Yeesh no thanks. That's a shame. Kinda mindblowing that no one has figured out how to make red lugs that y'know...stay red. They really only have to do two things:

1) Keep wheels from falling off

2) Stay red

I have the extended lugs that came with my DRS spacers. Figured although not mandatory, they would probably be a good idea.

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 12:09 PM

So by the same token I would assume black chrome lugs will turn grayish?

m4a1mustang 06-12-2013 12:10 PM

Once you go black, you never go back.

The black lugs stay black.

m4a1mustang 06-12-2013 12:11 PM

FWIW I prefer steel lugs for durability.

But it is all a moot point. Can't use them with your OEM wheels.

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 12:35 PM

Yeah. I think I'll just let this sit for now. Thanks anyway.

I believe they make these "adapter" or "washers" where you can use tuner lugs on acorn or stock style lug seats?

not sure how safe/effective it is lol

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 01:38 PM

Yeah like with the DRM spacers, I know it's not *likely* that a wheel will go flying off but if it's possible, no thanks.

Anyone care to explain why there are differently shaped lugs? I don't get why that convex shape = "tuner"

:iagree: Don't want a replay of the RX-7 AutoX from long ago... Can't look for the video from work, but someone may be able to pull it and post it.

It's more or less the design of the rim itself. Most aftermarket wheels include a cone style lug seat so it requires tuner lugs, which seat better. Can you use stock lugs on aftermarket wheels? Yes your wheels won't fall off but your rim also won't seat properly = vibrations at certain speeds

not sure if the last one applies to passenger cars lol never seen it before

ADAPTER WASHER TO CONVERT 60 DEGREE TAPER LUG NUT TO BALL SOCKET FOR BTR OR 5 LUG CENTERLINE RIMS

you didn't see this from me

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 02:17 PM

Just weird that there's a standard convex lug shape for all aftermarket wheels. Very strange.
I knew they wouldn't fit but didn't know why vOv

Also strange the forged nismo wheels don't follow the tuner model but w/e

Forged in fiery pits of Mordor.

Did you guys see Visconti's new pricing and release? $975 for a non dyno tuned setup? haha. No wonder they weren't responding to me. They jacked the price up $400.

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 02:26 PM

Since I already have stud replacements, it'd be yet another stress point on the wheel bearings/hubs. I don't think it'd be worth it but thank you.

Yeah but so do other shops haha. Im not saying they aren't good. But RT is dyno tuning my FI build for less than that. Also anyone with bigger injectors/fuel pump/e85/FI will need the stage 2 and that's probably close to 1500. And if this was going to be the case then they shouldn't have told me $600 dynod.

Oh. LMAO. For the lulz

I know they do on the GTR market but...this isn't a GTR so they will need to realize that. an extra $300 for a an extra 10whp? maybe

eastwest2300 06-12-2013 02:34 PM

Hey cody, just tune that Mother F'r you're self.

Lol! Pat wants to but hes scared of breaking my expensive car...well expensive to us anyway.lol He tuned his Miata from scratch so im sure he could. IDK RT has been real good to me and cut me some good deals so I have that shop loyalty now :p

Seems like red is just a very saturated and therefore vulnerable color. The red in tattoos fades easily, it's hard to tint icing to a deep red without affecting the flavor, etc.

I feel you bro.. so tell me, what exactly are you going to do with my exhaust?

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 02:41 PM

Hopefully I won't need anything more complicated than an update to my Uprev tune once the SC goes in.
