May isn't that hot yet, but it will be on the ZDAYZ'S weekend.

Blades, that oil cooler is so clutch lol.

When I put my splitter on (it sits 5" off the front of the amuse bumper), my oil temps will not rise above 180 in 70 degree weather (EDIT: at highway speeds) with duct tape over the front. Without tape (I had to run to the 7 Eleven for gas) it wont get above 150, which terrifies me.

On the track, however, my oil temps reached ~240. I changed my gear selections and stuck with 4th gear (instead of 3rd) in turn 1, and it helped a little.

I registered for NASA HPDE1 June 6-7 :)

Thank you everyone for the advice! After speaking with everyone and with NASA registration, it makes most sense (even though I may be ready for HPDE2) to stick HPDE1 out for at least one more weekend at Summit Point Main.

today woke up to 30 degree temps.....lets just say the drive to work wasn't exactly hitting operating oil temps with the 34 row lol

took me about 3 miles to hit 150 but then I kept it in 4th for a bit and it popped up to 180. lol

70 degrees all last week and a half so the tape came off the oil cooler. then this nonsense. thanks mother nature.

next week it back to normal.

I gotta make it to a FFX meet when Zstig is there so I can pick up his generously offered oil cooler block off plate :tiphat:

I saw a Z06 on R888s this morning and I said a small prayer for him.

I used sheet metal and velcro, it works like a charm.

240 isn't bad - why did you change your gear selection? ****, my Vette was hitting 280 on Mobile 1 last time lol.

^^^^

How are there people still running w/o block-off plates? Premature engine wear can be pretty nasty below 160-180 degrees...takes just a little bit of time to trim up a custom plate for yourself, and throw a bit of velcro on...

Glad to see you're getting some good use out of it

1. I don't drive in cold weather. this cold front is just ill-timed lol
2. I know it's bad but it's not like I'm going out balls to the walls with it cold.
3. it'll be back to normal temps tomorrow just a little cold in the am.

I know one thing for sure, Im not fvcking around with tires anymore, (all seasons from here on out) not after my 180 degree spin out in my honda 2000 on I-95 south of richmond just a couple months ago.. let me tell you man, thats the most terrorfying sh1t Ive ever experienced.. And im lucky I didnt hit anyone, or hurt me or my dog...

That's the damn truth right there. Unless you're racing, almost nobody needs an oil cooler.

Summer tires in the summer, winter tires in the winter. You have like 8 sets of wheels to put tires on. Problem solved. :icon17:

I've been getting my oil temps up near 260 on my solo cruises and this is in like 70 degree weather. Didn't used to get that hot pre-tune unless I was cruising in like 100 degree temps. Doing another trackday will be fun in the summer without an oil cooler :p
