One thing I noticed is that since I'm sort of a control freak I need to know everything that is going on... I get nervous when I'm actually at the race track because I don't know what everyone's pit strategy is or exactly what is going on. I like to sit at home with the broadcast, live timing and scoring on the laptop, and discussion with friends via FB chat. :|

I've kinda put NASCAR on the back burner and really been into the ALMS and Continental sports car racing series. Cool to see multiple classes of racing on some great tracks.

Hardy har har. I know you're being facetious. It's pretty obvious why they break a 180* turn down into two separate turns. They drive like two separate turns, it makes it easier to segment the track for discussing setup with your engineers, and it makes it much easier for a spotter to communicate with the driver about the position of incidents or anything else on track. That's the case for most ovals that feature these 180* corners.

Sports car racing in the US is pretty tough right now. It's been fragmented for a while (ALMS and Grand Am) and there is not that much domestic interest compared to the stick and ball sports. That said United Sports Car Racing (ALMS + GrandAm combining) is going to be good for sports car racing in the US.

British, Australian, and German touring car races are hard to beat... Plus they turn right too...

I remember the old days when Speedvision showed the BTCC races on weekday afternoons. Those were ridiculous... beating and banging all over the place.
