In regards to GTRs and warranties, there's a thread on that forum about warranty stories, what happened, whether it was warrantied or not, and how they got to that point. The moral of that thread is, there is no black and white with Nissan warranties, especially with the GTR as they know how expensive it is to replace stuff. So cars who are modded beyond bolt ons and tune, have had trans replaced because they were close with the service manager, to cars that are almost bone stock that were denied warranty work.

You don't understand how many times I had to explain this when I was at AAM, and of course it would just be easiest to say yes or no, but the reality is, there is no definite answer besides keep your car bone stock and leaving traction control on lol

Launching a GTR in anything but R-R-OFF you might well just roll off the line, all it'll do is bog, but everyones afraid to launch with traction control off, bunch of babies lol

Edit: I've been out of the GTR hype for over a year now so I'm sure there are a lot of nice aftermarket launch control softwares. I know EcuTek did an awesome job with their launch that would detech slip, and tether power accordingly. I'm sure they've advanced even more in the last year (and or Cobb caught on). However I believe all of this requires traction control to be turned off

I've learned my lesson. I'll be happy owning a good looking car with a nice exhaust note (that has a back seat!). No more ridiculousness.

Also just because you have a "one of" car doesn't make it worthwhile. I'm stubborn and wanted to see this through. I have one more show season and I'm done. Got my midlife crisis out of the way early...

Now you know why, even though I had a heavily modified LS1 Camaro, that I have no intention to go the same level of ape-**** crazy on my Corvette.

Just ain't worth the hassle for a few more horsepower. Even though you spent a metric f-ckton of money, I'm glad you realized that when you want to shoot for the moon, start with a better platform...

Sucks to hear about all the issues you had Mark. Being the guinea pig or first one to do something like that usually doesn't end well. I don't think I'd ever mod any more than full bolt ons + tune, minor suspension stuff, and maybe some minor visual mods. I'd much rather take all that mod money and just buy a better car to begin with. Pretty much why I haven't added any mods to the Z since I got it tuned 2 years ago.

If things work out for me this year, I'll be looking to sell my Z and buy a C7 or 2015 5.0 around the end of the year

And who are you impressing, anyway? Usually people who like to ride on your coat tails, because others who've heavily modified their own cars probably think that only their car is the best thing since sliced bread.

I guess I'm just over the fact of spending my money so OTHERS can get off on my car and the money I spent.

Yep. I just want a car that is mostly the way I want it from the factory. I don't want to play with suspension or tuning anymore. Exhaust, tint, and I'm golden. :icon17:

Who am I impressing? Are you asking me specifically? I mean other than car shows, I do this stuff for me. It's fun. It's a toy.
I hadn't done the tuner car thing before and wanted to try it.

I meant that rhetorically. If you do it for you, cool. But some people don't - they do it for the attention of others. And that is dumb if you ask me.

Nothing is more important than impressing people on the internet.

Agree with that. It's my time and money. I don't really care what other people think about how I spend either (outside or car shows because I have a competitive streak).

Except for proving other people wrong on the internet.

Or trolling people on the internet.
