How was the fitment on the hood? Hopefully not too much adjustment.
|

I may just get them to throw clearcoats on it and wait until I get it wrapped to get the color. Hopefully its simple bolt tightening to adjustment fitment. |
Hood finally got put on the car a few days ago!
The fitment was almost a 10/10. The only issue is the washer fluid hardware. Ill need to do a little editing to those and epoxy them into the openings. The hood comes with all the necessary holes for installing everything you need though. Last thing youll see from me is an update with the car wrapped in March/ April. https://i.imgur.com/xPrhhmp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lBJBHCg.jpg |
The hood looks great. Love it.

A few updates on the car. 3/12/21
1. About 5 weeks ago, I was getting on the interstate and one of the bolts holding the front splitter, pulled right through the bottom of the bumper. It ended up leaving the splitter unsecure in the middle. During that time, it caused the front of the bumpers paint to spider crack, due to all the flexing. So first pic is of that working getting fixed. They are currently working on a few metal bars that will be inside the bumper, reinforcing the bolts. The initial issue wasn't their fault, the bumper just wasnt thick enough and Ive also never used splitters on my cars. Lesson learned on that front. https://i.imgur.com/KL49mwO.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YZA88rj.jpg 2. To better help with fitment of the side skirts, in the door jam area, they used some epoxy originally. I told them that Id need to be able to take my side skirts off to do my own work on the car, especially being as low as Iam. So they went in, removed the epoxy and I asked them to fit a bolt where the kit doesnt actually sit up against the car, like it should. Even my 350z and g35 had the same issue in the side skirt area. Nothing to reinforce that spot on the skirt. Anyways, there will be more flush bolts replacing the current ones. Now the skirts are removable...which is now, how it should be. I do get what they were trying to achieve but sacrifice of skirt removal was a bit ridiculous. Also showing fitment right behind the doors, where the side skirts line up. https://i.imgur.com/rGcKlWC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/R5BaJoX.jpg 3. Replaced the standard bolts, on the side skirts, with more flush style bolts. Ill also be adding sliplo attachments on the front and side splitters https://i.imgur.com/XHFMoH6.jpg 4. And last, the driver side rear bumper, right where it meets up with the fender, there was a slight body work screw up. The body line wasnt rounded the way it should have been, there was a slightly "bend". So they went in and fixed that. The black on black made it really hard to see and if I didnt plan on wrapping the car, I would have told them to leave it. I know it will bug the hell out of me if there was a light color on the car and it stuck out EVEN MORE.. https://i.imgur.com/LiMGNXi.jpg |
I also scheduled the drop for my wrap, on April 3rd. I did a photoshop of how it will potentially look. Much less "chrome" like though.
https://i.imgur.com/rwqePBI.jpg Heres what the color actually looks like here are actual pics of the color. Its 3M Gloss Black Rose https://i.imgur.com/XKCJP3X.jpg |
car gets dropped on on April 23rd. I decided to get a some 12" square samples of the two colors from 3M and Avery. I feel like its a no brainer here.

Well, someone over torqued one of my Work lugs and 100% melded it to the stud. Im down to 19 lugs and I have no back up.
These Kics were so hard to find, I had to resort to Ebay. Its awesome that they are 2 piece. The part youll see will never be touched by an impact. Im going to get them painted the stock black color https://i.imgur.com/I7DrKVY.jpg |
Nice back up plan

So unfortunate news. 3M is months behind in production of certain vinyls. The black rose I wanted is one of them. So instead of getting the car back Im getting another color put on the car, until the end of the year or so. I went with something super crazy, just for fun. I figured I would try to turn more heads :D
I also went ahead and grabbed some neo chrome Project Kics to pull the color scheme down into the wheels a bit! Its definitely a flashier color than Id ever put on the car, if it was going to be permanent. I figured it would be fun to drive around with it for a while https://i.imgur.com/s2hxYVy.jpg |
Had the car for two days and just wanted to share some pics and my thoughts. A friend of mine thats a photographer on the "side" took me up on my offer to grab a few shots over an hour or so.
I rented it for my wedding day, so me and the wife could get some pics and have a little fun in it. Shes not a big "car person" so obviously it was a bit more for me than her. I was just looking forward to her reaction since she thought we'd be driving around in her Nissan Rogue. Anyways, the car came with a full set up from Capristo and a tune. The word that best describes the sounds the car made is well, intoxicating. I kept the valves open on it the entire time. Hearing the turbos spoil and the exhaust popping and cracking, oh man! Ive never had a chance to just drive a car with this type of power however I wanted. That being said, I didnt go over 80mph and I only floored it once to feel that supposed 0-60 in 2.7 seconds, on an empty road. Since the car was under my insurance for the two days, I drove it like I owned it...not like I stole it. Besides, the sounds the car made was truly where it was at. I've never gotten so much attention in my life either. To the point it was unsafe. People recording the car, while they were driving behind or next to me. Lots of kids coming up to talk to me. It makes sense though. Ive lived in Chattanooga for 11 years now and I can say with 100% certainty, Ive NEVER seen a Ferrari in town. Even though theres a lot of "old money" in this town, thats the one car Ive never seen. Im sure someone owns one, they just rarely drive it. I honestly only have a neutral reaction about the interior. the interface was more irritating than driver friendly for me. Buttons randomly set in places you'd never expect. One example is the lock and unlock button being in the place where you'd turn on the overhead light in our cars. Other little things like that. Being a supercar, I fully felt that it was meant to be on the track, even though the seats were hard yet super comfy. I cruised around town and never got uncomfortable throughout the entire day. Anywho, I could go on but here are some of the pics he took of it. https://i.imgur.com/J3ibYTA.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xKQ9zan.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WBTWE9b.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lvqr69b.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JCf7ptC.jpg |
already getting bored of not doing something to the car. Aside from the 2x10" system I bought the car with and the white LED light swap, this is my first REAL modification to the interior.

Still have to do the day shots, which will probably be about 12-15 more pics.
I was just the guy that moved the lights around but we spend about 2 hours downtown to get these four pics. https://i.imgur.com/spVwkT7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KqzBcTn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XOGAgzb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qWShHcZ.jpg |

The color isn't nearly "in your face" as I originally thought it was. Still stands out but its not like Highlighter bright. |
Got done with 2 of 3 parts to the photoshoot. This is how brilliant the wrap can get under natural lighting. No flash, strobes, light painting, or post was done, to enhance these shots. The sun was our lighting source 100%.
Its tough to do it all at once since it relies on the sun being somewhat down, giving us about 45-60 minutes to get the brilliant colors and full effects of the vinyl. Still have a couple rolling shots and static pics to take https://i.imgur.com/0yj1y6z.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VjtyxDz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8RGiFUD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NUKZAi0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gfaMpCD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/esRhBlK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rCF09ay.jpg |

this pic was from today. Getting some CLOSE shots and a couple in front of this mosaic.
Took a quick pic of me waiting for the strobe to go off https://i.imgur.com/IiiC2po.jpg |
well, at this point, I might be all done with the car. Spending $8-10k on interior and the same amount for FI, Im not sure Im willing to do that. Even dropping $3500-3700 for nismo seats is something I cant seem to pull the trigger on.
Time to start considering my next ride, in early 2022. |
I know this is irrelevant to a Z build but its part of my "car journey" so I wanted to share it with you guys. Over 12.5 years on this forum I feel like "what the hell" I might as well.
rented this for a week, last month. It took me forever to find a car rental place that had an R8. They just arent flashy enough when someone wants to rent an exotic, super, or luxury car. Im not a fan of the soft top but its the only one I could get. I've been highly considering buying one and I figured I could either throw away thousands on renting it for a week, to find out if I really like it and could see myself modifying it..OR...if I took one home and realized a month later, it wasn't for me. In the end, Im about 95% certain Ill be getting one. I've already priced out wheels, springs, exhaust set up, and tune. Along with 1016 CF bits but those will come much slower. The sale of the Z will feed the mod list most likely. https://i.imgur.com/fTBxrhI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/L8ulnCC.jpg |
If I didn't build my Z to the moon... I would be getting an R8 too. they are awesome.

Finally uploaded all the photoshoot pics onto flickr. I dont really take enough pics of the car to make an IG for the car specifically so Flickr it is!
I didnt realize I had as many pics as I did, though. https://www.flickr.com/photos/312660...h/51692401902/ |

Step two of the garage is done! Next is the epoxy floor. Went with the standard cabinet set up, wall panel to hang things, and overhead storage. I still need to spray the exposed concret block black and add the black trim, covering Goodalls **** drywall job.

Did you consider swiss trax?
