Also, it's a RPG only in the loosest sense of the term. It's a hack and slash/action game. There's a backstory but the games don't force it down your throat. If you just want to run around stabbing things without paying any attention to the story, it won't hurt you any. There aren't any quests to complete or princesses to save. Just lots and lots of things to stab. |

How unfair is the game? I found a boss that will actually summon other players to kill you during the immensely unfair boss fight itself. Yeah, you can actually fight against other people just trying to play through the game.
It's super fun. The boss can kill a player in 1-2 hits. Now throw other players into the mix that don't have "patterns". It's so funny. |
I'm guessing none of you are going to PAX this coming weekend?

Never got into penny arcade myself. Let us know how it was!

Any of you nerds know much about A/V Receivers for a home theater setup? I'm looking to get one for around $300-400 and have no experience with them at all. Looking at the lower end 2014 models from Sony, Pioneer, Yamaha, and a 2013 model Denon.

Home theater receivers buying guide Then check out some of the comparisons. AV Receiver Reviews | Audioholics Best AV receiver reviews and picks - Engadget Home Page | Sound & Vision I guess the real question is, are you just looking for someone to tell you what to buy or do you want information so you can pick? The former, I have an Onkyo, it rocks, buy one of them. The latter, well, that's all that other info... Hope this helps. :tiphat: jk |
Hey blades, I've always had Yamahas. Im currently using a Yamaha integrated with a PS3, PS4, Apple TV, and digital cable, I have a surround sound theater system too, but I havent hooked it up yet.

I did end up doing all of this research myself and decided on getting the Denon AVR-X1000. For only $300 brand new, it's hard to beat. Thought about getting something with 4K compatiability, but I'm better off waiting a couple years for 4K tech to be better established. Quote:

anyone have a socket 2011 CPU they'd be willing to lend me to try and test my new computer build? Either the mobo or the cpu I got is defective and its hard to know for sure without at least one known good item.

no POST, everything just powers up and all you get is a black screen. I've tested the video card in my old machine and it works. I'm assuming the memory works because there hasn't been any type of indication that they are bad. The mobo required a bios flash for the processor to be compatible. I believe I have updated the bios but there is no real feed back mechanism to confirm it actually worked without a working processor. After flashing the bios I now get a dummy cpu light on the mobo lighting up. the led is supposed to indicate there is an issue with the cpu. I've reseated the cpu and still get the same result. So, I think the CPU is bad but, it still could be the mobo. The CPU has been RMA'd and is on its way back to newegg. Just trying to track down a known good cpu so that I could verify if its the mobo or not.
|
Well, there it is. Chicken/egg thing. Sounds like you are on the right track. So no post so no beeps. Did you check power supply voltage? Sometimes that flash of the BIOS fails in a spectacular way, bricking the board. Happened to me once, long ago.
Hope the new CPU fixes it. |
thinking I might have to make the jump to 4k sooner than anticipated. Other than it being a TN panel I've heard nothing but good things on this monitor and its reasonably priced.

4K or bust at this point. Not investing in technology that will soon be replaced. If I was looking a year or two ago yes I agree.

Don't think I ever posted a pic of my completed man cave setup. Got a 60" Vizio M602i-B2 TV, Denon AVR-X1000 A/V receiver, and Monoprice 10565 5.1 speakers. It looks and sounds amazing, especially coming from just a 32" TV.
