this pic was from today. Getting some CLOSE shots and a couple in front of this mosaic. Took a quick pic of me waiting for the strobe to go off

well, at this point, I might be all done with the car. Spending $8-10k on interior and the same amount for FI, Im not sure Im willing to do that. Even dropping $3500-3700 for nismo seats is something I cant seem to pull the trigger on.
Time to start considering my next ride, in early 2022. |

I know this is irrelevant to a Z build but its part of my "car journey" so I wanted to share it with you guys. Over 12.5 years on this forum I feel like "what the hell" I might as well.
rented this for a week, last month. It took me forever to find a car rental place that had an R8. They just arent flashy enough when someone wants to rent an exotic, super, or luxury car. Im not a fan of the soft top but its the only one I could get. I've been highly considering buying one and I figured I could either throw away thousands on renting it for a week, to find out if I really like it and could see myself modifying it..OR...if I took one home and realized a month later, it wasn't for me. In the end, Im about 95% certain Ill be getting one. I've already priced out wheels, springs, exhaust set up, and tune. Along with 1016 CF bits but those will come much slower. The sale of the Z will feed the mod list most likely. Last edited by Zerafian; 10-28-2021 at 09:16 PM. |

yeeeahhh, trust me, it was tough to not go all out. I was really considering a used audi S5, like 2019-2020, so that I had a nice second car. Then send the Z off to Z1 for a TT and then do a full reupholster on the interior. Knowing I was looking at an east $25-30k for all of that made me realize that I wanted something different. I wasn't getting the same feeling from the car, that I once was. A little sad but it will be interesting moving to a gen 2 R8 next year.

Finally uploaded all the photoshoot pics onto flickr. I dont really take enough pics of the car to make an IG for the car specifically so Flickr it is!
I didnt realize I had as many pics as I did, though. https://www.flickr.com/photos/312660...h/51692401902/ |

Step two of the garage is done! Next is the epoxy floor. Went with the standard cabinet set up, wall panel to hang things, and overhead storage. I still need to spray the exposed concret block black and add the black trim, covering Goodalls **** drywall job.

yeah, kinda went through all my options but Im stuck on the showroom floor look. I would take that option over the flake flooring, Im just not a fan of that.
this is what Im looking at getting. |

Im out in BFE TN Thats the only way I can do it. Things are a bit cheaper out here. Though finding someone close is like pulling teeth. I gotta make calls to ATL!

Cleaned up the car a few days ago, after about 2-3 months of neglect. A few houses are still being built in my neighborhood so a lot of dirt and nasty clay gets thrown around. Its really bad when it rains too. The new TN license plates kinda prompted me to do this. I havent done anything to this car in quite a while and the change from grey/green plate to blue/white was so nice. Seems stupid but yeah, at least its clean now.

well, my R8 deal fell through. Spent a few months shopping around, most dealers wouldn't negotiate and I decided to just call it quits on that car. The more I kept looking, the more picky I got and the most the cars cost was going up and up. In the end, I was sitting here looking at 2018 with 7-10k miles costing me $190k after taxes and other fees.
In the end, I went with what I was originally looking to get into, when they first released in 2018, a Lexus LC500. After the R8 deal fell through, I felt like it was a sign. Aside from the monthly payment being 1/3rd of what they were going to be, it felt like the smarter move. Ive had it for 2 weeks now and slapped an army trix exhaust on it already. Looking forward to doing as much as a I can. Though the community for this car is a bit different than the Z community and the "mod-ability" is far far less. |
