Engine is in, not with out additional issues. The pan hit the steering rack, so my Moroso pan is out and a custom baffled pan is in. The mad scientist, @independenteng (IG Account), is going to put that together. So yeah, I'm kinda bummed... But this stuff happens when you're not dealing with the run of the mill Mustang swap.
A lot of you already follow me on IG (@gbrettin - by a lot I mean 2 or 3 people) but I tend to post all the pictures here, better or for worse photos. I think it's just as important to show the fails. The oil pan was specifically hitting the steering rack. In the middle of the rack there is an orifice which specifically caused a hang up. The pan must be extremely narrow to clear that. After seeing the engine in the bay, I do have a sense of accomplishment and it's nice to have that flag planted. It's a mental check point I needed to have. I've been d1cking with that engine since August 2018. Next steps in the process is to mate the transmission to the engine and build a transmission brace which is likely going to be all aluminum stock. After that, I *think* twin turbo fab is starting which is were things will get real interesting. Due to anticipated space constraints from the turbo system the radiator will be re-located to the rear of the car. 417 Motorsports Water Manifold was ordered through LJMS (Lil John Motorsports) as well as a Davies Craig remote water pump. Then I can start thinking accessory drive. And then... no and then. I'm cut off from thinking and then. - Edit - My wife was unimpressed when I told her I needed to cut my hood. I'm also not sure she understands how violent the car is going to be either... nor do I wish to explain it. Last edited by gbrettin; 01-05-2020 at 07:11 AM. |

Deeper and deeper. ... ...
Looks like I want to be a snob with my wiring and go for a dual bulk head connector and also get a turbo mount to make life easy. |

Installed the Motion Raceworks steam vent kit and 417 Motorsports billet water manifold. Both items are top notch quality; however, the 417 manifold is an absolute gem. The timing cover will need to come off for dual oil drains for the turbos and will be painted black at that time. I'll also take the ICT valley pan off to give that a high polish. At the end of the process, when the engine comes out to paint the engine bay, I'll clean the block and paint it with aluminum paint. All-in-all, it will look minty fresh when it's done... or at least I will be happy with it!
The steam vent kit will be tied into the water manifold with a 4AN line. Also, I will get a pressure sensor so I can see if I lift a head. Some more pictures for you animals: |

Not really. I just asked if you had sticky fingers. I don't want to know the details of your sex life. Of course Spoiler does. Hell, the video might be already on NatGeo.

May I have your attention please? May I have your attention please? Will the real GBrettin please stand up? I repeat. Will the real GBrettin please stand up? We're gonna have a problem in here... I have acquired my new turbo headers for the right price, Free ninety nine. I'll get out to the shop tomorrow and clean them up. The flanges will be cut off and Vbands welded on. Mounting points will be ground down smooth. After that, I will have them ceramic coated and all will be good. The Clearview Filter came in... and it was a good choice. Not sure where I'm mounting it... but that's down the road anyway. Spoke to Maven Performance about the bulkhead connector, turbo mounts and T4 flanges. That's in motion. Let's just say Maven Performance threw in a free T-shirt... |
