djpathfinder,

Those pics look great!! You picked up your 40th the same day I picked up my roadster, did you buy it at Sherwood Nissan? The salesman told me there was a guy picking up a 40th the same day, was that you?

We'll have to chat during the next GTG!!

Congrats on your new ride, looks awesome. Nice photos too. Ever thought of de-badging the car? I de-badge all my cars and think it looks much cleaner. The 370Z looks great without the badges.

No, haven't given any thought about debadging...I kinda like them.

Ha ha, too funny! Yup, picked mine up from Sherwood on March 19 in the afternoon. I first saw it parked in the bay on March 16...until then, I had only seen pictures of the 40th edition. Seeing it in person pretty much made my decision for me. They had just gotten it on the weekend...their first 40th. The wife and I couldn't come back for a test drive of a Z until Mar 18. They knew I was interested in the 40th Anniv, but I didn't put a deposit down on it. I figured, if it's still there we may go for it, if not, we'll look at another colour. Fortunately it was still available. Test drove a blue 2009 demo that they had, talked numbers and sealed the deal. When I came back in the next day to pick her up, a guy I saw 3 days before who was also looking at my car came back...at first I thought he was a sales person, but turned out to be a customer that was coming back to take a second look at my car. He just said "oh, you bought it...I guess I'll go for the automatic then", Sherwood got their second 40th on March 18, this one an automatic. I wonder if he ended up buying it...

So, how do you like your Z? I just finished the break-in. The wife drove the last 400 km of it, as she took it to Red Deer and back yesterday. So, do you have any plans of modding yours? ...oh, never mind...just read your signature.

Very nice - now you are making me want to track mine. :)

djpathfinder 07-20-2010 01:57 PM

It's a lot of fun! The thought of doing it was cool but scary at first, but if you do it though an organization that's well run and focuses on safety, it'll be fine. I mean, we own one of the most capable sports cars out there, so we might as well try to tap into some of its potential, right?

How do you feel your car stacked up on that day? From the video it looks like you had the fastest car on the track. Also, who installed your oil cooler?

djpathfinder 07-21-2010 08:21 AM

I think I did well considering that was my second time out. I could probably be placed one group higher next time. Lots of room for improvement though. As for the oil cooler, I installed it myself. I wrote a quick DIY because I installed it on the driver side and left the power steering cooler in the stock location. It wasn't hard to do. Here's the thread:

NICE WRITE-UP!!! Thanks for that - now I'm really thinking about adding that and tracking my car - to be honest, I could probably afford to have that oil cooler in place year round here in Florida. +1 rep to you sir!

Much appreciated!

I just installed some Tein MonoFlex coilovers. Did an approximately 3/4" front and 1/2" rear drop. Left the damper settings as suggested per the instructions from Tein. Here's what the new stance looks like:

Will get it corner balanced next week.
