Plasti-Dip mod this weekend:
Fuel and temp gauge in 2010 was silver (bad move Nissan), so I decided to remove it and try plasti-dip spray. A few light coats and here it is. The gauge only picture is with the lights on in early morning. The light fro the gauge information does shine through the plasti-dip. The whole pod is with the lights on. I think it looks much better than silver. I put it on to thick the first time, peeled it off and applied a lighter coat. I like it better than the silver look. |
I like it dude..

So did you spray over the lights and they're just shinning through or did you actually block them out and then sprayed? |
It looks like he taped it off, I just tried plastidip'n my Z blinkers, everything was perfect until I removed the tape... epic FAIL...

Thats exactly what happened.. I let it dry then tried to remove it, I've come to realize plasti dip is a temporary fix, the first time you wash your car, you're liable to remove some of it, if not all of it.. I'd imagine.
|
Not necessarily. It depends on how you handle it. They do make a cloth to wash plasti dip with, so you could use that instead of a towel. I never had problems washing my wheels when they were plasti dipped

Haven't ever watched a Maryland game.

That I'm not interested in college sports....

I also Plasti-Dipped my tail light (I only did one) but felt as if it would make it too hard for others to see my brakes and turn indicators. Once I realized that, I decided that having others know what I was doing was more important than the look that it gave me. I did like the blacked out look of the lens, but want the lights to be more visible to the people following me. I peeled the Plasti-Dip off the tail light. I also completed my door handles, and that is still there, but I do not like the look/feel of the texture on the handles. However, It does show me that I want to have them painted, as they look much better on my Black Cherry color when they are darker and not silver. |

2. I feel the same way which is why I haven't done mine. 3. Yes, definitely get them painted. I think plasti dip is good for giving you the idea of what a certain color looks like without having to actually commit to it. I personally don't like how poor plasti dip looks with a little wear and dirt. Good for temporary solution, bad for long term. |

:iagree::iagree::iagree: Dude, I was JUST saying this yesterday on another thread... you're exactly spot on. |
Trouble is any tint/paint/etc on the tail lights in VA is illegal.
|
That is true..
