Hope that track can be saved! Otherwise it's what? AutoX in parking lots? |
Autox has died out, we finally ran out of places to do it. There is another drag racing association that got a gov lease on some land but they are too busy **** measuring to produce any results.

Out with the old! http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...8443408364.jpg In with the new CJ-M hotness! Walbro 450 and their return stuff installed. I have managed to send the clips for the spring rods to another dimension so I need to mod some small plastic bushings to fit before I can reassemble everything. Charles tossed in a U fitting and quick connect fitting for free when I told him I was adding a flex fuel sensor. Can't go wrong with both the quality of the parts and the customer satisfaction :nutswinger: I'm imitating this setup having the sensor on the return. http://www.the370z.com/3676652-post39.html |
Placed an order with AAM for their stage 1 short block! I didn't see the need for the Carillo's since I am not looking for any more loss of traction that the GTR turbo's can provide.
So while I wait for it to be built I've got my Z1 cart plum full and waiting to destroy whatever christmas bonus comes my way :rofl2: ARP 19 head studs Z1 valve stem seals Z1's OEM timing chain kit with all the add on's JWT C2 exhaust cam kit I sourced the full OEM gasket kit from Husam  |

Finished up the fuel pump assembly last night. Relocating the car so we can start pulling the motor out, only to put it back in to finish all the fab work. |
That is one sexy looking fuel pump assembly.
|
Got the cylinder heads from Elmo370z:tup: They are on their way to AAM for them to bolt onto the short block.
Can't wait to get this thing back on the road |
Figured I'd go overboard while waiting for everything to arrive.
http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...3777965229.jpg Tig welded a -4AN male fitting onto the actuators. 35 amps and someone pouring water on the actuator can the whole time. Pressure tested and all is well. |
Got some work done on boxing day. The front end is off and the harness is disconnected from the engine. I'm making an engine hoist adapter later so this weekend I can pull the motor out and get it on the stand.
Plan is to bolt up the turbo's and do what plumbing mock ups i need to on the stand, then put the broken motor back in and the front end back on to sort the intercooler piping and at least get the down pipes done. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...2155813909.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...2155813913.jpg Sexy CJ-Motorsport rails and the Bosch EV14's http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...3698994231.jpg Got the fuel regulator mounted up as well |

most overkill engine hoist bracket award goes to! We pulled a vq25 out of a skyline with a much lighter duty bracket using only the 2 intake manifold studs. Thinking i might add some side pieces to use 4 more bolts though. |
Saw concept Z was having 10% off aftermarket soooooooooo
JWT C2 exhaust cam kit ordered and shipping to AAM :happydance: |

http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...0427076600.jpg Got the engine out today and started the mock up for the plumbing. I ordered the oil lines way too short so I'll have to get the correct length. The block coolant drain plugs are bspt. I'll be welding some 6an bungs to those tomorrow and drilling a hole through them to supply the turbos with coolant. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...0427076601.jpg It's a snug fit in here to say the least, I'll be cutting a quarter inch off the intake adapter so I can start the bend farther back, welding is the only option i see here |

Welded up the coolant fittings, I still need to hit them with a wire wheel to take off the burnt zinc coating |

Fittings cleaned up http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...8030570529.jpg Used a counter sink bit to taper the inlet http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...3382837257.jpg Proof of concept. I will be using a 6AN Tee with a female on the adapter side so a 90* can go to the passenger turbo and a 45* or 60* can go down to the drivers side. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...3382837258.jpg A shot of the water feed and oil drain. The turbo feed line I ordered was about 8" too short. I'm ordering a 36" line since this is a 27". The upper coolant port uses a 180* fitting to point under the manifold and up the back of the block. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...3382837261.jpg Passenger side, what a tight fit. I had to cut off a piece of the compressor housing casting to clear the 90* fitting. A 120* might work better. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7844255720.jpg Here's a shot from underneath showing that line http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7844255721.jpg Actuator mounting mod after clocking the compressor housing clockwise Tomorrow I MIGHT see about pushing the motor back in the bay. If I can do that then its hot side and intake piping time:ughdance: |
http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7103523862.jpg
Got the broken engine with the turbos on back in along with the radiator support, intercooler and cold side piping. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...7657941059.jpg This bracket that the wiring harness clips to will need trimming to run the intake for the passenger side http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...0060839937.jpg I need to adjust the compressor housing clockwise a small amount but the hot side piping is pretty simple. There is no way in hell i can fit an intake to run the way i want to run it without converting to the newer low side ac line. I also need a lower profile fitting than that big *** -12AN off the coolant adapter plate. I have a 1/2" NPT to 3/4" hose barb in the summit cart http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...0060839935.jpg I'm gonna have to bend the newer low side ac line up a bit and fire sleeve it as well. I'm having a well deserved day off tomorrow with my son, thursday I'll be tack welding the hot side piping together and confirming fitment. I also need to get my VVEL ladders off to AAM next week as well so they can bolt everything down with the C2's |
