May isn't that hot yet, but it will be on the ZDAYZ'S weekend.

man, lets do it... (i kid, i kid :icon17:)

Blades, that oil cooler is so clutch lol.
When I put my splitter on (it sits 5" off the front of the amuse bumper), my oil temps will not rise above 180 in 70 degree weather (EDIT: at highway speeds) with duct tape over the front. Without tape (I had to run to the 7 Eleven for gas) it wont get above 150, which terrifies me. On the track, however, my oil temps reached ~240. I changed my gear selections and stuck with 4th gear (instead of 3rd) in turn 1, and it helped a little. I registered for NASA HPDE1 June 6-7 :) Thank you everyone for the advice! After speaking with everyone and with NASA registration, it makes most sense (even though I may be ready for HPDE2) to stick HPDE1 out for at least one more weekend at Summit Point Main. |
today woke up to 30 degree temps.....lets just say the drive to work wasn't exactly hitting operating oil temps with the 34 row lol
took me about 3 miles to hit 150 but then I kept it in 4th for a bit and it popped up to 180. lol 70 degrees all last week and a half so the tape came off the oil cooler. then this nonsense. thanks mother nature. next week it back to normal. |
I gotta make it to a FFX meet when Zstig is there so I can pick up his generously offered oil cooler block off plate :tiphat:
I saw a Z06 on R888s this morning and I said a small prayer for him. |

I actually had a moment that I thought about getting R888's :ugh2: |
I used sheet metal and velcro, it works like a charm.

How are there people still running w/o block-off plates? Premature engine wear can be pretty nasty below 160-180 degrees...takes just a little bit of time to trim up a custom plate for yourself, and throw a bit of velcro on... |

I have a solution ...
Don't install an oil cooler ... :ugh2: |

2. I know it's bad but it's not like I'm going out balls to the walls with it cold. 3. it'll be back to normal temps tomorrow just a little cold in the am. |
I know one thing for sure, Im not fvcking around with tires anymore, (all seasons from here on out) not after my 180 degree spin out in my honda 2000 on I-95 south of richmond just a couple months ago.. let me tell you man, thats the most terrorfying sh1t Ive ever experienced.. And im lucky I didnt hit anyone, or hurt me or my dog...
