Oh sweet baby Jesus, I'm finally done with the accessories... except for the tensioner. I'll address that when the engine gets yanked back out.
Let me have this win! The engine is locked in place, body panels are loosely on and the green light for turbo fabrication has now been granted. While the turbo is getting fabricated I will need to finish the transmission mount and order the drive shaft. I wonder what the next hurdle will be that grinds everything to a halt? I think I hit almost every landmine there was for the accessory drive. |

Feel free to swing over to Kalamazoo too! Welcome to check the car out in person. The shop just put in a new hoist for the dyno and redid the whole room. Maybe we can pop your car on the dyno so we can have a VQ boosted Z on the power board? We're making a power board and will have the top 20 cars posted. Also going to do a cars and coffee at the shop in the late spring. |

Didn't know you were in Kzoo. Is the County Palace still open over in Gale?

Used to go there after work to get a bite to eat, and be entertained.

From IG:
Finally, my alternator came in! I will definitely say the wait is worth it. Another American product going into my Z. Holley Premium Alternator in, only 2 bolts. Eating an elephant one bite at a time. It's a little guy compared to the OE beast. Found a clearance issue on the passenger side exhaust manifold. Was gonna mock the some turbo plumbing but I need to tap in some skill on that. Moved back to the accessories and figured out a tensioning. ----------- I need to find a counter sunk M10 bolt to go into the alt bracket. I think I can find something off of Amazon, I'll grab a few different lengths. That will really complete the accessories. It's surprising how big of a b1tch the accessories have been. There's a clearance issue with the RIFE combo sensor (top left of the water manifold). Motion Raceworks is going to get another order from me. They have a bracket for a fuel pressure regulator that comes with two button bolts. The bracket will be square in the middle of the valley pan just above the steam vent and will allow for left and right AN feeds from my fuel rails. The return line will be nice and clean too. Motion Raceworks LS Timing Cover Fuel Regulator Bracket (Aeromotive Small EFI Regulator) Crank case pressure will be an issue so I have to have breathers hooked into a catch can. Holly didn't have an option with a bung when I ordered my valve covers so I need to put some in. Again, Motion Raceworks has a solution I like... Billet valve covers in black can be mounted near the back of the valve covers so I can run minimal hose and look killer. Tad on the pricey side but they nice baffles and I can use AN fittings for different size hoses. I'll probably run -10. Motion Raceworks Billet Valve Cover Breathers Black Anodized (Pair) 32-120BK. I'll try to get videos of the turbo plumbing going together, short clips. My buddy Dave and Nick think that the turbo plumbing is going to be cake. Last edited by gbrettin; 02-16-2020 at 01:58 PM. |

From IG @gbrettin (yes I'm too lazy to retype):
Modified the @motionraceworks fuel pressure bracket to work a little smoother with my setup. The bracket would normally stand up out in front of the @417motorsports water manifold. The bracket got some death wheel and new holes so the FPR can lay down and send the return fuel back toward the engine. The fuel pressure side will line up pretty well. The RIFE sensor changed to the FPR so that I can monitor fuel temp and pressure. I'm going to monitor coolant pressure on the water manifold and I'll monitor coolant temps from the head. ------------------------ First picture shows Motion Raceworks Billet Valve Cover Breathers and Billet Catch Can. I will need to remove positive crank case pressure due to the turbos. Last edited by gbrettin; 02-21-2020 at 10:12 PM. |

IG post @gbrettin:
What's in the box?!?!? Sold my carbon fiber hood to make way for a work of art! @cjmotorsportsinc hooked me up with a twin Hellcat fuel pump. I'm also for hire modeling hats! Let the unshaven face and milky white skin wash over your eyes... TAKE IT ALL IN. Cakes and pies. Turbo plumbing coming soon. Soonish... Procrastinators unit tomorrow! Motion Raceworks billet valve cover breather installation. Used the template, hogged out a hole with a drill press, ground out the inside and drilled a few holes. Don't mess up... don't mess up... Don't mess up... Whew, didn't mess up. The breathers are really stealthy and look great when you spot them. Last edited by gbrettin; 02-23-2020 at 10:31 AM. |
