Ahhh, yeah I did some research on it, and it is soldered. Apple recommends getting the upgrade during the process of ordering from them.. :shakes head:

Welcome to apple life. I really like their software a lot but my god do they do some stupid ****. Its why I built myself a Hackintosh. Aint nobody got time for that proprietary junk.

I'm going the other way on this one. Apple does hardware really well, nobody can really compete with their style. The thing that I don't like about the hardware though is that they have to do stupid things like solder the memory in place to save the extra space a socket would have taken up because they need curves. I think they also do this to force people into just upgrading to a new computer because something that should be stupid simple like swapping a stick of memory has become stupid complicated.

Their software on the other hand is a load of horse manure to be polite. Nothing is intuitive in this realm.

This may be true, but man I fricken love the Macbook Air, its pretty badass.

but..but...its so pretty. :shakes head:

Only reason I like OSX is that its shiny and the UI has a lot of neat graphics. That's pretty much it. I like the chassis that Apple comes out with. MBP MBA and iMac's all look stunning and sleek. I just don't like how they are doing so much integrated crap. From a business and revenue standpoint I get it but it just makes life a little difficult.

My only mac is a 15" MacBook Pro (and if you count my work laptop a 15" MacBook Pro, so two Macs). I love it - it works great with my DJing equipment, has run almost flawlessly over the past 3ish years, is EXTREMELY sturdy (and will probably continue to last because of this) and does exactly what I need it to do. Was it overpriced? Absolutely, but compared to the other **** on the market when it comes to laptops, I could care less. The only laptop comparable in my experience was an enterprise edition laptop, the HP Elitebook which, when all is said and done, will cost the same as my Pro.

There is something to be said about Apple's ridiculously greedy marketing and manufacturing schemes, but that is also the reason why as of Aug. 2012 they had $112 billion in the bank. This doesn't mean I agree with it though...

You will probably begin to see some of this change with the passing of jobs...but somehow Apple has the ability to tell people what they will want in the future. As long as they keep this up, they will continue to make BANK.

I am by no means an Apple fanboy - I have an android phone (have always had androids since the very first android, the G1 - in fact you could probably call me a Google fanboy), an Apply tablet, a Windows PC, and I have switched between Intel and AMD, NVIDIA and ATI my whole life. Moral of the story is, get what fits you and does what you need it to do at your price point.

Oh and as far as software is concerned, I'm more of an open source, I don't need you to hold my hand, kinda guy. I don't mind OSX on my laptop, but my tablet is jailbroken FORSURE.

Masa 07-10-2013 03:48 PM

Yeah I flipped back and forth between iphones and androids.

On the two iphones I had, AWAYS JAILBROKEN - this goes for the two ipads I own as well. Honestly, I prefer the ipad to the android tabs.

Phone wise, rocking the GS4 now, rooted with pure android rom - oh god so fast and it blows the doors off the iphone 5 lol.

some amazing tech buried on that guy. I miss the days where programs like UCAS were the norm instead of the exception.
