My 2010 Sport

As usual I am my own worst enemy. The 12mm nut on the alternator lead by the battery was loose and this caused the the main 140amp fuse to blow.

I have it bridged with an amplifier fuse for the moment until the oem one reaches.

I've found it helpful to print out the diagram pages on the FSM and manually check off every bolt or nut that I've torqued down.

So I am just about at rage quit point. A rod bearing has let go.

I noticed some extra material on the magnetic bung, way more than the first drain. Assumed it was from the destroyed turbo bearing. Looks like it was from that and more I guess. I cannot in good conscience blame the builder as up until the turbo failure it has been a great motor.

Found a stock long block on ebay. Will get that brought in and swap everything over. As time allows next year I'll have the built motor repaired.

Must be one hell of a big "bug."

Also quite sad to hear about this. Like ya said earlier, the moral to this story is "don't buy used turbos."

The long block is in Miami so hopefully in the next 3 weeks or so it will be here.

In also better news my wheels arrived yesterday

19x10 weighs 28.8lbs
19x12 weighs 30.6lbs

They weigh a little more than I imagined but I guess 6.8lbs heavier for the 12's and 5lbs heavier for the 10's than the Sport 19x10's isn't too bad.

That's a big chonk

3.75" of lip in the rear

I didn't take any pics of the front yet. I am gonna do the whole 2x4 test fitment tonight after work and confirm my math was correct

Well I done goofed every so slightly.

19x12's definitely need 6-8mm less offset than 20mm. Will have to roll the fenders or run a slight bit more negative camber.

Traction rod clearance is great

Shock clearance ok as well

Caliper clearance for days

That's alot of wheel

I am officially in love with this wheel

Not down and out yet.

Finally got the stock long block and stripped it of the wiring harness, manifolds and oil pan. I will be getting the car towed back to work some time this week and get started on the swap saturday afternoon and driving sunday.

I have a new oil cooler core I need to get from Fedex and thanks to Husam for shipping a pilot bearing and clutch alignment tool to my brother to bring back this weekend.

Tire rack had a special on Cooper Zeon RS3-S tires, $583 for the set in 275/35R19 and 325/30R19 so they should get here in ~2 weeks.

Should have some reliable hp for christmas

Almost got it all back together yesterday, didn't bring my torque wrench from home so I couldn't torque the flywheel bolts. I should at least have the motor and transmission mated up tonight. Borrowing the space/lift from a sister company and I know my boss will be less than amused it's there during the week.

Almost there! I don't know if it's the fear of defeat again but I could have finished it last night but didn't.

I've got the rad support and all associated stuff, intercooler, piping and fluids to install. The alternator connector clip was broken so I need to depin the one that came on the donor motor and swap over so I wont have issues with voltage.

Coolant is bled, no leaks, ac is cold and most importantly the oil pressure is good.

This motor is really really quiet. I couldn't mess with it too long earlier but all that's left is to put the front wheels back on and the headlights & bumper. Hmm I have some stoptech braided rear lines I could do while it's in the air
