Thats just the thing, most consumers dont want to spend $500 on consoles even if they had PC type components that were "better"

Correct. Honestly if they made them 600-700 it would be worth it once everyone saw the payoff. The important thing to remember is this is the first generation running x86. This is also the first gen with PC os integration. What I'm getting at is next gen we will just have PCs. no more consoles.

$399 for PS4. Any higher and you'd see a dramatic drop in volume.

I had the day off work yesterday so I stopped by Best Buy and had my first sit down in front of some 4K screens. Wow. The difference is easily the same type of jump in detail going from standard def to 1080p HD. The prices were expensive for sure, they had the $25K 84" Sony on the wall and it was beautiful, but you can get a 55" for $3.5K which seems pretty reasonable to me. Still more than I'm willing to spend on a TV right now but I'm starting to get an itch....

Ohh bro, you and I both, i did the same thing on sunday, I just had to see it, Im totally sold on it, albeit, it is new technology, I'd say if we waited the prices will come down. I also asked the sales rep, for someone that had several blu ray movies, what would need to be done to play those movies in that resolution. He said you'd have to purchase an upconverting player which was pretty expensive as well..

So me personally, I want that type of TV, but Im gonna wait on it..

The ps3 didnt really see sales pick up until they dropped the price

Sony is coming out with PS Vita TV, its suppose to be $100, streams movies, and former games and some other cool features... I saw a news article on it yesterday.

But even then it was $500 when it really hit stride so regardless people will pay.


Start next gen consoles at $800...let people complain and then drop the prices to $700. EVERYONE WINS :bowrofl:
