Very nice! Can you share your virtual dyno settings?

Obviously you'll have to alter the weight and tire diameter to suit your setup, and possibly add 5th gear? I have NO way of doing a 5th gear run on this island so I never added it. |
Well it was a fun day of racing on sunday. I am horrible at drag racing also it would seem. Trying to slip the clutch properly was proving difficult and I need to shift quite a bit faster, more seat time is definitely required.
The setup was as follows: 245/40R19 tires on stock 19x9 sport wheels 275/50R17 M&H drag radials on 17x9 R33 wheels Fortune Auto 500 coilovers 10k front and 12k rear rates with damping at full soft Hotchkis sway bars still connected all around OS giken GT street twin plate Running the ethanol tune so max effort from the motor For some reason I was getting wheel spin even at 11psi in the radials. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...6330299468.jpg Please don't judge the car on my poor performance as a driver :rofl2: The plan is to do the following for the next event: Raise the car up an inch and get it re-aligned Possibly swap out the springs to 8k front and 10k rear (down from 10/12) Disconnect the front sway bar M&H bias ply front runner tires to swap on to a pair of stock spare 18x4 wheels Hoosier 28x10r17 bias ply slicks to mount on the R33 wheels I am sure with those changes and practice I will get a decent 60ft and be in the 7's consistently and see if I can work my way lower. |
Since I raised the base fuel pressure the pump gas tune needed reviewing. I gotta say I've never had someone put so much effort into a tune for me yet. All of the fail safes are there should something go amiss, driveability is smooth and the power delivery controlled and non-violent for such a quick spooling setup.
http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...n18th-dyno.png Ill start getting the parts to fix the built motor next month probably. I need to decide what I am doing turbo wise because the stock ones wont be going back on. |
Well I think it's safe to say these were the original brake pads and I feel so ashamed that I never checked them out sooner.
http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...1645182127.jpg I got Powerstop track day pads since Rockauto saw fit to stop carrying the Centric/Stoptech performance pads. I am pretty impressed, they came with new sliding pins, clips and grease, although I reused the stock pins after wire wheeling them because they were shorter than the replacement pins and I didn't want to see them poking out of the caliper. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...6918084749.jpg That's one of the rear pads, I didn't get a pic of the front pads but they were at around 3mm left. I swapped in stoptech rear braided lines and bled the system with Motul 600. After bedding them in as per instruction I am pretty pleased so far, nice bite when cold and no noise. I noticed quite a bit of dust after the bedding procedure so will keep an eye on that but I can't expect them to not be at least a little dusty given their intended use. |
I LOVE flex fuel. So much easier than having to drain your tank or running out of gas.
That being said I will probably let it run out of gas the next time, 15 gallons of x98 and I ended up with 78% ethanol content. Gonna try and get it to the point where I'm only spending on a 5 gallon pail, maybe 2 to get the content above 70%. Husam has it set that the boost along with the timing goes up from 12psi to 14psi past a certain ethanol content. With the weather being unseasonably cool for down here (high 60s at night) the past few days I can't wait to see what that does for the ethanol tune 3rd gear virtual dyno pull I'm gonna do later. |
Hit the drag strip again today and with ALOT of help from my friends and keyboard magic from Husam I did some personal bests.
http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...5748251750.jpg Unfortunately there was no MPH in that lane (gardener weed wacked the cable), I was running in the 96mph range when I made other passes. Side note on that time slip I didn't get beat by a stock M4 with an E85 tune. http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...-40-23-pm.jpeg Tire setup changed to 17x9.5 Forgestar F14's with M&H 28x10 bias ply slicks in the back and OEM doughnuts in the front (I know I know) the proper tires will be here in 2 weeks. Again I can't thank Husam from BTWTuning enough for all the effort he has been putting into getting the most power we can safely out of the car. The car is an ANIMAL on ethanol. Next month I am looking forward to more seat time and with the proper front tires and 8k rear springs, getting a better 60ft. |

I'm hopeful we can increase that power on E85 and shoot for 6.9 next time :) It's been a pleasure tuning your car, you deserve to enjoy it for another 100 years for the bad luck you've dealt with last year. |
My race against that M4. That thing is scary fast for only having an e85 reflash |
You guys getting bounced around from earthquakes?

Since I made my own intercooler setup horizontal, most of the top of the core was blocked. I do plan on redoing it with a vertical setup but until then.
http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...-01-22-pm.jpeg I cut the bumper opening a bit. |
Well I have a few updates in regards to the built motor and old turbos.
Engine wise I have ordered a single eagle rod, main bearings, thrust bearings, 2 sets of rings (only changing the rings on the one piston, got extra in case i break one). King has finally released the correct connecting rod bearing part number but it's not in stock at summit yet (Part number CR6902XP) I still need to order an oem gasket kit and a crank. Upon reviewing my emails with FP and confirming with a caliper on the good turbo, the CHRA were GT28RS. This means the turbine housing is machined and modified to take anything from a GT28 to a Gen2 GTX2876. ATPturbo has the GT2871R super cores for $948 and if i get them with the Nissan 2 bolt inlet, 3 bolt outlet compressor housing, I will only need to modify the hot pipes slightly. I don't want to end up with headgasket issues so I plan on staying under the 800whp mark and since the plain old GT2871R will do that, I don't see the need to spend an extra $1k to get the GTX version. |
Got the FP modded turbine housing/exhaust manifolds cerakoted
http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...-02-00-pm.jpeg http://www.the370z.com/members/sirni...-02-01-pm.jpeg I'm gonna have to do the heat shields now too so they match. |
