I'm kind of shocked that the brackets needed to be made on the side skirts.

I went by the shop, fitted it and did the testing myself as well as watching them do it, to really see what the different was. It didnt NEED to be done, but at the end of the day, I just preferred it. The cost was very low on their end as well, that was a big factor of course.

If someone were to ask me about the kit and if it actually should be a step taken, I would say no, you dont really need to. The over all fitment on the sideskirts is a good 8-9/10

Zerafian 09-15-2020 10:17 AM

I also got a tune about 7 months ago, I completely forgot to share that. Cant find the before number pic but heres the result from Z1. I dont have much installed, just my Motordyne ART pipes, exhaust, and stillen intakes. I BELIEVE the first pull was around 290atw and ended up at 322/264atw

Rear Bumper has first prime done, for other slight fixes of areas that need smoothing. Stock license plate lighting hardware and brackets transferred over to the new bumper, side skirts are ready for paint, and rear spoiler mounted and fit.

Looks like the spoiler doesnt fully cover where the stock one was, so they may have to repaint. They are hoping the part that still shows will buff out.

Also, it definitely was required to pull the stock brackets for the license plate lighting and such. Seems to be the norm that the shine auto kit doesnt allow for easy transfer of the stock lighting hardware.

Modding by Proxy!

Zerafian 09-30-2020 02:48 PM

Last piece of the puzzle being smoothed out right now. The shop owner also came up with his own remedy for trimming off the bolt from where the front bumper meets the fender. Ill show better shots of that, when I get the car back.

What hasnt been shown in pics are the side and front splitters and the hood, which is still 3-5 weeks out from being delivered.

The front bumper has that attached to it. I told them they obviously dont need to paint that part. You can see the hole where the filter will be.

Zerafian 10-02-2020 12:22 PM

Last piece is getting final prime! And they started painting. Im crossing my fingers for the end of next week, Ill get it back.

Almost forgot to let them know to cut the bottom of the front bumper, that way the oil drain bolt can be reached. Everything else is shaping up. Should get the car back on friday or next monday/tuesday

given them $4k as of last week. I told them my budget so we'll see how close they get.

Two shop owners with over 50 years experience between them, its not cheap.

Far less than the laughable amount "Magnum Collision" in Marietta Ga. quoted me, $18-20k

It might come to around $8k. I got them to repaint quite a bit of the car and do some custom work, no required mind you, but I wanted it done.

Waiz 10-07-2020 01:43 PM

Will be a totally different car after you are done, excited for you!

If I can get it into my driveway safely :D

I knew the amuse front was going to make it about 1/2" lower but I forgot about the added length from the bumper as well as the splitter.

Ill have to, as they say "Send it" I suppose...at .5mph and at a nice HARD angle.

Ill be getting a proper photoshoot later in the month as well.

Zerafian 10-12-2020 04:29 PM

Picking it up wednesday. They are just finishing some buffing and polishing in a few areas.

I need to get some GOOD angles of this car.

Zerafian 10-14-2020 02:16 PM

Got it home and after 10-15 minutes of fooling around, I got it up the drive way. So it looks like straight into the driveway is the best bet.

Ordered the kit in April and after 6 months, its finally done...well, besides the hood.

thanks man...You're probably the only person thats seen me come full circle in the Z community, since 2007 or so. Ive got some really good photoshoot pics coming, Ill be dropping all over here, this weekend.

Yeah though, this is probably my lowest car Ive ever had. Literally make it over speed bumps by 1-2mm. I just let the bolts on the underside, drag. Theyll flatten eventually, I guess.

I wish there was a lot more down the road. Like a turbo set up or full interior redo. This may be where I stop, after I get the hood installed next month and a wrap put on a few months from now.

Thanks a lot for saying that.

Zerafian 11-02-2020 12:43 PM

*already posted in media section but wanted to update my build thread*

A friend of mine took a few hours and did a shoot with my car. Figured it would be nice to have one before the hood and wrap, as it is now, and then afterwards, early in 2021.

I love it, even your pics are on point! This thread delivers!

It's so cool to follow you now on your third build, I loved your Z33 but now this one is even more badass. I would totally be happy with what you have and not even wrap it, the black totally pops.

So many kind words, starting all the way back in 2008! Thanks Waiz, Ive always appreciated it.

Just think, I havent even touched the interior gone FI, not sure I will with this one either.

I cant help but fall in love with the deep burgundy/ wine color vinyl. The black kinda hides some of the lines I really want to see. I agree about the pics though, the guy that did them always delivers the goods!

I would stay N/A and just enjoy the car. I just think once you go FI you are always chasing reliability issues no matter how good a kit you get.

I think the black really makes the kit pop, I would just keep it since your paint is in such good condition

but to each there own creation :tiphat:

Zerafian 12-08-2020 09:59 PM

Hood got delivered to the shop today! Only 13 weeks of waiting, not too bad :D

Ill be getting them to paint it the stock black but leaving the fins, behind the vents, CF. Im not a fan of large sheets of CF. The weave isnt super appealing to me when it covers a large area. I like those HINTS of CF.

Anyways, this should be the last piece Ill put on the exterior, aside from potentially wrapping it next summer.
