Thoughts on blanking out the plate?

I noticed that when some people post pics they blurr out the license plate. So I am really asking, is there a need to do that? I figure someone on

I noticed that when some people post pics they blurr out the license plate. So I am really asking, is there a need to do that? I figure someone on the street can see your plate, and they are a lot closer to me than any of you guys. What are the thoughts on hiding the plate numbers?
