I'm getting psyched! Only a few more days away, and my butt will be in LA for the Last Show of MOTLEY CRUE ever on New Years Eve. It will be epic! Sex, Drugs, & Rock N Roll!!! (just joking about the drugs). Looking forward to going to THE WHISKEY niteclub.

Advice needed! Has anyone purchased a aftermarket rear spoiler? If so, what manufacturer do you recommend? We're you able to install it yourself? Or can you recommend a body shop you used that did it well?

I bought a replica OEM spoiler off eBay and had it installed at Christian Auto Body in Laurel. No complaints after having it on for nearly 5 years.

Do you happen to remember the name of manufacturer? I've been reading reviews on Duraflex and still can't determine if they're good or not. Reviews were 50/50 pro/con.

No they aren't all the same, check out the reviews. Some flail/vibrate violently at 80mph+, others crack, some don't even Line-Up evenly. Plastic vs fiberglass, so many choices.

It's not, but apparently it's a high quality replica. :icon17:

Stay far, far, far away from Duraflex. You will be very disappointed in it honestly, fits like crap and very cheaply made.

Used OEM, Seibon, I think Carbon Signal may have a few good ones also. We run the Aero Jacket Spoiler on Forsbergs car and it fits real well ( And looks cool! )

I do have a Seibon NSM wing sitting here at the shop I would be willing to cut a great deal on if you like that style!

Thanks. I'd like to stop by MA Motorsports after the holiday and check the spoiler & shop out. I'm looking for a shop that can lay a work plan for my Z. My ultimate goal is to purchase & have installed a Stillen Super Charger, but first I want to build up/make stronger the engine to the best performance prior to getting Stillen installed.

Depending on what you want to do beforehand, adding the supercharger may throw everything off.

That's why I want to work with a reputable shop who knows the goals I have planned. Let's face it a engine build is at least twice as expensive as just the super Charger depending on how much you want to spend. Putting a super Charger on a 90,000 mile + engine, when your the 2nd owner, could be disastrous! I want to build my Z smarter, by ensuring its foundation is solid.

If you're talking about changing the bottom end out...you should do that when you get the supercharger done. Can get some big power that way...

Goal is power, hook-up, & handling not looks or comfort. Eventually turning my Z into a dedicated track car, that I may sneak-out on the street on Friday & Saturday nights to eat up Mustangs, Camaros, & at least run side by side stock GTR's. If I have to lose a/c so be it. It's a attainable goal because speed is just a question of how much you can afford to spend.

Do a lower compression bottom end, custom turbo kit...IMHO. The Stillen supercharger kit seemed to be a huge let down, unless they fixed it...

Yeah, but building an engine for boost and building an engine for power N/A are two diametrically opposite tasks.

You will probably want to drop your CR by 20% to boost it right - which means it'll be a slug without boost.

:iagree:

You have to pick one or the other.

A lot less money to do that, certainly. Easier to remove and install, as well.

I don't know how this car responds to juice too well, though. And your gains will be limited by just how strong the bottom end is as well. I wouldn't spray more than a 100 shot, probably.

MAMotorsports 12-31-2015 11:03 AM

Actually, these days dropping compression when adding boost do not always go hand in hand. Technology has come a long ways in the past few years and the boosted engines are really seeing the most of it. Without spending way to much time rambling, we are not dropping compression on the VQ37s unless the customer will be running 25+psi of boost at all times.

There is also a Flex fuel kit we are using now so that makes it even easier, as E85 and High Compression go hand in hand. So do a "low" boost tune on pump gas, and a high boost tune on E85 and you have one awesome street car. Most of the Fast Intentions cars we are doing retain 11:1 Compression ratio's right now.

As for KoolKarmaJoe, would love to work with you on your goals! Have fun out in LA, and shoot me a call after the Holidays and we can set up a time for you to stop by and I will be more than happy to show you around!

I don't want my engine to end up like those pics. That's why I want to make sure the lower end built strong.

Can easily do that even with a built bottom end, too.

I'm sure MAM can hook you up with a solid build and tune to go with it.

That's strange. I called AAM earlier this week and dropped my car off yesterday with no issues.
