It looks like the mecca for racing..
|
I've been to races before but never to any place as condensed as Bristol. Half mile track that feels like a stadium. Grand stands all around with seating for 160,000.

Supposedly there are no bad seats at this track, you can see everything from the first row pretty much. |

That would make for an interesting race night at NASCAR, make them turn right... Before all the haters come out, I'm kidding (sort of). I know it does take skill and great car control at those speeds and proximity to others. Have fun and take your hearing protection! That close is going to VERY loud with the "bowl" affect of the stadium style seats. |
Yep I always wear ear protection. People always underestimate how loud 43 of those cars are at full throttle.
|
I cant imagine, i guess theres a massive difference from seeing it live and whats on tv.
|
Yeah most people that aren't into it (on TV) really enjoy actually being there. There is so much action happening on track that you can view in person that the TV will never be able to show. They might be focusing on the leaders or talking about their pit strategy but there are battles for position all throughout the pack. And you get to watch the cars sliding around on the edge of control. And of course the sounds and smells... awesome.
|
I've only been to one race (Dover Downs) and yeah wow, you have no idea how loud it is. I didn't really enjoy watching it in person though. You just don't see enough and it's impossible to follow the race from your seat.
Oh and also, you will smell like racecar fuel when you leave. |
Dover was the first race I ever went to (1996). I've been to a bunch since... Darlington, Daytona, Charlotte, Richmond, etc. I have a friend that works for Joey Logano so I've been able to get the behind the scenes access with him before. There's just so much to take in when you're there in person... stuff you will never be able to see if you just watch it on TV.
Also, Hendrick Motorsports employs some hot female engineers. :yum: Hot Passes get you pretty close to the action. :) http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-x...xTWLXH4-XL.jpg http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-5...5rMhfbQ-XL.jpg :icon17::icon17::yum: |
