Sorry to hear that and happy that you are doing better! Nice to know you still have your Z and still invested enough to lurk, lol. It seems like you got good news in away about your clutch issue. Don't be a stranger check in and harrass us from time to ti time!

Final update hopefully on the issue. Dropped the car off Wednesday morning and went to pick it up late yesterday. When he called to tell me it was ready he said nothing was wrong and it was put back together exactly how Nissan shows it. That had me bothered because if it went back together the same way again, the problem would still be there.
So I picked it up drove it....same problem. The shop wanted me to come back Monday and look at it with them. So I called Z1 again and had them explain to me in detail what to do (luckily very simple just as mentioned before). I used a couple of their tools and fixed it in the parking lot before I left. Nothing had to be rotated or reassembled, the shop really did have everything together properly. I literally had to slide a metal plate like an 1/8” or less to the left. I think they were just super nervous to be working on the car and wanted everything to be exactly as it was. To the point they were not understanding what I was trying to explain. Emphasizing that the parts on the car are not replaceable and the care I give it had them shook up lol Little headache on both ends but now she is back to perfect. Now I can’t wait to get this clutch broke in and finally feel all the power that has been lurking behind a slipping clutch. Unfortunately as little as I drive it that could take a year! I’m going to try and force myself to take it everywhere though. |
Cool deal. Go out and have a big time in it. I know it is very hard to do. Just remember a little patina is expected. It's just memories the car shows of your enjoyment. It can all be fixed again if need be.

Easy fixes are the best

Yep, time to fall in love with her again. I know that I have tendency to not want drive my car anytime I do a detail on the car. What is equally funny is I have to detail the car before I go to a track event. Like it is a car show or something!

Car is for sale again. If nothing comes from it this time, it can just fade away in the garage for ever Lol. Finally got a new ride after years of waiting/shopping around. I really wish I liked the 400Z to stay in the family but I just really cant stand the front end of the thing. To many years all smashed into one design IMO. The side profile is good and the retro rear is outstanding, if they only could of kept that flow throughout the entire car.
For anyone curious the Corvette route was still one of my top choices next to a GTR. I couldnt get an allocation for a C8 or a GTR and I couldnt trust a used GTR no matter how hard I tried. So I had to keep shopping around until I found a Vette with virtually zero miles and optioned how I wanted it. After over 2 years it finally happened. Took my pops for a spin the day after she got delivered. He was blown away by how nice of a job they have done on the C8. I dont fit well in the average demographic of the community but I dont mind I have been a hermit the last 8 or 9 years anyway lol. I have a list of mods lined up and some have already arrived and more on the way. It isnt as performance mod friendly as I had liked so im taking my time on that end. It will more than likely end up boosted :driving: |
So multiple car sales have fallen through. Last one a few weeks ago and I just have not relisted it yet. So far I have done a few visual mods to the vette, CF interior accents, and badge delete. I put in a set of Paragon Performance concave mirrors with glare reduction. Blind spots are a beast in a mid engine car. I just put a deposit on a Callaway Supercharger kit but not sure how it will pan out. It was just shown this weekend at a huge Vette meet that happens yearly. I spoke with them on the phone and was told it works with HTC's but a bunch of forum members are saying it does not, and some are saying you have to have it factory installed on a new car. I was told on the phone that they are doing a "second chance" program for prior purchased C8s though. I hope it works out because you keep the factory warranty with Callaway. If not I will end up going TT. Still may go TT if the kit doesnt produce power at least close to the Z06.
|
***Sold*** Bitter sweet moment. Im happy about the person who purchased it and what they have planned. But man watching the old gal drive away was like sending a kid off. Not to mention DAMN she fine! You dont ever get to see how good it looks when driving it.

So the new owner of the Z has been keeping me updated on the car and is active on social media. I do not use any social media, except forums I guess, so she sends me pics. The wife also shows me some of the stuff that's gets posted on IG and stuff like that. It has been fun to see the car enjoyed. I really neglected it from that perspective. Additional mods have been tasteful so far and based on her other Z im not too worried about the original vision from Dave and I going forward. Obviously want to stay in touch and asked to be offered the chance to purchase the car back if she ever sells it. Who knows what time holds and if given the opportunity to get the car back I may take it.
The C8 so far has been an unreliable mess and I cant find a dealership willing to go the extra mile that I give my cars. Currently it has been sitting at Stingray Chevrolet waiting on a back ordered part for 2+ weeks and it isnt even the first time its been there for the issue. They also refuse to do a simple transmission flush and filter change that could help eliminate known transmission failures countless people have had. Reason: The car isnt showing any codes.....Yeah that's the point by then its to late! I am currently working with GM to find a dealership near me that will do the job as countless others have had it done on the C8 forums. Some good news. I was an early adopter for the Callaway SC system and part of an internal monthly update. Positions were assigned and though I have not called and clarified I think im in position 10. This is based on numerous factors including date deposit was submitted, whether or not you already own your C8, and if it is a Coupe or HTC. Mine is the HTC so it may start production shortly after the Coupes because of the clearance issues with the top down. First impressions of the C8 are mixed. Its hard to explain but it doesnt feel like a drivers car. Even with all the helper systems turned off I do not feel as connected to the road as with all my previous sports cars. However the car literally checks all the boxes I, and most sports car enthusiasts look for. On top of providing comfort beyond anything I ever imagined in said sports cars. That could be where the disconnect from the road is coming. The car is ballistic from 0-60 with the aide of launch control. Ive never owned a car on street tires I could get to hook up and pull like this one. Not even my AWD cars. The downside is anything over 70 I feel like I could get out and run faster. That will be solved sometime next year though! |

Almost forgot I found this guy over on the C8 forums and he is amazing. Brian Manaco. I guess there is a chance hes already on this forum but I dont know. He crates personalized renders of your vehicles. So far Ive had him do the two Zs and the Vette because I had easy access to photos.
I will be sending him all my past cars and motorcycles though so I can immortalize them to the wall of my garage. Here is a sample of his work and some eye candy of the rides. |

Not surprised by this at all. I have a simulator setup at home with Assetto Corsa and you can really easily tell how any of the cars in it are actually to drive IRL. Corvette is very much like various Ferraris - you've got loads of grip and it feels super planted, but you only ever experience these benefits of such cars if you're driving 120mph or faster. On normal speeds the car gives 0 feedback, 0 fun and is horrible to drive. What I mean by this - let's say there's a slow corner that you can easily drift in a Z in second gear. In these cars you've got no chance. They will either have way too much grip, or you'll accelerate so quickly that you'll just fly out of the corner crashing. I can totally imagine what it's like to drive a C8 on the street and what you're saying. Sure, it's lightning fast and expensive and all other wows, but I don't for a moment think it can be as fun as Z unless we're driving 120+ mph. And in normal circumstances (i.e. not being on the track), the car is probably not fun at all. |
Quote:
If my body still allowed it I would probably choose to drive the Z on most occasions over the C8 though for sure. |
Nah, don't get me wrong, I believe the car is loads of fun, but you know the old saying: It's much more fun to drive a slow car fast, than to drive a fast car slow. And I honestly believe that your C8 is one of those really fast cars that you can't actually let loose unless you're on the track. I mean that's not just a street car, it's a street legal racecar.

So I will be rejoining the Z family (waiting to sign papers as we speak). Found a Z at basically MSRP from a dealership in Indiana. Funny that's where the Blue 370Z came from as well. I have missed the Z family and plan to do another great build with this one. Starting with either a Pandem or Liberty Walk body kit. They really make the car have the modern retro look I wish Nissan had done from the beginning. Mostly fixing the hideous front end.

I have only one picture because everyone is taking sweet *** time shipping the car to me. Couple more fun facts including finding/buying two Z's from Indiana. It will be almost 1 year from the day I sold the last Z that this one arrives. The car has exactly 9 miles on it and both our prior Z's were 09's.

I feel like I was in the car all day and we only put 85 miles on it. Break in periods suuuuuck. First impressions are great. Though we haven’t went over 4k RPMs and 1/4 throttle, you can tell she wants to stretch her legs. There is just something about how this chassis delivers power that makes me smile. The front end feels a little floaty but I did notice the tires were over inflated. Correcting that should help a little. The exhaust is so quiet I thought they rolled it off of the truck. Strangely enough, the sound inside the cabin is pleasing. So from an engineering standpoint bravo. It will have to be upgraded ASAP though. That sound needs to be delivered to everyone. Haha
The interior feels like home having previously owned 370z’s. What some may consider minor updates, to me, really take it to a perfect level. I love that all the silver trim is now black chrome and though I would of liked color matching the interior stitching, the black is nice. It seems to have all the features I look for in a modern interior. The exterior is so much better in person. I do not think I’ve ever experienced this same effect with another car. In photos I’ve always despised the front end. It looked like a clash of 3 different designs mashed into one. I’ve spent the last two weeks shopping for parts. A good portion of that time was deciding what I wanted to do with the front visually. It grew on me quite a bit during that time. Now seeing it in person I have no real complaints. It definitely needs something for my taste but it isn’t gut wrenching like I originally felt. The car is absolutely stunning up close. The pearl white has to be seen in person to truly appreciate. Overall I can’t be happier. Some say the price is too high. I think 54k loaded is just about right for this car. Yeah it’s got reused parts but heck, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it! I’ve always loved Datsuns and feel like I have a reimagined one now. Enough blabber here are some pics by the local motocross track. |
Looks good! Can’t wait to see some updates after your installs!

Practically spent an entire day in the car. Burnt out most of the gas and filled it up. Took a couple quick pics on the way home. I have always despised socials but I've noticed forums are pretty slow. So my wife and a fellow Z member talked me into making some social accounts. If you want to continue following all the updates of the car, here is its instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecrew_tv/ I also made a youtube for install videos, twitter, and facebook. The latter two will probably just be duplicate photos to instagram. If you want the youtube let me know im not trying to look like a self promoting boob.
Edit: And of course I will occasionally post updates here! |

In the end I dont think I could go wrong picking any of them. Right now im mostly liking the Impul kit lol. However it doesnt come in CF that I know of and I really want to go with CF accents on this car. |
Looks like ZCON is in my neighborhood next year Sept 9-14th in Tampa! I hope to be there with the new build!

Pandem looks great. It gives the nose the well needed length, just like Amuse does for 370Z.

Tomorrow I'm going to start doing some unboxing clips of all the parts. Installs will follow after. I've kind of went crazy on orders with this. I guess that's what happens when someone who like to mod cars doesn't do it for a few years :icon17:.
I've went back and forth so many times with what look, or body pieces I wanted. A mixture of not knowing how they look in person, to wanting something not out there, to the looooong wait for JDM parts. So im actually piecemealing from multiple different companies. Currently the order has been placed for a few JDM parts, I will reveal which company in the future :stirthepot:. As far as I know there are none of them in the US yet. Side skirts I'm undecided on at the moment. I do not want to distract too much from the natural aesthetics of the car. I had an idea of what wheels I wanted but that was when I was leaning more towards a complete kit. For now I may stick with the spacers and stock wheels. Who knows just typing it out tempts me to make a phone call. Knowing me I will have them ordered by the end of the day :rofl2:. May as well leave a couple more pics while im here :driving: |
First unboxing video is up on youtube. Man its hard to talk to a camera. I feel fine until right before I hit record lol. Id rather have someone on the other side or even next to me that I am explaining things to. Hopefully I get used to it. I am posting the other video soon just got done recording it.
It will be where I post the install videos. I wrote a guide or two here that I feel like were decent so hopefully I can translate that to video for everyone. Stop by and check out the tube if youd like =) My YouTube Channel |

So I was struggling to understand why this Z had poor audio. I then learned later model 370z's and into this model have some goofy things going on. Fake exhaust sound and noise cancelation.
I got in this morning with a nice service advisor that happens to own a 370z. So being a fellow enthusiast they were more than happy to help. Fifty dollars even, in and out in less than 30 minutes. We turned off both ANC/ASE. Impressions: Road noise is significantly louder. I prefer as much feedback as I can get so this is no issue for me. Some people will definitely want to leave noise suppression on though. The fake exhaust sound is completely gone and the car is super quiet (for) now. The Bose system is marginally better. Hopefully once the speakers are broken in I get a bit better base. Id be surprised to find out this had the exact same system as the 370z's because they sound much better IMO. So if you are hoping this fixes the poor audio it wont. It does help enough that I don't feel the need to upgrade anything for my personal usage. |
Can't get enough of this car. Keep posting them pics!

All the way up to 6 unboxings! The Youtube has quick commentary at the end. Will have more soon, another large order placed on the 12th! Plus body kit choice was made an ordered but that is a surprise for another time. Will be up to 6 month wait, maybe longer kit isnt in production yet.
Windows tinted today. Edit: Already told you guys about the body kit. Keeping to many places updated oof. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxLfo...RlODBiNWFlZA== |

I totally missed this! Congrats on the new Z!
I’m in the minority here, but I think the z34.5 looks better than the 370z. :happydance: Also, white is the fastest color. Good job. |
