IG @gbrettin:
One exhaust manifold repaired and the other was shaved to the correct angle. Fuel rail brackets fixed, bent them more and tightened down. Dual plenum fastened back down. Turbo mount bar bent (after I mounted the bender to the work bench). ------------------------------ Some stuff not mentioned on IG: The dual plenum has 4 bolts in it right now. Threads were chased prior to putting the plenum on and the bolts went in nice. Also, putting the plenum on is definitely a two person job and my buddy said he can understand why I stripped it out wrestling that floppy donkey d1ck around. The wood in the plenum is to stop the plenum half flopping over while I try getting the fuel rail hardware bent and fastened down. The plenum itself is two separate halves which makes it very annoying. Don't get me wrong, I love it when it's bolted down... I'd prefer to have something like the Carbon XR... but that's 5g and for an LS7 head. Also, while wrestling the fuel rails on and off 50x times I managed to slice a few of the O rings on the injectors. On the final assembly of the fuel rail I put fresh o-rings on. Down the road I am going to put a fire suppression system into the car. 2,500 is a lot until your on the side of a track/road watching your car burn down... Not to mention the insurance company would be likely to fight you. Bare minimum, I will have a large fire extinguisher available until the suppression system is installed. |

From IG @gbrettin:
Turbo mount plates cut, drilled, cut and flapper sanded. Lined up the holes using a couple dots of transmission goop and a ruler. Bent bar can be welded to the plates and then to the Maven mounts. Turbo/crash bar attached to Maven mounts. Street Carr Fabrication flange attached. Dave Diehl, @autodynamix , did some boss welding. Air to water intercoolers will be mounted on the ... Turbo/crash bar... So I guess it's a Turbo/crash/intercooler/misc bar. Things are moving! ------------------------------- <might come back and write some more about what we did> |

Everyone is trying to get me to plan some spring/early summer meetup. I was thinking maybe having a meetup at my house and cruise our way down that way. Maybe get some guys to spend some cash on a dyno run or two at the shop. Brainstorm a bit and let me know if you have any ideas. I know the yahoos read this thread too, so maybe theyll chime in.

Sounds like a good idea to me! There's another performance shop down the road, Strictly Performance. Maybe I can talk to them as well. Need to wait until the Covid-19 stuff clears up though.

If I get a head count for people interested in using the dyno, I'm sure I can get you guys on for a few pulls at a cheap rate.
Might have to shoot for mid May..... playing it by ear due to Covid. Not having Zdayz really cleared my schedule. -- EDIT If you want to have remote tuning done by someone, that's a possibility too. Options, all the options. What ever is clever guys. Last edited by gbrettin; 04-06-2020 at 02:25 PM. |

What? You're not a pro welder by now?

I know, shocker right?!? Don't worry I welded some tabs last night. They are functionally sound, but man... everyone is a pro welder apparently telling me how shitty they look.
Speaking of that, I mounted my Intercoolers last night. The piping will be the easiest I've ever seen for a cold side. The tabs I welded will be gone over to make them look nice (even though no one will see them). I had a sense of pride after I took a raw chunk of metal and made it functional. I ended up cutting some slots in the tab so I can move around the intercooler for a little adjustment. I'm going to add two top support straps that will pull the A2W IC away from the radiator. A couple people brought up concerns about airflow on the radiator. I'm not terrible worried about that. I can add a spal brushless fan and get a nice Ron Davis radiator later. I'm curious as to what stock will do for now. I'll just make a mental note to watch the temps. Worst case scenario is relocating the radiator to the rear of the car. I'd rather not do that because of additional work at this point and the added cost of AN fittings can easily be 1000 dollars extra. The first picture shows my harness wiring came in from MS3. I also ordered 8 EGT bungs for my exhaust manifold . Unfortunately the first order got lost in transit so MS3 had to make a claim against the shipping company, which had a bunch of other orders heading to the shop. Someone had a bad day because it was about 8 thousand dollars worth of electronics and wiring. Back to the EGT bungs, my order had the last set of 8 and I'm waiting for another batch. who knows when I will get them. Main take away. Two tabs had many steps. I was at the shop for hours last night. Last edited by gbrettin; 04-07-2020 at 02:31 PM. |

But I'm not a pro

Wow those tabs look awful, did you have a seizure while welding them??
Kidding, nice job on everything! Great build!

One last thing. The drilled whole is not perfectly center where I punched the metal. I was trying to get video of the drill press and it walked the metal plates a tad.... DOH! I guess I'll focus on before and after shots if I'm using machinery. lol

Might as well scrap the build!
