So the car went for some serious installations  listed as follow
- CJM Road Race Fuel Pump - Zeal Function-X coilover (Hard) by Endless - SPL PRO Front Upper Camber/Caster Arms - SPL TITANIUM Rear Camber Arms - SPL TITANIUM Rear Traction Arms - SPL Eccentric Lockout Kit - RJM Fully Adjustable Clutch Pedal System - Z1 Solid Engine Mounts - Z1 urethane gear mount - Zspeed undershroud cover - Motul 300v 0w40 full synthetic oil - Nismo oil filter - Z1 Magnetic drain plug Will go for a photoshoot after adjusting the height of the car and wash it. My most satisfying mod and impression with the list, RJM clutch pedal, cannot imagine how I lived all this time without it. Most unpleasant, Solid engine mounts, :icon17: the build quality was superb, but I would advise anybody to stay away from them if they daily drive their cars, the vibration and noise is just excessive. |
Awesome build man!

So went to the track, and what a feeling when you are enjoying your session and suddenly low fuel range pop up  the surface was a little slippery, managed to get better laptimes but had an incident where I lost the traction of my rear tires suddenly and thankfully didn't end up in the rails, just some minor dents on my wheels :shakes head:. Still need more tweaks to the coilovers and more track time to see where I get the best feel out of the car.
http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1486888093 So to do, - soften rear sway bar. - lower the rear side of the car. - change alignment settings to a less aggressive ones. want to get the car to understeer as much as possible, before dialing it to be balanced. Has a track day on 17/2 which I hope the surface will be better than yesterday to get more consistent feel. |
Hi my friend I want to ask you something about the DEI Reflect a Gold tape that do you use on the Stillen Gen 3 Intakes. How much tape did you use to wrap them? Do you notice the difference using this tape on the intakes?
I was thinking on buy the 2"x 15' tape but I dont know if was enough for both intakes and im want to make sure that they really work ;) Let me know! Thanks! |
Hi Carlitos, thanks for being interested in my build :D
About the gold wrap, I didn't do any testing of before and after for air temp as my obd2 port is locked and the tuner didn't unlock it, also, I am lazy to go back to him to unlock it  I used a 30x2 tape that I got from my friend (he used no more than 6 inches) and it was enough to wrap the intakes from throttle to the line of radiators. Another friend is installing intakes on his G37 currently and have a full 30x2 tape and I can check how much he will use. |
Want to keep myself and any journal followers updated :)
First this is how near to the rails I was at track last time https://www.instagram.com/p/BQa1kZ7jhdy/ And a flyby at the straight line, this is after some turns of the photo I posted before :happydance: look where the C63 driver went https://www.instagram.com/p/BQ0lPatDr6p/ So, after the incident of lift off oversteer, I decided I want to go to the original understeer nature of the car, and from there I would dial it back to be balanced. I went to the shop and did the following: - Set height from ground to fender Front: 680mm Rear: 675mm (was F 680mm/R 690mm). - Change rear swaybar setting to full soft instead of medium. - Not yet, but will get a less aggressive alignment. Also Installed: - Winmax W6.5 front and rear brake pads. - Z1 rear sprinkle slotted 2-piece rotors. So next track day will be on March 4th, I will try the car there and will update my suspension post :) |

BTW I read some where here on the web page, that some people just install the Hotchkis front swaybar and leave OEM the rear swaybar with good results. Is what im going to do ;) Im going to buy just the Hotchkis front swaybar and change the SPC rear camber arms for the SPL :stirthepot: |

You are welcome, and sorry that I didn't replay sooner, if you have coilovers or different springs, I think it will work with front sway only, with stock suspension, I think the car behaved best with whiteline full soft front and full hard at back ;) but I didn't tried other setups. |

Finally got time to have extended sample of my exhaust setup sound: Fast Intentions TDX 12" resonators and Motordyne Long Tube Headers with Helmholtz Resonators, even 86 cup driver approves the noise  he was the fastest that track day.
No new updates to my car progress or observations as this day was the most crowded trackday to ever be at, with over 30 cars at one session. The second session which the clip is from, was less crowded but still the surface wasn't perfect as it was dump at some places and debris everywhere. The only thing I need to say, the car felt less likely to oversteer, but still not perfect. As I remember the grey 86 that followed me had a lot of upgrades done to it, boltons, coilovers, differential, final drive, semi slicks, etc. And I wasn't pushing to the limit as I had a car in front of me that was fairly fast, so opted to follow, same apply to him. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1488832267 Next will be corner balancing |
Awesome video and pic bro! I wish our tracks here on PR were as clean and new at that track that you run:shakes head:
|
The track is relatively new and they just renovated it last year.
Also, the worldwide journalists are taking extra attention to the slightest mistake to hold on us :roflpuke2: so they are maintaining and taking care of the track as much as possible  which is good for us. |
Awesome bro!!!
|
New updates,
The car has been corner balanced Removed rear swaybar Changed Clutch fluid Changed tires to RE71-R Front 275/35 Rear 285/35 |
Hi bro! one question... I see on the first page of your build that you buy the front bumper Mine's air ducts, why did you not install them?
I was thinking on buy the air ducts to give more air to the Stillen Gen 3 intakes ;) |
Yeah I still have them, I posted a sale thread which didn't go well as it is an overpriced part and the one I have is authentic
:icon18: It is designed to get air directly to oem boxes, I was planning for short rams and they would be very useful, but now I am not sure if they will give the CAI more air. This is how they look, and they are very very light (small part and dry carbon)
( Click to show/hide )
During summer I will check it again and will try to give the Z a body refresh, either a full bodykit or addon parts. So, I will see where the air will go and how I can make them provide more air to the intakes. |

And this happened

Thankfully I didn't have any scratch from that.
Hotrodz, I went sideway into a curb. It was the first time I drive the car in a while. Before the incident I heard a metal sound, like a screw or something similar came out. It was my mistake not to check it immediately, but I am not sure if it has any effect on what happened. My speed was a little high, around 60 mph and my focus went somewhere else, and when I saw the street I found myself approaching a small roundabout at speed, tried to brake hard but the car went into ice mode, and the car went sideway to the curb. I had been told the lowered height could trigger the airbags. Initial inspection, two damaged wheels, upper control arm snapped so hopefully the hub, brakes and suspension all alright, same applies to back, I may replace the hubs for peace of mind. Until I take it to the workshop I wouldn't be able to see underneath. I hope nothing happened to the chasis. The only worry is the airbags, the ecu module which is troublesome, I already was planning to change the seats to racing seats, so I am not worrying about it, but the curtain one I think about fixing. And this is the last photo of it at the track  I have until October to repair and hit the track again. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1502006538 |
Glad you are okay and no one else was involved. I only take a moment of distraction to cause a world pain. Get her back in shape and to the track. Looking forward to more action on the other side of the planet.
|
Yup, lesson learned, and it was a relief that nobody else involved in that.
Next season I have a target of haunting GT4s at the track and of course I will record my sessions and any local competitions ;). |

Glad to see you are ok! The car doesn't look too bad minus the side airbag. Glad to see the ZEs held up well.
|
Rest assured the suspension components were designed to take the impact. Those will bend/break. It takes a lot to bend a subframe. You might as well go ahead and replace the wheel bearings while you're down there. As long as your alignment checks out, you should be good to go!

I will have a follow up post when I have time to take the car to the workshop, hopefully tomorrow. |
sorry to hear about your accident bro! :(
|
Get her fixed up soon, I like to see the track vids.
|
Update,
On Wednesday, I had time to take the car to a mechanic, yesterday, he told me after checking everything looks in good condition except the front UCA, traction link, and obviously the wheels. |
Not bad all things considered!
|
I will go tomorrow to check the car and take photos.
I am planning to replace the obvious first, then I will use the car as daily, to check if there is any other issues. I will change the wheel hubs as well for peace of mind. |

After long time and wait, the car still not finished yet
First, many thanks to Russ and Z1 for getting me the stuff I needed with a timely manner, currently, they are on the way. I ordered FUCA, TL, and RCL for passenger side (right side). Also, trying to sell the wheels with no luck, digged the look of 18 inch Advan GT wheels, want to go that way, but I don't want to pull the trigger while having the Volks. Most likely will order new ze40 in place of the damaged ones as nobody locally interested, I wouldn't track a repaired wheel at all. I attached photos of the damaged arm and link, as well as the wheels. |

Also, I received next season brakes and clutch fluid, I went for Castrol SRF instead of Motul 600.
And I have this lurking around http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1503489076 but I read that it wouldn't fit into the car with interior decor, the shoulder wings will hit the door trim, and the slider will be useless if I used lower base. Also, my shoulder sit as high as the top of harness holes. Looked at the available options, I am leaning toward Cobra seats, to be exact, Imola GT or Suzuka GT with CF back :yum: but not sure if they will fit, they have a little smaller frame than evo 3 but not much smaller. Imola size chart, big photo

Great bro! I hope to see more videos of your Z at the track soon :driving:
|
You want the Suzuka GT as they for taller drivers. I went to a dealer and did a test fitting. I really like them and you can buy different cushions to adjust you butt height up or down. I have the Evo II US and the fit is pretty good my shoulder bolster doesn't rest on the door but it is a close fit.
|

Most likely I will go for suzuka gt driver side and imola (standard or gt) for passenger. Also, I will save nearly 45 lbs without counting my muscle mass :bowrofl: |
And I think I forgot to post these videos, this was from my last trackday of the season, it was hot and humid.
and this was the last sprint event. |

lol, I need to do the same, I was 265 lbs, now 240 lbs, I am aiming for under 200lbs, but lifestyle here isn't making it an easy task.
my car weight was a little over 3500 lbs with nearly full tank and driver, I need to reach 3400 lbs to boost every other performance aspect :stirthepot: |
