You really don't want to run any street pad on track. You might be fine with a Ferodo DS2500 on track while you're still learning and going slow, but if you are going to do any real track work you need to be looking at real track pads.

That said, Ferodo DS2500 (for the street) all the way.

Street: Ferodo DS2500s

Track: Carbotech XP10F/8R

Dedicated track pads are a must... if ur willing to spend the money and time to install a turbo... then slapping some track pads on every so often shouldn't be an issue..

Blipshift is running a black friday special on some old classics through Cyber Monday if anyone is interested... I've already got my order in.

dont z's already come with 6 piston calipers?

eastwest2300 12-01-2013 07:37 PM

Not the base model..

dmhenderson 12-01-2013 07:40 PM

Base model was only sold from 2009-2011 and was discontinued in 2012. It came with 18" rims and 4 piston calipers iirc

eastwest2300 12-01-2013 07:41 PM

yup, that is true.

Well I need to replace my street pads first so I want to get something a little sturdier than whatever came with it stock. I'm not going to drive around with track pads on it. Also, I'm supercharged not turbo'd.

I won't see the track until next spring and even then I'm gonna need lessons.

I DD'd my Z with Carbotech XP8's on it for over a year without any issues. The brake dust would probably bother you a lot more than it bothered me though.

the base model was not discontinued, and the base brakes are not 4 piston.

I second the DS2500 as a great street pad, along with the idea of a set of pads specifically for track use.

Yes it was. The sport became the base. The base used to start at ~28k. The sport was 31. Now the "base" is 32k (old sport).

It used to go: Base, sport, touring, nismo
Now it goes: Base, roadster, nismo
