Why did you have 2?

eastwest2300 08-10-2013 08:17 PM

I bought another one during black friday for $199, I couldnt pass up that deal.. It came with 2 games and a controller..

dmhenderson 08-10-2013 11:34 PM

Watching the DotA 2 international. 2.8 million dollar prize pool.
I clearly chose the wrong profession.

b1adesofcha0s 08-10-2013 11:37 PM

That's a pretty good deal.

I used to want to be a professional gamer, I'm not good enough to play against koreans though. They have training camps, coaches, television channels dedicated to gaming... over here we don't have anything like that yet

dmhenderson 08-10-2013 11:40 PM

DotA: Fun as hell to watch, infuriating to play.

Americans and Chinese dominate DotA. It's not the microfest SC is.

Ah, I've never played Dota. Played LoL casually because one of my friends played it, they're pretty similar right?

dmhenderson 08-10-2013 11:46 PM

DotA is much more vicious than LoL. Less survivability, high dependence on team strategy and twitch reflex.

Edit: Also more frustrating. Very small mistakes can lose games almost instantly and the horrible playerbase will make you aware of your mistakes (whether real or perceived) very quickly. Where LoL games end in like 12/11 decisions, DotA games turn into curbstomps very quickly if someone starts to snowball.

eastwest2300 08-11-2013 04:57 PM

I played Last of Us all weekend... excellent excellent excellent game!

b1adesofcha0s 08-11-2013 05:06 PM

I still gotta wait till Tuesday to start playing it, but I have watched 1.5 seasons of Dexter this weekend so far :|

eastwest2300 08-11-2013 05:14 PM

Its a good game bro, I think Im only half way through..

eastwest2300 08-11-2013 05:17 PM

I tell you this, to finish this game, you're gonna have to earn it, you're probably thinking what does that mean? well.. when you start getting into it, you'll see what I mean. I'll just say this, finishing this game, it aint gonna come easy..

b1adesofcha0s 08-11-2013 05:39 PM

Meh I've beat difficult games before, I'm not worried.

eastwest2300 08-11-2013 06:59 PM

Its not too difficult (yet, I havent finished it yet).. but it can be a little frustrating.. you'll see.

4r3s 08-12-2013 07:31 AM

Play it on Survivor your first time through and you'll hate the world.

eastwest2300 08-12-2013 08:20 AM

Its pretty tough just on the normal mode..:rofl2:

As much as I would love to try that I do have a bunch of other games to get through in a limited time. I'm actually thinking about waiting to play last of us until I finish watching Dexter. I've got like 2 seasons left and that show is pretty damn addicting.

eastwest2300 08-12-2013 08:36 AM

Dude, are you serious bro?

b1adesofcha0s 08-12-2013 09:37 AM

Maybe you should try watching Dexter. I ended up watching 2 full seasons of it this past weekend. That show is awesome.

eastwest2300 08-12-2013 09:39 AM

I've never seen it.. hmm, I guess I'll have to check it out.

b1adesofcha0s 08-12-2013 09:54 AM

It might be a bit slow in the beginning, but keep watching till at least halfway through season 1 before giving up on it. I stopped watching it after the first 2-3 episodes because it started slow then started watching again after my sisters told me it got better.

eastwest2300 08-12-2013 10:19 AM

Ahhhh dude, its gonna be hard to to catch on to it, Im use to watching Hells Kitchen, MasterChef and all his other shows.

b1adesofcha0s 08-12-2013 10:49 AM

Yeah it's definitely not a cooking show. :p

eastwest2300 08-12-2013 11:01 AM

Just for you dude, Im gonna check it out.. brother, I gotta start saving up for the PS4.

eastwest2300 08-17-2013 04:36 PM

Im on Spring, in The Last of Us.. winter was a pain in the azz.. But it was good.

b1adesofcha0s 08-30-2013 11:13 PM

So I've played Last of Us for a couple hours now and it's just ok IMO. Graphics and story telling are great, but I guess this game just isn't for me. I'm gonna finish it, but probably won't play it again. Not sure what about the game I don't like because I loved all of the Uncharted games. Hopefully it will get better later on.

( Click to show/hide )
I'm up to the part where you meet Harry and Sam and you go with them to the hotel room hideout.

eastwest2300 08-31-2013 01:01 AM

Dude, it gets better, I liked it.. I just started playing Dead Island: Riptide.. its pretty sweet.

b1adesofcha0s 09-01-2013 12:43 AM

So I pretty much played Last of Us all day today and managed to finish it. It did get better from the when I last posted. I think it may have been a bit overhyped for me, so I was expecting it to be like the best game ever. It was really good, but I liked Uncharted better. I can't wait to see what Naughty Dog can do on the next gen consoles.

eastwest2300 09-01-2013 07:36 AM

I doubt theres gonna be a HUGE difference between the PS3 and PS4, performance wise... yes, graphics...no. I guess we'll see soon enough.

There will be. 4x better processing power and about 15x the graphics power. Look at watchdogs to see how great the game looks on the new console. Then go look at xbox360/ps3 initial release games vs 2013 titles. Youll see a HUGE difference. That same difference will show up on the new consoles for sure.

dmhenderson 09-01-2013 10:27 AM

Also remember that launch titles NEVER really showcase what the hardware can really do. It usually takes a year or two for devs really make use of it.

You do get a glimpse of what they can do with launch titles. It's really not till the end of a console's life cycle where you see what it can really do. There is going to be a huge leap once 4k displays become more mainstream and affordable. Hopefully this will happen during the new gen's life cycle.

You're talking about ultra displays right?

Not sure if that's what they're called, but they have like 4x the resolution of 1080p.

Now it's time for me to get back into the Assassin's Creed series before PS4 comes out. Still need to play Brotherhood, Revelations, and AC3. Then there's also GTA V coming in 2 weeks :excited:

eastwest2300 09-01-2013 04:29 PM

I believe thats what they are.. although I have yet to actually have seen one.

ZCarMan 09-05-2013 05:43 PM

Okay, this is kind of cool if you are into this.

MyKindaGuise 09-05-2013 06:32 PM

On to the 4k topic. I don't know how these consoles are going to do it really. Are they even launching with HDMI 2.0? If not then you will NEVER see 60hz/60fps. Also the consoles at the moment are only pushing full 1080p right now whereas current gen consoles run at a native 720p and have an upscaling processor built in to do "simulated 1080p". I have a feeling that is what we will be seeing but I doubt itll be the 4k aka 3840x2160(its something like that).

Anyways I know for a PC to push 4k it takes at least two high end $400+ gpus. I know that the consoles have the games run direct from the hardware level so there is a huge performance bump there but I just don't see it happening.
