed Thursday morning and that should be the end of my mods for a little while! (I know I know, famous last words).

I went the same route with the bottle cap mod. I used a larger bottle for the strength around the cap area. Looks good Christian!! Did you notice and difference in the shift between 1st and 2nd?

Thanks! It makes the 1-2 gear shift a bit easier and smoother since it falls into gear a bit easier. Other than that, you still have to take your time with that shift if you want to be smooth!

I agree with 1st & 2nd smothness. Have not had it it out much to really test the other gears and quickness, but after seeing your onboard videos I will take you word on it any day.

GL with the RE11's, I know you will enjoy them...I do

After reading all the universally gleaming reviews of the Bridgestone RE-11s, I finally got my RE-11s installed and it made a world of difference to the car. It feels so much grippier and progressive at the limit, and the tires are much quieter than the RE050s. Also, in straight line acceleration the car hooks up much better with little to no traction loss in power shifts from 1st to 2nd. It just hooks up and goes. The last thing is the additional width helped close off some additional fender gap and the car looks so mean with that chunky tread!

I'm already in love with them and they aren't even broken in yet, definitely a recommended upgrade from the stock RE050s.

265/35-19s and 285/35-19s, perfect fit in my opinion and it makes the car more neutral.

New angle on the GoPro, I'm going to try cropping it but it gives a pretty good depiction of the way the car sounds during normal driving and when you get on it.
