My Unorthodox Racing crank pulley came in yesterday!

Also my Berk Technology cat-back should be coming in tonight sometime. I am going to try and get a baseline dyno done on Monday if the shop I go to can squeeze me in. If thats the case, I will do the baseline and install the exhaust Monday, re-dyno Tuesday w/exhaust.

I will also try and get the crank pulley on the car next week as well and re-dyno again with that!

Cool! Can't wait to see the numbers on the Berk CBE.

Berk prototype cat-back #2 is in my possession! I have both an X-Pipe and H-Pipe setup to test on the dyno this coming week.

Also, the car took 2nd place in the Nissan class at yesterday's JTuned Auto Gallery car show held here in Vegas during Formula D Round #4! There were definitely more modified Nissans, but apparently having a new model gives you extra points!

Another funny deal. I suppose the Vegas heat was a little too much for Kenji Yaminaka's car. They called me on Friday looking for an oil cooler, but since I didn't have any in stock with me here, I took the Mishimoto cooler off of my 370Z. My oil cooler is famous! lol

Ok a new baseline dyno is set for 2:00pm today for the 370Z. Then tomorrow afternoon to re-dyno with the Berk Exhaust/H-Pipe setup. Hopefully I can get the X-Pipe setup dynoed tomorrow as well, but we'll see what the dyno shop's schedule is like.

Those who are also following the Berk exhaust thread know that my baseline dyno session didn't go so well today. The goal was to get a new baseline dyno since the last time I dynoed the car was back in February after the Berk HFCs. Back then the weather was probably in the low 50s here in Vegas, I had different wheels & tires, and I had the stock intakes. I wanted to get a fresh baseline before dynoing the Berk Cat-Back and UR crank pulley since now the weather in Vegas is 110+, my current 19" Forgestars are heavier, and I have the JWT intakes.

Well for those who remember way back when I tried to get my first baseline when the car was 100% the first go was not good. The torque curve had massive spikes and it looked to be either detonation or a problem with the dyno. I got a new tank of gas from a different gas station and went back the next day to the same place and got a good read with a much better looking torque curve.

Unfortunately it looks like history is repeating itself. I went today to get my up to date baseline and it was the same old story with torque curve spikes that don't make sense. This time the air fuel ratio was also a little leaner than I would have liked, possibly due to the intakes. I put the stock intakes back on for just in case that was the cause of the leaner A/F ratio. I will do what I did last time again and get gas from the Chevron down the street instead of where I normally go and see if it fixes it again. I will re-try my baseline tomorrow at 2:00pm again.

Here is the sheet from today for those who are curious.

Since the whole point is to see how much gains the Berk cat-back and UR pulley make a good solid baseline is key. That is not what I call a good solid baseline. Also notice that the numbers are ~15whp lower than what they were back in February. Although some of that probably has to do with whatever issue the dyno or the car has, I also attribute a lot of that to the Vegas heat. I miss winter.

Mike, on behalf of the non-poseur portion of this community, I would like to sincerely thank you for not taking shortcuts just so that some pussy who doesn't care about numbers can get a sound clip a day early (per the Berk exhaust thread). This probably isn't the place for this remark, but I have to say that over the past couple of weeks, I've actually a started to feel a tinge of embarrassment at being a 370Z owner. There are just way too many people on this forum who don't care about numbers and only care about how an exhaust sounds and whether or not it has slanted tips. I think of this attitude as the automotive equivalent of standing in front of a mirror and obsessing over whether or your jeans make you look fat. I, for one, do not want to be associated with these jerkoffs.

Not everyone mods there car for increased performance. Some people think the car suits their performance needs just fine from the factory but may want a sportier sound or different look. Everyone has different agendas. The great thing about a site like this is there are a multitude of people modding in different ways and each person can choose to follow the build thread that suits their interests

Well, this thread is about the DDM Project 370Z, which is a streetable track car Mike is working on, and testing components for mostly performance value (although certainly we all value aesthetics, just not as a primary motivator). So this thread is about function more than form. The VIP-Status photo shoot thread is over that way ---->

I agree, actually. It's probably not entirely fair for me to paint everyone who doesn't make the numbers their top priority with such a broad brush. I guess what prompted my little 'outburst' is that over in the Berk thread, some folks are actually giving Mike a hard time for delaying releasing a sound clip because he had issues with getting a clean baseline. In other words, they're saying 'Skip getting clean numbers because I only care about sound'. And what that effectively amounts to is saying 'Screw the guys who care about numbers. Put my priorities first ahead of everyone elses'. Mike isn't trying to satisfy one camp over the other. His approach will meet the needs of both camps. So I'm just giving him props for standing firm and not caving to one side. Let me put it this way, if someone released a new exhaust and only posted dyno numbers and refused to release a sound clip on the grounds that numbers are the only thing that counts, I would find that equally lame. Both aspects are important, and I don't want to see one aspect prioritized to the exclusion of the other.
