My 2010 Sport

Finally decided to make a thread after a few months

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7-img-3634.jpg
The day I picked it up from the docks.

Unfortunately not long after the fuel pump died so...

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7912996801.jpg

Deatschwerks DW200, a pump install kit and fuel pressure gauge kit from CJM went in

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7912996792.jpg
A few weeks pass and it starts having intermittent starting issues and the fuel level gauge ends up at different levels while driving. I toned the harness out and the stock wiring was fine but there was a short in the factory fuel top hat. So CJM to the rescue again with their billet top hat and milspec bulkhead connector.

With the reliability stuff out of the way I moved onto the stereo. The headunit I chose was the Sony MEX-XB100BT, a friend was clearing out some stuff and gave me an older Rockford 25 to life 5 channel amp to power the CT Sounds Meso 6.5" components and a Rockford Prime 10" sub in a slot ported enclosure.

Magnet comparison

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7912996796.jpg
I cut the stock speaker out of the frame and used that to mount the new speakers.

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7912996799.jpg
I am still waiting on these to come back from the body shop. I don't have the patience for sanding body filler to shape.

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7912996795.jpg
Amp mounted on some stainless stilts, the sub and enclosure are below the new trunk floor. I made everything from 5/8" MDF. Waiting for a speaker grill to come in to finish it off.

It definitely won't rattle anyone's windows but it's clean even when played loud.

Next up....Suspension!

Ordered up the following from THMotorsports
Fortune Auto 500 series coilovers with 12k/10k springs
Voodoo 13 rear traction rods
Voodoo 13 rear subframe solid bushings
Whiteline diff bushings
SPL eccentric lock out kit

And Z1 Motorsports
Street front upper control arms (no race arms in stock at the time)
Race rear camber arm

Onto the pics

Worst 3 hours of my life

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7538557941.jpg
All bushings changed, subframe and diff repainted with VHT chassis epoxy paint. I painted all the rest of the under braces too.

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7048796080.jpg
Z1 & Voodoo rear arms installed

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7912996788.jpg
Sexy new coilovers from Fortune

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7048796082.jpg
Rear springs in. Was setting ride height without the shock in first

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7048796081.jpg
Fortune front coils & Z1 upper arms

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...8266764229.jpg
As it sits as of Thursday. I need to raise the rear up about a half inch. When i set the rear right height I didn't take into account putting preload on the springs.

Since the Z1 arms are a chore to adjust, I am trying to get them as close to -2* as possible to cut down on labor when it gets aligned. I have the passenger at 2* according to my Iphone being pressed against the brake rotor, the drivers side still needs work as that's at -3.7*.

I did a few cosmetic things while I was waiting on a few parts to arrive.

Rear duck bill (My friends LS1 FD in the back ground)

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...-00-49-pm.jpeg
Mocking up the front lip. Thinking to black out the bumper mouth and paint the outer parts of the lip white like what people do with the 3 piece Evo-R lip. Also you can kinda make out the blacked out the headlight housings and paint matched shrouds.

That's pretty up to date. I'll be finishing the adjustments today after work and taking the car to get aligned on monday.

I loved that lip. Goes well with the skirts and spats that came with it. I recommend 3M VHB (white/silver). You will need to explore where there are gaps and double up on the VHB (2 layers or even more in some parts) because the back side is uneven. I also recommend skid plates for the edges (those in front of the tires) for longer life. Use an aluminum sheet if you can find one. Steel sheets will rust unless you don't mind. All this from past experience/learnings.

Keep it going, your on your way!!

sirnixalot 10-02-2017 07:46 AM

Thanks everyone.

Setting the front ride height was kicking my *** saturday night. I had some 2x6 under the front tires so i was able to get the jack under the car. Got the measurements between the wheel center and the fender perfect, rolled car off the 2x6 and it's 1/2" higher in the front than it should be.

I'll finish up thursday and drop it for alignment then.

Got a great deal on a single rear wheel from MacCool, once I get my hands on another it will be tire's and sway's time.

Patrick@AAMComp 10-03-2017 03:34 PM

Looking good :tiphat:

Ebay :icon17:

Had the car in the body shop to fix some rust spots and to paint/install the front lip while I was in Vegas at Sema.

Nice. Very similar to when I started with my first kit. Not sure what you plan on doing for next but I recommend getting the side skirts that go with it instead of the side blades many people go with. And push out the wheels with spacers. Congrats.

I am pretty happy with it aesthetics wise for the time being. I have 20mm spacers all around at the moment.

Once I find another deal on a sport rear wheel I'll be able to go 19x10 all around with 285's.

Next round of mods is going to be a Cusco RS 1.5 way diff, the above wheel/tire setup and some Hotchkis or Whiteline sway bars.

Go with the Hotchkis! Lot of documented issues with Whiteline.

Really? I've used them in the past with success. I'll take a trip down the google rabbit hole and see what I find

axmea? 11-08-2017 06:53 PM

I agree with hotrodz. One I recall was more like a factory defect that should have been caught before landing on the consumer. Whiteline took care of it though and covered it.

Thanks

So I took the car to the track last weekend after swapping on some 315/30R19 Michelin Sport Cup 2's on the rear. Needless to say my clutch was not happy and has given up as of today.

Drove up there with 2 of my friends, the Black mustang has pretty much everything done to it and the Roush stage 2 supercharger, the FRS has the Edelbrock supercharger as well (he really needs to get the header & exhaust upgraded) The good news is I can beat a supercharged FRS

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...6699001821.jpg
This is the only strip we have and it was disused for a few years. Thankfully we have access to it again so we are trying to get it back to a usable state with timing equipment etc

http://www.zspeedperformance.com/ima...154821021.jpeg
Zspeed stage 3 kit was ordered today :happydance:

Should see it before january hopefully.

ZontheRocks 12-05-2017 09:12 AM

The PW looks good!

Patrick@AAMComp 12-05-2017 10:05 AM

you sir are slammed lol

sirnixalot 12-05-2017 01:27 PM

It's not THAT bad....i do need to raise it about a 1/4" though. Will do that when it's in the air for the clutch job.

sirnixalot 01-06-2018 08:44 AM

4 weeks later! Clutch kit is here along with an b&m shifter. The last wheel I was waiting on arrived as well so I am going to get the 4 of them painted so I can finally get go square.

What a job. Definitely couldn't have done it by myself like my Miata. Transmission is heavy as lead

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...3492983747.jpg

Initial impressions are positive, there is NO rattling noise at all from the flywheel & pedal effort is pretty much the same as stock. The B&M shifter is great, no buzzing or anything from that either.

Can't wait to go put some mileage on it later

sirnixalot 01-08-2018 07:52 AM

After a morning in traffic my observations are

1) there is some resonance/noise around 2k which I expected
2) it's a bit juddery to slip at the moment, can't wait till it's broken in
3) I need engine and transmission mounts due to #2

sirnixalot 01-09-2018 11:28 AM

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...-54-57-am.jpeg

The wheels didn't get painted so I decided to just mount up the old rear tires on the new to me 19x10's anyway.

Car is slowly getting to where I want it. Next up are some new tires, sways and Z1 engine/trans mounts.

sirnixalot 01-11-2018 09:32 AM

P0430 code came up. I really didn't want to have to get an exhaust or tune till all the turbo stuff is put together.

I might bide my time with some resonated test pipes and a reflash....

sirnixalot 01-22-2018 05:07 PM

After quite a few years hiatus and abandonment our 1/8 mile strip reopened. It's still in a little rough shape and there was no timing equipment so it was pretty much a call out type situation.

So I gutted the cats and got a tune from Seb @ specialty Z.

I didn't win a single race but the important thing is I looked good losing (and had loads of fun)

sirnixalot 02-17-2018 11:40 AM

It look's like gloss black unless the sun is out or you're up close. I love the look.

In other news my GTR turbo adapter kit will be here monday and I'm on the look out for some turbo's.

sirnixalot 02-19-2018 06:51 AM

A friend that bought an intercooler core for a project he no longer has decided to drop it off to me this weekend.

A nice Vibrant 25 x 11.8 x 3.5 core. Mocked it up and figured I'd give it a shot.

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...9416271937.jpg
Obviously not to scale but you get the idea

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...91-adapter.png
Also a potato pic of an adapter from Husam :happydance:

Turbos, oil & water lines, oil cooler, exhaust, fuel pump, injectors and a tune. Maybe I'll be boosted for 2018 after all

sirnixalot 05-18-2018 08:36 AM

Well a few small updates.

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...2133320678.jpg

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...ce8c4dd295.jpg
I made myself a dual 2.5" exhaust and used a Magnaflow muffler with an internal X pipe. It's MUCH quieter after break in compared to the muffler deletes and no more annoying 2500-3k super drone. I reused the stock exhaust tips so nothing special to see on the outside.

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...96d65e73dd.jpg
I'm also in the process of making a catch can/coolant reservoir. It still needs some tweaking and then i can get the fittings, filter and fill cap

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...t-ons-dyno.png
Virtual dyno in 3rd gear, extended K&N intakes, cat deletes and new 2.5" exhaust. The tune is un-touched from when Seb tuned it with the short ram K&N intakes, cat and muffler deletes.

I plan on replacing the 2.5" maf tubes with 2.75" pipe and getting a retune soon, to see if I can break 300whp 250wtq in this tropical climate.

New to me Nismo diff, set to 2 way in the pic. I'll be dropping the diff tonight and finishing up tomorrow.

sirnixalot 05-23-2018 11:50 PM

Finished up the diff. Best mod ever.

sirnixalot 05-24-2018 09:40 AM
