yea but i wasnt being 100% serious with my comment just felt like making a funny option comment to him. trust me after many times on the dragon opposing idiots on bikes is literally the biggest concern. the pouring rain and traction were less of a concern than bikers leaning was over the center line.

sadly a PA man was killed the day following zdyaz on the dragon. he lost control of his bike in a turn and went head on with a car. died on the scene i believe the article read.

Track days, Mid-Atlantic has VIR, Summit Point etc. For money you can go to SCCA and get a day of training. Checkout

The Tire Rack SCCA Starting Line school is a partnership between the Sports Car Club of America and Tire Rack to give automotive enthusiasts a professional, all-inclusive entry into the world of performance driving.

and

Performance Driving eXperience and Time Trials

Or NASA (National Auto Sport Association) has something similar. These guys will get you started. There are lots of track experience schools around as well. I will be doing the same.

Good luck.

i would love to try VIR and get one of those sick hotel/lodge rooms or whatever with its own garage and your balcony/deck over looks the track.

sadly that would probably be very expensive plus the track time cost and brake upgrades to be safe for high speed braking like that.

i wonder what a total cost for that would be....research time! lol

Yup, should be a group buy. Or a MAZOC buy.

i mean if there's some interest and some research on prices and dates i could be interested myself....pending price and dates of course. summer is filling up fast for me and not a lot of vaca time free at the moment.

My summer is booked into the fall. Maybe planning out to next summer eh? Maybe by than I can put some nicer brake pads and fluid so I can stay on track for more than a lap or two.

JPkirk thank you for the info! I'm very interested in running auto x, just a lot of research to do first!

I wondered why I couldn't find you. :P

I LOVED those flares! Some of the Z's in Japan had those last fall.

Best ZDayZ ever despite the worst weather ever. My disappointment in not meeting you all is a standard feature now though. :)

Edit: My car is so ugly Tony @ FI came up to me to say "I've never seen my exhaust look so bad!"

Next year I'm gonna have to party with you guys at least one night.

Just to clarify...

While seat time is more effective than any bolt-on part, it's not "instant". Like most sports, it takes time and practice to develop the mental "sub-routines" that will eventually run in the back of your head automatically. With time and practice, the mental "noise" will quiet down and the sport will "slow down" for you.

Don't get discouraged. No matter how slow (or fast) you are when you start, YOU WILL GET FASTER with good practice.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that if you get hooked, as so many of us do, there is no top to this mountain. Almost 10 years in, I still NEED to drive better. The better I drive, the more obvious every little mistake is....and there are many on any given run. I know there is no such thing as a "perfect run", but I can't stop chasing it anyway.

03threefiftyz has a quote from Peter Egan in his sig:

"Racing makes Heroin addiction look like a vague wish for something salty."

NASA, PCA, BMWCCA and many others. just search for track days in your area. May have to go to VIR, Summit Point, etc. Not sure what is close to MD. Probably BMW and PCA are the best places to start.

garages are usually 100/day and depending on the weekend, the garage rooms are 120-150 per day. I always try to get one of each when I go there, its just so convenient.

However, now that the paddock is paved, there probably isn't a need for the garage.

But did he actually make a call?:p

I got "mirage" bars throughout the week but was never able to actually make a call. (sprint)
