By 1 PM tomorrow there will be 8 videos up on YouTube of each thing that has been removed so far. Nothing major, mostly self explanatory items up to this point. The front bumper was a bit different to remove then our 09 370s because of the wiring harness for the sensors.

Current plan is to remove heat exchanger next, then air boxes or intercoolers, and which ever of those two after. Exhaust and downpipes will follow after that. What I hope to gain by leaving everything out is a clear line of sight on the down pipes from up top. So I can attack them from two sides.

Mr&Mrs 11-06-2023 10:45 AM

A lot more content is up on Youtube and I try to post daily on IG. Check them out for more frequent updates.

This past weekend plus Friday I was able to get the factory upper and lower downpipes out, the new full length race catted downpipes in, and the boost logic system fully adjusted and fitted. Man is it an extremely high quality system. It took me, my dad, and even my wifes tiny arms in some places roughly 20 hours to get it done. Even if I had access to a lift I think it would of taken at least 10-12 hours. Doing it on jack stands is obviously doable but I wouldn't recommend it unless you like turning bolts 1/8th turn at a time for 15 minutes to get one bolt out, while laying on you back. If you do go for it, its a fun challenge.

I still have not ordered my wheels because Rohana's time to respond to questions isn't quick, and I keep coming up with more. All currently ordered parts have arrived except the LBWK kit and Swift springs. I also ended up going with the full LBWK vs the partial order I originally made. The original pieces were set to arrive sometime in December, im not sure if adding more will delay that or not.

I hope to have the car fired up by the end of next week. Could be sooner depending on how hurt I am, and if the tuner can get me my base MAP in time.

:driving: Soon

Update for the OG's

I cancelled the swift springs and went the with Z1 R-PRO Coilovers, I installed those last weekend. Rohana still has not finalized my build specs, I guess end of the year they are more busy with vacations and promoting the brand. I do have a render that will be close to the final design, but its for my eyes only right now :stirthepot:

The LBWK pieces will be arriving roughly one month apart with the first half now confirmed by the end of December. Which is fine because I still do not have a schedule set in stone with the body shop.

Im currently in the slow process of remote tuning with Sonictuned. I just completed the Rev.1 Data log, I think there is only one more to do. "Knock on Wood" Looks like all my installations went well to make it this far into it.

Car is being dropped off at Z1 by January 6th for the new VRX70B turbos to be installed, along with all the AMS fueling goodies needed to max out those turbos limits. I'm going to try and keep it in the 650ish WHP Range, which from what I hear is pretty safe long term on this engine. I may have them do one hero run just for a dyno chart to show off because it should be able to easily do into the 700's.

:driving:

Here is a pic as she currently sits on coilovers. The photos are not at the same angle so it doesnt show the drop well. I only went an 1" lower for now until it settles. If it doesnt dropa little more I may go another 1/2". Im not trying to worry about scraping all over this time around.

Those heights look exactly the same :)

They don't. Different perspective. In the top image the wheels look slightly higher.

They do lol but its because one picture is from a higher angle like @cooltoy mentioned. I only done an inch to start and it was enough that I couldn't get the jack out from behind the car. I had to use small blocks under the rear wheels, even though it fit fine to raise it before the install. I can say the back gap seems a bit higher, but looking through my photos I feel like it was the same way before. The body is pretty level from behind the front wheels, and in front of the back wheels.

filip00 11-30-2023 03:24 PM

I believe you, I'm just kidding because the pics really don't show it. You gotta make comparison pics that are both flat from side.

But anyway, I think 1 inch is literally the height difference you need on most Z's. More than that already looks very low, and it may slightly interfere with how it rides. If you put spacers so that you will the wheel well flush with the rim, 1 inch drop is just exactly what you need.

Here is one I found that is much closer to the same angle. You can see it here for sure. Love how I say found and its literally my avatar lmfao

Definitely lower in the bottom pick.

Quick update:

Rohana LB Works wheels spec'd and ordered finally! Factory intercoolers coated with a heat extraction coating. The matte black is also more visually pleasing than the raw aluminum. For those not aware the AMS Intercoolers do not work with the VRX70B turbos. Turbo housings dropped off to get the heat treatment sauce as well.

The install is now local with BTuned Performance instead of Z1. With this large of a job I am more comfortable with the car being close to home, and Btuned has a good reputation from what I have found. I have quite a few Axis CF parts on order but they are about 3 months off from arriving still.

Little pic of the intercoolers below.

Mr&Mrs 01-04-2024 06:45 AM

Turbo housings are coated. Still waiting on my CHRA's and AMS Flex Fuel kit. Got a couple more of my Axis parts. My first ever full sponsorship of Ti Lugs as well from Bulletproof Automotive. If you want to call it that they didnt make me sign any contract. Saved me close to 400 bucks so I was very happy. Sorry I dont have photos of the Turbo housings so its a link to a short instagram video.

Bad as build. Love it so far!

Mr&Mrs 02-02-2024 03:16 PM

Its been almost a month already, wow. New update:

- Wheels and tires have arrived.
- Last pieces of the body kit should be here end of the month.
- Turbo install was delayed until end of this month due to Z1 slacking.
- AlphaRex Headlights ordered
- Fuel Sock to elminate possible fuel starve
- Bunch of other little things.

Links to insta posts with wheel teaser, tire choice, and UPS dropping my wheels off literally. Sorry its linking to instagram if you dont like it, but I dont know how to put stuff on this site anymore other than attaching photos.

Little update, its been hectic. Car is currently at BTuned motor is out turbos are halfway on. Z1 didnt send a coupe C-Clips that have us stalled out until tomorrow or the weekend. The guy that was supposed to do my body work is now booked out 2 years. I guess he didnt take me seriously even though I called him once a month with an update for 6 months on timelines. I have a tentative shop to install the pieces andhe said he can squeeze in painting them. The hopeful public reveal at Zcon is actually starting to look difficult. Im trying to talk the shop into letting me help with the work to speed up the process but I dont know if they will let me.

Mr&Mrs 04-03-2024 06:34 PM

Went to pick the car up last Friday. It isnt making boost. Everything that can be easily checked seems fine. All logs look good except the Turbo speeds which are reading like bad speed sensors, but that still does not explain literally 0 boost pressure. No signs of turbo damage which again is unlikely because they are brand new and I very carefully assembled them myself. Shop says they free spin by finger so no way they are bound up. Obviously no boost leak large enough to cause this either so even if a smoke test found a tiny leak we'd be making some kind of boost with these big boys.

Figures out of like a 8 years of this engines lifespan I have some mystery problem. A second shop has no backed out of the body work as well and I have lined up a third with a rough start at the end of this month. Hoping the turbo problem is sorted out by then lol

Have you reflashed the tune? When I installed
my kit, got it tuned on the dyno, worked good. Drove it home, no boost, and felt sluggish. Something happened with the tune, re-setting ECU didn’t work, but tuner reloaded the tune and boost came back. Car feel/run fine otherwise, just no boost?

Car hadnt even been tuned yet we just loaded a base map to start it up and check some vitals. Then we ran a cruising log and when that checked out tried to do our first WOT log. Turbos were only showing between 24-30k RPMs. These have to be at 50K to start making boost. Even if the WGA were completely bypassing it would still be making like 7-9lbs of boost.

Everything you can think of was checked and seemed fine. Motor finally is back out and the Turbos are being sent to Z1. Im not happy that my car has been put to the back of all the new work coming in but I dont really have any choice in the matter. Well I do but it would be much more cost.

Z1 just called, we know the problem. CHRAs are in the wrong housings. They have not revised the instructions to these turbos yet and the person that gave me the instructions via email, left it out, or didn't know themself. They are getting them swapped over and covering a large portion of the extra costs that this has caused. Top notch customer support.

Mr&Mrs 05-08-2024 01:20 PM

The Z is home, trying to get it fully tuned this week and have it dropped off at the body shop early next week. Have the HKS Carbon Radiator Brace and GruppeM Carbon Ram Air system on order. The rest of my Axis Carbon parts arrived yesterday and im shipping out the Liberty Walk rear diffuser this week to get wrapped in Carbon.

Mr&Mrs 05-18-2024 03:05 PM

Car is at the body shop! I didn't get to finish street tuning it before needing to drop it off unfortunately. I see my photo bucket photos are completely gone from here now, thats sad. I thought they would at leats keep the water mark and stay. I have probably lost access to them all at this point. I tried to attach some photos from a photo shoot I had done right before dropping the car off at the body shop, but the file attachment window will not work anymore. Maybe it has a size limit? I really dont want to use another hosting site nor do I know any.

So the drama continues. Car sat at the body shop for over two weeks, which in a way was a good thing. Their lead fabricator injured his shoulder and needed surgery the weekend before they were to start on my car. He would be out 3 months. So needless to say that isn't enough time to have it ready for the show. I had to pick up all the parts and bring the car home.

Little problem with that was my easy means of getting the hood home. My in-laws sold their truck the week before and for the first time ever got a second car. So I ended up taking my factory hood off, driving there with no hood, and installed the Liberty Walk hood in the parking lot. Factory hood uses studs welded inside the skin. Liberty Walk preinstalled rivnuts. So I grabbed a few sets of sizes and went for it. Everything went well until trying to install the hood latches. For some reason they are fine thread and everything else is coarse thread. So naturally Liberty Walk put coarse thread rivnuts everywhere. Thank goodness there is a mechanic shop as well. So I asked if they had a tap set. Luckily they did, so I rethreaded the rivnut to fit the fine bolt latches. Then the hood wouldnt close! It looked to be hitting the strut bar, so I removed that and it closed.

Got it home and the next day started to do a complete fitment of the hood. I installed the 3 point CF strut brace ive had laying around. Which requires removal and cutting of the windshield plastic shroud. It is a lower profile than the factory bar so I figured maybe that will get us the clearance we need and retain the strut bar. NOPE hood wont latch. So I used a camera to try and find exactly where it was hitting and it was not hitting it anywhere. WTF!

I had the shop put AAM silicone hoses everywhere while the motor was out. The main feed going to the intercoolers was too long and hitting the hood then pressing into the ECU. They should have cut this but didnt. So I went ahead and cut it since I had already spent the entire day fooling with fitment and the strut bar. Tried to close the hood again, still wont latch. I then decided to adjust the hood latches and boom it locked. The only reason I didn't try this first was because you could visibly see the hood bending in the middle as if it were hitting something when fully depressed.

So I take the car to the gas station to top it off with some 98 and try to bring my E content down a bit more since it will be sitting a while. When pulling up to the pump I start to hear a terrible knocking noise. To keep this a bit more brief I have no idea what it is. It goes away with throttle so I do not think its bottom end or top end noise. Ive just spent heaps of money on this car and I dont want it sounding like a **** box. My first thought was I got air trapped from opening the coolant system. Next morning I go get some coolant, drain the entire system, and refill it with my vacuum bleeder. Start the car up. Got excited because I couldn't hear anything at first, then it started making the sound again! So it wasn't air, but that's ok the system needs to be properly filled after opening it up. You can pretty much only hear it from inside the car as well. SO im clueless as to what it could be. I went out and just "sent it" figuring if I blow it up I guess I will just build the block. I took a log and sent to my tuner hopefully he sees nothing and its just a phantom rattle of some kind.

Somehow I managed to talk a 4th body shop into at least meeting with me during this time above. They agreed to hear me out and take on the job. Insuring it will be ready in time for the show. "Fingers Crossed" In my area what I'm running into is no one wanting to do anything beyond insurance claims. Its quick easy money. The custom work just doesn't pay as well. Especially considering the quality of most kits that get brought to them. I told the lead guy that will be working on my car not to go out and hurt himself until my job is finished LoL. He had a bunch of photos of 240s he worked on years ago before this insurance meta started. They all look great as does the insurance work I was able to see.

The phantom noise I will try and figure out once this damn body work is done. Bad pic but the engine bay is coming along nicely. All thats left is installing CF engine cover, HKS CF radiator cross beam cover, and GroupeM CF Ram air system.

xxAGAVExx 06-12-2024 02:57 PM

Ouch, some headaches for sure. Hopefully this new body shop works out for you, can’t wait to see your completed Z at ZCON.

Sorry I didn't realize you needed an Instagram to view it. I do not have any pictures with the clear coat on it yet, well I do, but keeping them until after ZCON. The blue should look familiar :icon17: it has been one of if not my favorite colors ive owned, the accelerate yellow on the vette is really nice as well. So I wanted to have a piece of it with me on this car. I decided a cool theme could be the new car/color kind of peeling away the old car/color, but with a nice gradient transition. Edit: Also I had them remove the yellow from the paint formula of the new Zs pearl and add blue in its place in equal quantity. She is super white pearl now.

We made it to ZCON! The car was a hit with spectators and one of the highest scoring Zs by the judges. In the event of a tie the older Z wins for best of the Judged show. The car that won was absolutely beautiful and freshly restored. I meant to ask how close I was with scoring to see what I can improve on. I know I got 99/100 on exterior speaking with the judge after the show. We secured Most Overall Points Peoples Choice, Peoples Choice RZ34, Nissan Factory Favorite Best Modified (selected by Nissan Designer), and 1st Place Ultra Modified Z. Here are some pictures. So happy to finally have it out in the wild.
