OptionZero 2015 Nismo Build
New year, build thread time.
First mods were minor exterior touches. Black A-pillars and XPel ultimate front quarter protection by Imperial Works https://c4.staticflickr.com/2/1511/2...699cf766ac.jpg Then suspension stuffs and mild drop thanks to SPL Parts and Aragosta Racing: https://c7.staticflickr.com/9/8688/2...51716f83_c.jpg https://c3.staticflickr.com/9/8362/2...498da99d_c.jpg Ride height was to be a little lower and easily driveable because the next step was getting dem wheels to complete the stance. Like I described in my other thread, I went with TE37 Ultras in matte black, special order color not stocked, certainly not in my sizes. Five month wait and finally they showed up: https://c8.staticflickr.com/6/5635/3...5ed4ec26_c.jpg https://c5.staticflickr.com/6/5711/3...a9035992_c.jpg I hated that metal engraved ring/lettering on the edge, but unfortunately, Mackin won't take it off unless you special order like 25 sets or something ludicrous. After checking multiple shops (body shop, pin striper, vinyl wrap place), finally got a shop willing to tackle the job. Not 100% perfect because its impossible to get the paint in there totally evenly, but there is no bleeding past the edge: https://c3.staticflickr.com/1/679/31...8f267d78_b.jpg And now the wheels are finally at Affinity Performance being mounted and aligned. Still waiting on a fender roller for the fronts, but here's the progress: https://c6.staticflickr.com/1/743/31...b82fe9a2_c.jpg Thats at -3 front, -2 rear camber. Wheels are Volk Racing TE-37 ULTRA. Face-4 and S-center (deeper mounting surface) all 4 corners. Goal was MAX CONCAVE everywhere. 20x11, +15 fronts 20x12, +20 rears Project Kics Iconix R40 lugs w/ optional red caps Tires are Toyo T1-R 275/30/20 front 315/25/20 rear Suspension is SPL everything: front upper control arms, tie-rod ends, rear camber arm, rear mid-link, toe arms, eccentric lockout kit Coilovers are Aragosta Type-S, pillowball upper mounts. 14 kg/mm front, 10 kg/mm rear. Rear spring swapped to a six-inch Swift set with thrust washer to fix the clunking. Coilovers are independent height adjustable and the rear mid-links from SPL are also height adjustable so you can dial in pre-load and the swift thrust washer solves the clunking noise everyone gets from spring rotation under compression/decompression. Fitment goal is to be on the aggressive side, but still have more tire than stock. I see alot of people running 9 or 9.5 inch fronts and +30 to +20 offset and thats with anywhere from 245 to 265 fronts. I thought i could go more aggressive than that because folks shy away from camber. I've run an aggressive 17x9.5 +12, 235/40/17 tire in the front of my S14 and seen how camber can affect fitment. It doesn't kill your tire's wear rate. tires will wear unevenly but not faster if your toe is in order. Anyways, thats my rant, hope people will move toward more aggressive front fitment. Rears are a different story. You can do anything in the back, the Z34 chassis has basically infinite clearance. Alignment guy said I could basically run a 5mm spacer and be just fine. I originally was going 325/25/20 but chickened out and went down a width to get a bit more stretch and get that clearance. The rears are going to come down a bit lower and then have camber adjusted to stay around -2. Future plans: Stillen G3 sitting in my garage. Will get an oilcooler from FI or Z1 at the next sale to throw in at the same time. Fast intentions exhaust Carbon Signal Debating between the 09-14 Nismo wing with carbon signal cover or a GT wing (Ings+1, voltex . . . or go insane and get Veilside or Esprit?) Also debating between Varis VSDC, ViS Terminator, or Amuse style hood. Long ways away though. |
Looks great. Ive never seen, or at least never noticed, a blacked out A pillar before. Looks absolutely fantastic. Simplest thing makes such a big impact.
|
Going for a baby GTR look, liked how it turned out with the tint.
|
What did you do with the wheel well flares? Sell them?
|
Sorry, I gave them to a buddy of mine at the vinyl wrap shop I use, probably gonna get him to do some work for me in the future.
I should mention for anyone getting a Nismo, yes, I removed mine. They protrude inward a few mm and can rub against aggressively fitted wheel/tires. You have less room than a regular Z34 in the front Also, to roll the fronts, you need to take them off anyways. The rears were already rolled from the factory. |
Darn. I know someone who would have bought them.
|
Curious ... why would anyone want them?
|
Likes the look. There are only a few who have removed them. I have only seen two sets for sale here.

They don't add any actual clearance tho. If you need room, just roll or do a slight pull.
Heck if I ran a 30 offset rear I could do a 325 tire with low camber |
Goodness me those wheels are lovely!!!
I'm picking up my white Nismo soon, it's already in the body shop for paint protection wrap and gloss black a pillars! We'll be twins :) |

At least that's how it works in my head. Haven't actually tried them. And 30 offsets aren't the easiest to find in 18x11 rims without going custom. Seems to be 22 is the more common. I had thought about grabbing a set of the Nismo rims you have but that machined bit on them stands out too much against a black car so would need to powdercoat them or something. |

I'm telling you these literally reduce clearance, which is why it's so lame Nissan used these. The "visual" extensionhurts more than it helps. But feel free to experiment if that's a look you like. And like I said above, a little camber won't kill you u less all you do is drive in a straight line. Also, my nismo wheels will be up for sale shortly. |
Got the car back from the shop, rear slightly lowered, front bumper tabs shaved down almost completely, NO RUBBING in daily driving or u-turns, only rubbing at extreme driveways/ramps. Extremely happy with the fitment. Slight misalignment of the right side of front bumper but i think we can fix that next time by pounding the bumper tab a bit.
Took a buncha photos, although i waited too late in the day to get good lighting. I need a real photographer! https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/504/32...383a1ef5_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/333/31...376cdec0_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/725/32...c3174123_c.jpg The "7" fell off on the rear emblem during the wash. Reattached it, but only after i took the photos https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/778/32...539703c4_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/580/32...3c493b8f_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/616/32...a612a418_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/267/32...8c51cd22_c.jpg |
