It's a little south of where you will be, but if you could go to Antelope Slot Canyon in Page Arizona, you will not regret it! You have probably seen it on calendars and such. The only bad thing about it is there is NO WAY to get your Z down in it for a photo shoot. You have to squeeze through a hole in the ground and down a narrow ladder to get into the canyon itself. The guide knows photography and will change the settings on your camera if you need help. I am a guy who leaves it on "Point and shoot" mode, so when he changed my camera settings, the pictures came out great! Looks like the drive will be fantastic! I still think you should schedule it so you can swing by ZDAYZ on your way out or back in...

If you dont stop at the most famous truck stop in the country (likely, world), you probably should.

I visited the AF museum last summer when i drove to Missouri. It was sweet - but hard to get through in the time I had.. it is huge!
this time, i'll do it again, and catch the parts i missed the first time. |

This IS an epic journey
In case you havn't done this yet....
Hell's Half Acre Hell's Half Acre is a large scarp located about 40 miles (64 km) west of Casper, Wyoming on US 20/26. Craters of the Moon (Idaho) Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve is a U.S. National Monument and National Preserve in the Snake River Plain in central Idaho. It is along US 20 (concurrent with US 93 & US 26), between the small towns of Arco and Carey, at an average elevation of 5,900 feet (1,800 m) above sea level. The protected area's features are volcanic and represent one of the best-preserved flood basalt areas in the continental United States. In Yellowstone, if you stop at Old Faithful lodge they will have a list of geyser timing. My favorite geysers are Riverside and Great Fountain. Both are on the lower geyser basin. Riverside is a short walk from the lodge, Great Fountain is a short drive up the west road. California, Nevada, and Northern Utah are outside my travels. Oh... and Colorado. Looks like you already have Badlands, Black Hills (Mt Rushmore, and the Crazy Horse memorial), Custer Battlefield, Yellowstone (East Entrance, nice), and the Grand Tetons. We stopped at the rest stop at the Missouri River crossing on 90. It had a great Lewis and Clark museum and some great views of the river and bridge. I always like stopping at the Devils Tower in NE Wyoming. You know, the Close Encounters Devils Tower. Very cool. It does look epic. Have fun.

Look at the stars from a dark site in South Dakota
And, if you are out in the middle of nowhere ... like Western South Dakota, late in the evening... you know... dark, no towns nearby. And the moon isn't up. Stop, get out of the car and look up. The milky way is an awesome site.

Another great Wyoming road
Another great road in Wyoming comes out of Jackson Hole. Highway 26/287. Takes you right past Hells Half Acre to Casper.
