This is the only build I'm subbed to. This does something to my nether regions...

Went out to the shop to gap rings. I was able to get 15 rings done but ended up breaking the last ring. The last ring was used to square up the rings for measurements while it was on the piston. When the time came to take off the ring, I man handled it and broke the ring. Apparently rings are very brittle... noted...

All the rings are gapped to .23.

Guess I'll need to order a new ring Monday. CP probably only sells them in packs of 8. Oh well. Live and learn.

Don't feel bad. I've broken a few rings myself. Used to have to file the ends down with a small file. Had to be careful of not flaking the coating off the rings.

Ok, back from Zdayz and now I can concentrate on my build again.

Prior to going to Zdayz (March) I had ordered LOJ motor mounts because Sikky d1cked me around on their billet motor mounts. LOJ shipped the mounts directly to Bryan Settle, who has a LS swapped 350z, so he can make a few adjustments due to the projected power levels. Bryan pressed out the urethane bushings, pressed in billet cylinders and swapped the M8 bolts for M10.

We think the few tweaks will go a long way.

Coming up this weekend, I'm going to attempt on getting the short block together. The broken ring should be in this week.

Last ring filed and all rings were put on the pistons. I used piston ring pliers this time so I didn't break another one.

Crank has been added to block and torqued down.

Got out to the shop and stretched the rod bolts and half of the pistons in. Let me tell you, CP made some REALLY strong retainer clips. We had to look up a video to see what others were doing.

Thanks man. I know I'm slow at all this but engine building isn't my profession. I'm literally learning everything as I go from professional builders.

No worries from me. I'm worried about throwing the new rear diff together, an engine build is out of my league.

True, but my buddy is telling me everything he knows (pro builder) and is working with me the whole time (because I ask questions every two seconds).

Back out to the shop and hung the last four rods and pistons. Also, Auto Dynamix of Kalamazoo now has a Dynojet Dyno. If you are in the West MI area and want dyno time, HMU.

Well, I put the cam in and was going to push further today but.... I seemed to have lost my cam retaining plate.

Only takes one thing to stop everything. heh, what ever. I've come to the conclusion that I can't push this thing fast. I ordered a couple other to keep things rolling... until it doesn't
