Yep the red lugs turn pink within a year. :shakes head:

Yeesh no thanks. That's a shame. Kinda mindblowing that no one has figured out how to make red lugs that y'know...stay red. They really only have to do two things:

1) Keep wheels from falling off

2) Stay red

I have the extended lugs that came with my DRS spacers. Figured although not mandatory, they would probably be a good idea.

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 12:09 PM

So by the same token I would assume black chrome lugs will turn grayish?

m4a1mustang 06-12-2013 12:10 PM

Once you go black, you never go back.

The black lugs stay black.

m4a1mustang 06-12-2013 12:11 PM

FWIW I prefer steel lugs for durability.

But it is all a moot point. Can't use them with your OEM wheels.

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 12:35 PM

Yeah. I think I'll just let this sit for now. Thanks anyway.

I believe they make these "adapter" or "washers" where you can use tuner lugs on acorn or stock style lug seats?

not sure how safe/effective it is lol

dmhenderson 06-12-2013 01:38 PM

Yeah like with the DRM spacers, I know it's not *likely* that a wheel will go flying off but if it's possible, no thanks.

Anyone care to explain why there are differently shaped lugs? I don't get why that convex shape = "tuner"

:iagree: Don't want a replay of the RX-7 AutoX from long ago... Can't look for the video from work, but someone may be able to pull it and post it.

It's more or less the design of the rim itself. Most aftermarket wheels include a cone style lug seat so it requires tuner lugs, which seat better. Can you use stock lugs on aftermarket wheels? Yes your wheels won't fall off but your rim also won't seat properly = vibrations at certain speeds
