Yup Bob, I looked into your setup and some others like Synolimit, then tried square with my staggered wheels, as soon as I got the opportunity to get those ce28 I pulled the trigger :D I will go to the maximum negative camber I can get front (I suspect it would be limited as I went back to stock height)
hopefully I will get new custom coilovers over the summer, but right now I am focusing on being in a competitive class in Autox. btw, I like your car with those wide wheels\tires :yum: |

My final alignment, couldn't go anymore negative
http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1548782776 It looks little better, perfectly flush. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1548782776 Will clean the car and get better photos for it. |
It was ready to hit the track
http://www.the370z.com/attachments/w..._125454-01.jpg The highlight was I did my best time here on the track, even though I went back to stock shocks/springs. Also, my classification plans failed to go in lower class due to have a twin plate clutch (which wasn't mentioned in the rule book and the marshals got their own interpretation), so, I am ordering a new coilovers from MCA suspension. Videos and my best lap |
What camera are you running? Great vids of the runs and congrats on the personal best!

Thanks, I use Sony X3000, I mount it in front of my face.

Nice driving brother! You are definitely getting better. Your inputs are smother and your car control is noticeably better. Keep up the good work!:tiphat:
|
Thanks Bob, the switch to normal street tires played a part, as it punishes you when you make mistakes, this time I was focusing on my braking as I wanted to get it later but smoother.
Also, I made an order on MCA Reds with 21kg front and 7kg rear, true type coilovers. :stirthepot: I will order later SPL rear toe link and front tie rod to complete my spl catalogue :yum: |

With these I am ready to install the new coilovers, I have found the unused spl eccentric lock kit bolts. Also, MCA recommended to use stock sway bars with their coilovers, as they are very stiff.
Also, I have caliper rebuild kit for all 4 calipers. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1552399947 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1552399947 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1552399947 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1552399947 |

Work is going on, I want to be ready for next trackday on March 21st. Is there anybody interested in a comparison between r888r and sur4g? Although they are different sizes, toyos being 265/35/18 - 295/30/18 and nexens are 275/40/18 square? I may be able to use the toyos from a friend.

Looks great. I've been eyeballing the MCAs since you posted them.
|
Looking good my friend. I think you will find the Nexen's a better choice over the Toyos. Eagle on here runs the Nexens and he is very fast.

Right on, I have done several track day with Rival S and they are a good tire and put down some good times on the Miata. I know they are really popular with auto x guys. I just put a brand new set of Maxxis Victoria RC-1 on the Miata and I am anxious to see how they do weekend after next.

Yeah, Rivals are great, R1Ss are even greater, it is up there with Hoosier A7 :happydance:

Continued the work after getting swaybars bushings, brackets, and front endlink.
http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1552766719 Unfortunately, the brackets of my exhaust broke while removing it to install rear swaybars. I should find somebody to weld it. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1552766679 Another issue I got with front tie rod, clearance is very little with my 18 inch wheels. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...2&d=1552766695 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...3&d=1552766695 Contacted SPL and they replied amazingly fast, they told me it shouldn't touch the wheels, but if I needed to get better clearance, I can remove some of the bolt material, up to a quarter inch. I got the 19" on it to check the clearance. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...4&d=1552766714 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...5&d=1552766714 Rotors have some cracks, I hope it can hold up to the rest of the season, as there is only like 5 events left (2 Autox, 3 trackdays). Next modifying the tie rods, don't want to have the slightest chance of touching the wheels at track. Installing Endless pads. Taking the exhaust to get welded. Corner balance and alignment. |
The rotors have surface cracks. What you can do is to have the rotors turned 0.010", and then doing a dye penetrant inspection on them to see if the cracks was removed.

Finished the car today, and corner balanced it as quick as possible, didn't try to reach perfect 50%. I modified the tie rods to give better clearance with the wheels. I found out that the car has gone 40 kgs less in weight, I think wheels and coilovers made a difference.

So last trackday was a very great day, it was very exciting, getting 3 seconds off of my best time, and a friend who is getting ready to join tcr drove it and got 2:20.3, but definitely he was going to do sub 20 if there wasn't crowd, and I will work my way out to get it.
My impressions of the coilovers, on street they are very comfy, maybe a little harder than stock, but not harsh at all with soft compression setting. I tried it on an empty roundabout and suddenly I couldn't wait for the trackday. On the track, the front side was very planted and responsive, the rears were bouncy, feels like they are bottoming out, I contacted MCA to check if they went very soft on the rears or there is an issue. Here I got 2:21.5 in the first lap |
Here is the video where my friend got 2:20.3 opt 2:20.2, so I will be aiming to beat his time, currently standing at 2:21.5 opt 2:21.0. He will be going to TCR Europe this season after he dominated the local championship, hope he will do well in his second international competition. He went to 24hr race in Spa before and his team got first.
Also, I found this video for a Cayman GT4 who was following me in my first session, first time to drive my car with the new setup, but I think currently, my car can go head on with GT4s, faster in turns, but GT4 has better power. |
very nice! keep posting :-)

Thank you for support.
Updates: - I will borrow a Sparco Evo 2 US from a friend, I bought a buddy club seat rail which should arrive mid week. - Tomorrow I will receive BFG R1 S in 285/30/18, I will use them for Autox, also, I will get a session on them in track, other sessions, I will use r888rs. https://www.instagram.com/p/BvkSILNnhwx/ |
Wow, that GT4 driver was all business, loving that dive pass on the GTR. Took him a full lap and the long straight to get through you, you are doing the Z34 a great service!!!!
|
Keep us posted on the rear coils soft feel. great driving and videos, as always.
|
cv, the exit speed was on a different level, I was going to continue behind him, but I have 2 lap limit before the car overheat :shakes head: even with all the work, it is still not perfect in that regard, I will try 50 weight next time.
Madwi, I have been in contact with Josh Coote, the owner of MCA, he is a very knowledgeable guy, he explained to me that soft rear springs are mean that way to give leverage compared to front and to put power down easily. Also, he said it shouldn't be bouncing, but before changing anything, I need to check the full adjustment range. So, until next trackday, I wouldn't be able to give any more feedback, I tried on empty parking lot, with softer setting, it doesn't bounce, but will appear in track if it was bottoming out, which now I think it isn't the case, because it should be bouncing in the street as well, but it was very comfy. |

More updates
Getting new BFG R1S in 285/30/18 for Autocross http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1554505692 They are on http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1554505692 Also, getting my seat removed and installed a Sparco Evo 2 US. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1554505692 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1554505692 Got some issues with the install, as I couldn't go as low as I wanted because the shell of the seat doesn't clear the rails and I cannot use the lowest setting. Also, I couldn't use the rails until I flipped one of the side mounts to clear the seat. And here is the some photos of the car with the tires, I think I need to lower it more :icon17: but I don't want to do another alignment and corner balance. Rightnow, I am sitting at -3.25 front camber and -2.00 rear camber. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...0&d=1554505652 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1554505652 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...2&d=1554505690 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...3&d=1554505690 |
First test for the slicks and seat, it is much nicer to drive with seat support, but not nice to get in and out :bowrofl:
I did an Autox event, sadly I got only 4 runs, and one of them was dump, yes it rains over here. Also, still not able to use full grip of the slicks, because the layout was very narrow. My best run One fun experience |

I went to a trackday today, (yesterday if I want to be exact, it is 4:00 AM right now)
The track was dusty, the weather wasn't ideal (around 30C -10 degrees higher than last trackday-), I tried softer settings on the suspension, the bouncing has been less visible, but still there is some instances of snap oversteer, but I have the big issue of changing a lot of the settings :rofl2: this time I had more front camber (-3.25) and different tires (BFG R1 S 285/30/18) I felt the tire height is a big disadvantage to me, although the tires felt very sticky, but many variables to get an apple to apple comparison by times, I didn't beat my best time, but I was close. Some videos from today. |

Last update of the season, we are reaching summer and the weather temps will rise from here onward.
I did two events, one AutoX and the other was a trackday, I got more feel about the suspension. On AutoX, I had 4 runs, I started it with a run with soft settings, the car was like a boat :rofl2:, stiffened the fronts with soft rears, it was tighter in front, but squats when I turn and accelerate, until I maxed the stiffness, and the car felt very tight and responsive, I have been in a very tough class, the class simply is any car with 2.5-3.7 engines NA or 1.6-2.5 FI, all other mods are open without restriction, many modified cars and luckily I got 3rd place. This is my best run Then before the track, I lowered the rear a little and re-aligned the car, went with -2.8 front and -1.85 rear, toe and caster the same as before, I returned the Nexens, and on the track I tried to feel the suspension rather than trying to get lap times, started with very soft rears and stiffened the rears, my front left fender was rubbing, with soft setting, the car was less likely to bounce, which I concluded that the issue was due to stiff setting, but while the car was putting the power well on exit, I felt the rear was too soft to my liking, it squats a lot which I felt sometimes it disturbs the weight shifting. I liked it more with stiffest setting, although it was bouncing, but it was putting the power efficiently, so maybe the track I attend is very smooth that I need to get stiffer rear springs, I will contact Josh to see what we can do, I think I will go to 9KG at rear (the stiffest he suggest for a car with aero) and no need to revalve the shocks. This is a short session from last track Some photos I got http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1557277108 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1557277108 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1557277108 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1557277108 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1557277108 http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1557277108 |

Cool! The autox puts a very different stress on the car compared to Losail, and must ask for different settings like you describe.
How are your brakes holding up and what is your brake setup exactly? Keep posting! Marty Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G950F met Tapatalk |
Yeah, Autox needs stiffer rears to get a very responsive rear, if you are smooth it will be quick in changing directions, the issue is, I am trying to get somewhere in the middle (between track and autox).
About brakes, currently I have Endless MX72 plus pads front and rear, Z1 2-piece rotors, Z1 ss lines, Z1 master cylinder, and stillen ducts. They are great at track, very predictable and great stopping power, but needs a little time to heat, which is a little troublesome at AX. I had XP10/XP8 before and I think they comes to temp quicker. |

Recently, I sold my Charger SRT, so to have one fun car other than my suv, I opted to fix Z's ac, as we have very hot summer, I took it to a shop and the issue was a big leak in ac condenser, the one integrated in the radiator, so, I ended up with a new one, but this time I went with CSF.
http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1563346771 My current stance for the summer, back to my ze40 with hankook v12 evo2 275/35/19 all around. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1563346771 |
