I didn't think anything was abnormal for this section.

Awesome!

ZCarMan 06-18-2013 05:09 AM

He is one of the few guys who still does great impersonations! The MAZOC shirt in the photo is awesome! That brings up a potential thread for the MAZOC group for people to begin to post up photos of them in various places or with various note worthy people sporting their MAZOC shirt(s).

b1adesofcha0s 06-18-2013 10:15 AM

My CEL came back on :(

Ordered an OBDII scanner for myself. I'm hoping I can just clear the code before I leave and then go get the emissions testing done before it comes back.

m4a1mustang 06-18-2013 10:16 AM

What code are you getting?

damn dude, well obviously "clearing" the code will temporarily fix the problem.. have you tried the steel wool?

Vicster 06-18-2013 10:39 AM

I keep my bluetooth scanner for Torque in the car at all times so if you still need it and don't have yours yet this weekend just remind me.

I'm with Steve - what code is it throwing?

b1adesofcha0s 06-18-2013 10:42 AM

Yeah I put steel wool in on Friday, but didn't work. I already ordered the scanner and should have it by the end of this week or early next week. The code it was throwing is PA200.

If you mean P2A00 then try the relearn process:

Here are the instructions:

1. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
2. Turn ignition switch OFF.
3. Disconnect mass air flow sensor harness connectors, and restart and run engine for at least 5 seconds at idle speed.
4. Stop engine and reconnect mass air flow sensor harness connector.
5. Make sure DTC P0102 is displayed.
6. Erase the DTC memory.
7. Make sure DTC P0000 is displayed.
8. Run engine for at least 10 minutes at idle speed.

Vicster 06-18-2013 10:54 AM

Did you read this post? http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...ions-cels.html

There's a bit at the end that talks about resetting the ECU.

eastwest2300 06-18-2013 10:55 AM

Good stuff man.. I need to copy and paste this, you never when you'll need this.

I'll have to try that, thanks!

That might work literally right before he goes in for the OBD-II emissions test. Be weary though that this probably won't work in the next few years when MD and VA emissions testing equipment gets an upgrade and they can see when your ECU was re-flashed, how long your last CEL was on for before it was cleared, when the CEL was last cleared, etc.

b1adesofcha0s 06-18-2013 11:47 AM

Well luckily for me, this upcoming emissions will probably be my last with the Z.

Yeah, my Dad just told me about the software upgrades to the testing equipment on Sunday (he works for the DEQ emissions control program). They also might start making the inspectors pay closer attention to stuff on the visual inspections and enforce them more often

That's really annoying.

b1adesofcha0s 06-18-2013 11:57 AM

So for steps 5-7 I'm assuming that's reading those values on an OBDII scanner.

Vicster 06-18-2013 12:49 PM

Sounds correct to me.
