We should probably set a rain date for this too - like say Sunday the 3rd. That way we won't have a repeat of last year.

Works for me. Let's have August 9th as a secondary rain date in case we get a weekend of rain.

As far as activities go, I'm thinking we will have the official start time at 10. We can leave for the cruise around 10:30-11 and be back in time for lunch around noon. I wanted to do a hike to Cunningham falls so maybe we could do that after lunch, around 2 pm.

Sounds like a solid plan

I wouldn't be able to make it on that date, but if I'd still be happy to get the salmon and give to someone who can attend.

If y'all wind up on the rain date I'll actually be able to make the drive up!

The pavillion is already rented and it'd be cost-prohibitive anyway. We just want a laid-back bbq.

The good news:
-We don't have to rent a picnic spot.
-$5 admission for in-state residents, $7 for Presto and Chris
-Lots of room (tons). There are trails, fields a lake to swim in (with lifeguards) and even a little waterfall if you want to hike a bit.

The bad news:
-No alcohol and apparently they're pretty strict about it. It's a $55 fine if you get caught. You can only buy an alcohol permit if you rent the pavillion or a cabin.

-No dogs memorial day to labor day even though that directly contradicts what their website says.

I believe I still have my 1 year free pass from Skyline drive somewhere... :icon17:

BoBo, I believe if you flash your MilID, you can get one too. Free 1 year All MD parks.

Can't hike to Cunningham falls if we have dogs with us. Dogs are not allowed on that trail (bridge to the falls).

Maybe we can get Cody & Pat to come down from PA...

Yeah, I'll most likely have a dog with me. Ah well, at least a group that wants to can go to the falls and the other group can stick around and maintain the spot and play with dogs.

Sunday the 3rd may or may not work as a rain date for me. The 9th should, though.

This. If you can't or don't want to participate in any activity, you don't have to.

We'll get a clearer picture of rain dates once we get closer to the actual event and have some idea of what the weather will/could be like.

dmhenderson 06-20-2014 07:40 PM

Frank is definitely coming. I can stay back and guard the picnic spot if need be.
